Kurashiki – A Peaceful Canal Town in Japan | Japan Travel Vlog
Today, we’re visiting Kurashiki in Okayama. We’re passing through this historic shopping street on our way to our first destination. It’s still early morning, and it looks like all the shops are still getting ready. “Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter” This is the Kurashiki Riverboat, recreating Edo-era cargo transport. You can experience this yourself. “Ticket Counter” We managed to get tickets for the afternoon. (tickets are sold only on the same day) Viewing the historic townscape from the water is quite a luxurious experience. We spotted two swans. And another lovely one here. What’s your name? Let’s take a walk around the area. Kurashiki is famous for its denim. Blue-colored food is a local specialty here. It certainly stands out, but I wonder if it tastes good… Denim Soft Serve 500 yen Surprisingly delicious! A mix of ramune soda and blueberry flavors! I’m coaching him on posing. “Your head seems heavy.” Perfect! We stumbled upon a beautiful view in an unexpected place. I had no idea there were so many cherry blossoms here. Stunning cherry blossoms. This is truly peak bloom. The famous “Ivy” green curtain covering the walls isn’t quite ready yet—it’ll be a bit longer. I’m starting to get hungry. Akaneiro Daily special menu. The interior was lovely, but the weather is so nice that we’ll sit on the terrace. This is a special spot where you can eat while overlooking the traditional townscape from above. Our two curry dishes have arrived. Chicken stock and shrimp green curry – 1450 yen Special Butter Chicken Curry – 1420 yen Both dishes were thoughtfully prepared, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. We returned just in time for our boat ride. Let’s go on a 20-minute boat ride. You can enjoy views from the boat, different from walking along the streets. Time flows gently and pleasantly here. The boatman shares sightseeing information and fascinating historical stories. Next, we’re heading to nearby Achi Shrine. The air here is incredibly refreshing. It’s surprisingly peaceful even though we’re in the city. Let’s go down a different path than the one we came up. We’re heading to our next destination, a bit further away. “Washuzan” This spot offers amazing views of the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the surrounding islands. It’s the world’s longest combined road and railway bridge. There’s an even better viewpoint up ahead. Let’s climb up! It took about 30 minutes from the first observation deck.
