Tucked deep within the mountains of Niigata Prefecture 🏔️, the Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel is not just a passage through rock — it’s a surreal blend of earth, water, reflection, and light.

You begin your journey through a cold, dim tunnel. The stone walls drip with age. Footsteps echo softly. But soon, strange lights begin to glow 🔆, alcoves shimmer with hidden color 🎨, and narrow openings reveal glimpses of steep cliffs, emerald waters, and endless sky 🌲🌊☁️.

🪞 At the end of the tunnel awaits the heart of the experience — the “Light Cave”, a mirrored chamber where water runs along the floor, reflecting the outside world in perfect symmetry.
Step inside, and suddenly you’re floating between worlds — above, below, within. Time feels slower. Silence feels heavier. The gorge becomes a painting, and you become part of it. 🖼️✨

Created as part of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, this tunnel is both a tribute to nature and a piece of contemporary art — minimal, eerie, meditative. It doesn’t just show you beauty. It makes you feel small in the best way. 🌌🍃
