Toyohashi Japan Zoo Vlog (Our second Vlog Attempt!)
Hello and welcome to our attempt at a second vlog. We are currently travelling through Japan. We’re kind of new to recording ourselves so we’re often awkward. But yeah, it’s very awkward. Still trying to get over the fear of filming in public. But we’re trying. And we’re mostly trying so we have video diaries of our trips for our future selves. But it’s also cool to get in touch and network with other people that are living similar lives. And also travel. So yeah, it’s cool. Like showing other people that you can travel You know, it’s not something that’s so far out of the realm If you just… Yeah, you can do it affordably. And yeah, so… I can’t think thats the big thing we do it quite cheap Yeah. We’ve been over here now in Japan for nearly three months. Which is wild. And yeah, it’s gone so quick. But we thought we’ll start recording our days and making vlogs. And yeah. So in our first vlog, which I’m currently editing. And again, editing vlogs when you don’t know how to film them is a bit difficult. I didn’t film an intro, I didn’t film an outro. We didn’t even know that we were going to use the footage. Yeah, I just… Well, I think that it was just going to be like in person generally. Yeah. Hopefully this one’s a bit more structured. We’ll try remember to film an outro. But in our first one, we went all the way. We took a train 40 minutes away to go to the zoo and it was shut. We went on the one day it was shut. That’s my bad. I didn’t actually check. Anyways, it’s now a day later. It is stinking hot, 35 degrees. But we are going to make our way back there. Oh, so we’ve got a bike to the station. It’s about a 30 minute bike ride. Jump on a train and then walk to the zoo from the train station. But first we need to have some fun here for lunch. We’ve just gone for the classic tuna mayos and a pocari sweat because that is… This is a lifesaver in the heat in Japan. Yeah, standard meals for tourists. So we’re going to eat these and then we’ll crack on and yeah. We’ll see you down at… Where are we? ah Futagawa Oh, and by the way, all of our lunch came to… $7. 7 New Zealand dollars, which is about… 4 US dollars? Yeah. Which is 4 onigiris and a pocari sweat. So yeah, it’s quite cheap over here, which is awesome. Catch ya the train station, I guess. Yeah. [Music] Okay, on our way to the station. See you in half an hour. Yew! We made it. Fast train ride. We’re in fudagawa now. We thought it would be busier, but there’s really nothing. So, off to the zoo. It’s only 500 metres away. [Music] The last onigiri is coming handy. My eyes are too big for my plate. Too many. I got hungry. I’m not fighting this. [Music] What are you thinking? Well, this heater is cooking my batteries. I have filmed like three videos today. It was a butterfly, clearly. I filmed the butterfly. I filmed my three videos today and I’m on one bar of battery. I got a few more, so yeah. Just the camera gets so… We just found the best new drink ever. This apple peach and mango. It was only 100 yen. Also, if you come to Japan and you carry a handbag, you need to get one of these bottle hooks. Yeah. And then your hands free. They are unreal. Don’t bother with a big water bottle. There’s no point. They… How cheap drinks are and how hot it gets. Just use the vending machines. They’re everywhere. Yeah, I bought a drink bottle. I didn’t use it once, so… Walking through the arches to get into the zoo. Fingers crossed it is actually open. [Music] Alright, we did our tickets. It’s only 600 yen. 600 yen. Six dollars. [Music] That’s not a cool idea. It wasn’t, huh? Yeah, which way? [Music] I’m some don’t think I am, so this is pretty nice to go in. [Music] Battery just died. It’s so weird here, like, it’s such a beautiful park and no one here. There was hardly anyone at the station, hardly anyone on the walk here. But like, it’s an entire zoo, theme park and Botanical Gardens, like, look at this. It’s beautiful. And there’s not a single person here. There’s maybe eight adults walking around. Couple of kids, yeah. It is a Tuesday, or is it Wednesday? Wednesday. It is Wednesday and it’s the middle of the day, so it’s quite hot. But I would have thought this was a place that lots of people came. Okay, to get in the fire truck. While I pack all my gear away. Well, that’s hot. Keep making your way around. We’re going to do some photo shoots for our Balmè product right here. Look at the garden and then this bush, like a bear, a little chicken bush, and then like a little duck bush over there. Like, it’s so nice, isn’t it? Well, look, there’s no one. There’s literally no one here. We’re the only one. There’s only six dollars to get in and no one here. It makes me kind of sad that there’s no one here to see. Yeah. Beautiful. It’s fine. It’s pointing to the sun. It would actually be a such photo. Take my camera off. Where are we off to? Uh, the animals. I don’t know which ones. The red pandas, I think are first they are our favourites [Music] He’s a big boy. [Music] Holy moly, that’s hot. We’re roasting and there is an emu looking at us through the fence. Can you hold it? Right there. Oh, hi, buddy. Yeah, an emu looking at us. We are… We’ve just been a bear. A bear, the monkeys. This is raccoon dogs, which is the thing that chased me. Yeah, got chased and a Wakashima deer. Very cute. Made the cutest sound. We’ll probably insert it. Yeah, the sound was so adorable. He was adorable. He literally came up just to see us. Right at the back of his enclosure. He came right up to us. [Music] We literally walked here. We saw the elephant exhibit. It was the coolest elephant exhibit I’ve ever seen. And we’re like, oh, we’ll quickly go and see the crocodiles and the snakes. We went in there for like five minutes, come back out. Elephants are gone. Sick. Oh, man, what a shame. [Music] I’ve never seen a zoo with such curious animals. Yeah, they’ve all been so friendly [Music] [Music] Oh, no. [Music] Good choice. Oh, so good. [Music] Oh, it’s