Train with Mobile Ticket – Eastern Japan #shinkansen #japan
how to ride the bullet train with a mobile ticket To ride the Shinkansen north of Tokyo towards Kanazawa Nigata and Hokkaido on these Shinkansen lines use the Echinet website Create an account and register your card Select departure and arrival station date time and number of travelers Choose a train Select your seat type: unreserved reserved green car or grand class If choosing reserved seats pick your seats from the seat map Confirm and pay To board the train link your reservation to an IC card such as Pasmo or Ioka using the information on the back of the card You can then use your IC card to pass through the ticket gates and board the Shinkansen If you’re traveling with others each person will need their own IC card One thing to watch out for is that the Echinet website system doesn’t allow for transfers between different train lines So for example if you travel from Nagon to Sendai which requires a transfer at Omia you’ll need to book each leg separately and exit and re-enter through the Shinkansen ticket gates at Omia station Happy travels
Skip the ticket lines! 🚄

Good that you mention the transfer bit….buying two separate tickets is actually slightly more expensive than one single ticket. Therefore, I would probably just get a ticket from either the ticket office or from the ticket machine.
That said, during my most recent trips I haven't even used the shinkansen that much at all. The real fun is in places far away from the shinkansen 😉
