Japan’s #1 Breakfast Buffet?! | Century Marina Hakodate Review (Unlimited Sashimi!)
good morning from Hakodate, Hokkaido today we’re heading to Japan’s #1 breakfast buffet located in the Century Marina Hotel it gets very busy so we arrived right at opening over 150 dishes are offered every day let’s begin with the best part Hokkaido has the best seafood in Japan and the
sashimi selection is quite impressive especially their massive overflowing bowl of ikura… squid is a specialty of Hakodate get ready to see Japan’s largest breakfast selection… kushikatsu and grilled fish grilled onigiri and eel ochazuke an overwhelming amount of Western style vegetable dishes Sapporo soup curry stewed dishes traditional Spanish dishes the buffet also has a monthly country theme,
it was Vietnam when we were there pasta station with 2 different sauces ramen and udon station with lots of toppings homemade chicken broth too Chinese influenced Japanese dishes and dim sum too there was also an enormous selection of Japanese side dishes fresh warm tofu braised dishes oyakodon and eggs for rice of course there’s miso soup steamed rice and vegetarian sushi and the largest salad bar i’ve seen in Japan lots of different salads + fresh vegetables there was also a large Western section fancy pancakes lots of breads/pastries jams and spreads yogurt and fresh fruit and a huge selection of beverages as well cereal different milks and smoothies and even sparkling wine alright, let’s get some food a large selection of greens and vegetables and of course some incredible looking sashimi all the seafood looks so fresh and two bowls of ikura i also got lots of pickles and side dishes to try itadakimasu Hokkaido is also renowned for having high-quality vegetables the greens were perfectly fresh and crisp the sweet and sour lotus root was deliciously crunchy and a very naturally sweet Kyoto carrot salad eggplant braised in sleet (daikon) had a very
comforting savoury dashi flavour in fact, every dish i tried was expertly prepared everything had perfect textures and flavourings some excellent appetizers but let’s move on to the main attraction make your own hand rolls this is my favourite way to eat sashimi and there are no limits when you’re the chef salmon roe and scallop so luxurious… the seafood in Hokkaido is extra rich and delicious Hakodate squid is so dense and rich let’s make a sweet shrimp hand roll and some ikura, because why not 10/10 when you’re the chef you can add more ikura than rice i must have eaten about 12 handrolls outstanding round 2 comforting red miso soup helped contrast the rich seafood let’s try the vegetarian sushi it looked pretty but bamboo is not nearly
as delicious as Hokkaido seafood lol the squid was particularly delicious so dense and rich with a slight sweetness that came out
with every chew the shrimp were also outstanding and even better when topped with ikura rich, sweet and briny, 10/10 made even better paired with some 6am sparkling wine there were so many dishes to try but the seafood
was overwhelmingly delicious another incredible round i was pretty full but i had to try some dessert
since they looked so well made much more so than your standard generic selection they even had Hokkaido milk soft serve which i happily chose along with the World’s
tiniest apple tart extremely delicious Hokkaido milk is much more rich and sweet
than regular milk the perfect end to a fantastic meal each time i eat breakfast here, it is the
best breakfast of my life overall, this is by far the best breakfast buffet i’ve
ever been to in Japan not only was the selection by FAR the largest
i’ve seen but the quality of everything was also as high
as it could possibly be there was also no time limit and the cost of the buffet is
included in the room price! (only a medium price hotel too) this is a must-try if you love seafood anyways, i hope you enjoyed this video from