unbelievably good. That one’s actually good, yeah. Oh, my. All right, onto the penguins and stuff. Yeah, boy. [Music] Look at the size of that goddamn hornet. Holy moly. What are your thoughts on those murder hornets, Kate? Someone is excited for the lions. [Music] Kate has been absolutely ripped to shreds by mozzies. [Music] Okay, we just went and saw rhinos, lions. And a thing called a bush, baby, because the cutest look of creature. Yeah, hardbox. They were in this little inside area. Aardvarks, bush babies and Fennecs. They were all nocturnal so it was dark It was dark, couldn’t really film in there, but the bush babies were adorable. And then we found out they were called bush babies and it made them even cuter. It is literally 4.29. The zoo closes at 4.30. Been here for four hours. Haven’t even seen half the animals. Haven’t seen the amusement park or the history museum. So we’re going to have to come back. But this is one of the coolest zoos. I’ve never gotten this close to lions. They honestly thought nothing would top San Diego Zoo. Yeah, this is better. 100% does. You can get close, it’s quieter. We’ve seen like 20 people. It’s like the most beautiful day. I mean, look at that sky. That’s telling us it’s close. We have to come back. The sound they make when the stuff closes over here makes you sad. I always get sad when they… There’s a big ferris wheel here in the middle of the zoo. But yeah, I’ll be rushing back here for sure for $5 to come in here. Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. It’s an unreal deal. I haven’t really taken that many photos. I’ve kind of just been like in the moment today. We’re going to make our way out. That’s the National History Museum. No it’s not. Oh, is it not? Oh, okay. Scratch that. No, it’s not. Lots of beautiful butterflies and dragons. Right down there’s one. Yeah, this is so nice. What an outro. Yeah. This music. I don’t even need to put a backing track in. I can just run this. Toyahashi Zoo. 10 out of 10. Totally. And now we have to walk back to the station, which is literally like 500 metres away from here. We’re going to be getting on some busy trains this time of day. Busy trains and then back. Maybe we’ll go to the Sai’z? Maybe go out for tea. See you back at the train. Yooo It’s like Singapore Airport Look how much better this lens is for vlogging. This is so much better. Yeah, you can have some close ups Yeah. It’s only really at the zoo that I do that, just because I need the long lens. Or maybe I put the long lens on that camera? Or maybe I buy a new lens. No! This is Japan. Japan in a nutshell. Someone’s wallet’s just been left on the side of the street. Down there. No one’s picked it up. No one will touch it. No. Not a single person will touch it until the owner comes back. We couldve just take the lift, like her Real quiet update We just We missed our train We’re waiting 15 minutes for another one gonna try Royal Host tonight which is a first. We’ll see how it compares to Sai’z Look how sweaty i am my skin looks like it’s glowing. but its just sweat We’re gonna go to Hamamatsu, get some Royal Host and see if it’s better than Sai’z We’ll see you in Hamamatsu. We made it to Royal Host and it is a lot more expensive than we thought. It was a bit too expensive so we just ordered a salad each and then we’re gonna go to Sai’z and just pound some dirty pasta for like $2. To be fair you get a sick view of the city And to be fair it really wasnt that bad. No, it was a big plate of salad with prawns, chicken, bacon and it was $10. No, we don’t so it might actually be pretty good. We do need to try new places and here we are but it’s a little too fancy for my liking. It feels uncomfortable. And the salad’s a decent. What are we saying? $10. They’re actually not bad at all. It is very good. It is really really good. It is really nice. and an awesome view! We’ll still go fill up on some dirty pasta. $2. But I’m pretty happy. I actually really liked it. That was tasty. Very tasty. Well, the salad didn’t fill us up so we’re going to Sai’z We’re going to Sai’z. We’re gonna get some pasta. It almost filled us up but $10 for a salad. As delicious as it was and as big as it was. It’s still a salad and…a We need some carbs! Off to the mothership. Are you excited for the mothership? And we’re home and I think I’m about to die on Among Us. We biked home. It’s now 10.21pm. We went to Royal Host. As I said, it was too expensive so we got a salad and then we went over to Saizerians and we got a $2 bowl. Sorry, my camera died. The salad was delicious to be fair. It was. But I would probably go back for the salad. Yeah, the salad was unreal. It was like $10 but it had bacon, king prawns, chicken thigh, potatoes, avocado, egg. It had everything so it was unreal. It had a really nice onion sauce. Yep. But we went to We went to Saizerians after and got some pasta. Now we’re just back home playing Among Us on Roblox. We went and bought a bunch of snacks. We’re just chilling out here. Playing some games. Blasting the AC. Blasting the AC. Had to kill a few cockroaches when I got home because it was boiling in here. It was like 30, 30 or 35 degrees in the house. We’ve got the AC going. It’s all cool now. And yeah, we’re going to jam this for a bit more, a bit longer and then head off to bed. I’ll edit this tomorrow morning and yeah, awesome. That was a fun day. Did you enjoy it? Yes. It was an awesome day. Awesome zoo. That was one of the best zoos we’ve been to. It’s good to see. They were definitely looked after there so that’s cool. I’m super curious. But yeah, awesome. Thanks for watching. Bye. Bye.
Welcome back! This was our second attempt at filming a vlog (we’re slowly figuring it out 😅) and this time, we took you along to the Toyohashi Zoo for a full day of wandering, wildlife, and unexpected moments. From playful prairie dogs to elephants with attitude, it was a day full of surprises.
We’re learning as we go, so expect chaos, some questionable camera work, and a lot of laughs.
