Poland to Czech Republic on a DELUXE Sleeper Train
This Video is in Partnership with Ekster. Tonight we’re travelling from Poland to the Czech Republic onboard one of THE
BEST night trains in Europe! We’re in a private, deluxe,
en-suite compartment for this 800km journey – so come along with me
and let’s check it all out together! Welcome to Warsaw. The Polish capital city’s metropolitan area is home to
around 3.3 million people. While it may not be top of many tourists
list of places to visit in Poland, with many heading to Kraków or Gdansk
instead – I actually really like it here. There’s a good vibe, cheap
but good quality hotels, amazing food and a world-class
public transport system. You can pay me later Warsaw tourist board 😉 I’ve headed to the East of
the city to catch tonight’s train at its point of origin, Warsaw East Station. Bus and taxi stops can be found right outside, with three of the city’s tram
lines also having stops nearby. Heading inside, and the main
concourse is very open and spacious. There are a few shops spread around, along with
both automatic and staffed ticketing facilities. A gallery of restaurants and eateries can
be found in a separate wing of the station. The large departure boards show
information in both Polish and English. Our train tonight is the EuroNight 407
‘Chopin’ service to Prague. This train departs Warsaw with sections for Vienna
and Budapest also, and will split en-route. A BIG THANKS to Ekster for sponsoring this video. The Ekster TravelPack Vacuum Kit
is a nifty space-saving solution to help you maximise the space in your luggage. You can TRIPLE your effective packing
area with the carry-on sized, anti-rip and waterproof vacuum bag – which
fit up to 15 items of clothing each. It comes with a portable, USB-C rechargeable vacuum air pump –
which is good for 20 uses per charge. With the touch of a button,
just look how much space is saved whether it be in a case, or a backpack. And at the end of your trip, it doubles
up as an odor-proof dirty laundry bag. I certainly won’t be leaving on my next trip
without my Ekster TravelPack Vacuum Kit! Save up to 44% in Ekster’s 4th of
July sale – and use my promo code EUROTRIP at checkout to get an additional 10% OFF! Thanks again to Ekster for sponsoring this video. OK, to the train! Platform
1, Track 12 for us tonight. These can be accessed by stairs
or wheelchair lift, seen here. This train arriving is one of Polish
Railways domestic InterCity services. I’ll have a video review onboard
one these comfortable home-grown, Pesa Dart EMUs coming soon, so be sure
you’re subscribed so you don’t miss that. And then around 10 minutes before
scheduled departure, our train pulls in. There is a mix of seated, couchette
and sleeper coaches from both PKP Polish Railways and Ceske Drahy Czech Railways. We’ll be one of the Czech deluxe sleeper
compartments tonight, in coach number 354. The attendant will greet you at the door, check your name off his list and
then direct you to your room. Boarding is not level, but wheelchair
lifts are available, if required. I’m in Room 10 tonight, and my first impressions are that it looks excellent. Very
clean, spacious and comfortable. Let’s check out tonight’s route. We depart
Warsaw, and first head south to Kraków, before turning West towards the Czech Republic
and arriving in Prague tomorrow morning. We depart Warszawa Wschodnia, on-time, at 7.30pm. The full route is 794km (493mi)
in distance and is scheduled to take us 12 hours and 18 minutes of travel
time, arriving at 7:48am tomorrow morning. I was travelling on a First Class
Interrail pass on this trip, so I had to pay a room supplement of Kč 1,940
Czech Crowns (£66.55, €78.22, $90.22) for solo occupancy of this deluxe en-suite
compartment – which is AMAZING value. The full ‘cash price’ of this room is Kč 5,537
Czech Crowns (£189.89, €223.12, $257.50). These rooms do have three beds though, so if you
do share, it can become quite cost effective. Heading across Warsaw, we cross the Vistula River, before entering the cross city tunnel and calling
at Warszawa Centralna, or Warsaw Central Station. You can probably now see why I didn’t
want to start the video from here! The final call in Warsaw is at Warszawa Zachodnia, or West Station before
staring this journey proper. OK, as there’s little to see outside, let’s turn our focus inside and
check out my deluxe compartment. Entrance is granted by this key card,
which you get to keep for the duration, so you can lock the room when you leave it. There are also two locks on the inside. A litter bin and intercom
are located next to the door. The windows have full black-out blinds. The announcement volume and A/C controls
can both be adjusted within the room, as can the main room and night lights. Each bunk also has its own
individual reading light. The beds are pre-made on your arrival,
with crisp, clean, white sheets. The mattresses are thick and soft, with the
pillows and duvet being plump and of good quality. Two bottles of water are provided in a drinks
holder, and there’s also a storage net. One European power socket is also present. These rooms have dividing doors, meaning two cabins can be opened
up to make one large 6-berth space. Coat hangers are provided for
your clothes and luggage can be stored on the large shelves above the bathroom. As I have solo occupancy tonight,
the other two bunks are locked away, but a ladder is available, if they’re in use. A brilliant feature of these deluxe
rooms, is the en-suite bathroom. It’s very spacious, was all super clean and
stocked up with toilet paper and towels. There is a toilet, a swivelling sink
and a good-sized shower cubicle. The water was warm and had good pressure. Brilliant! Waiting on the bed was an amenity kit which
features slippers, soap and shower gel. The well-priced and comprehensive menu was also here – there is no dining car
on this sleeper train tonight, but you can order with the attendant who
will bring your food and drinks to your room. A table can be attached to
the wall for eating/working, and a fold out seat is also present. I had the chicken schnitzel, potato salad
and a Pepsi – it was all very delicious. The total price was Kč 238 Czech Crowns (£8.18,
€9.60, $11.11) which I think is good value. After that was cleared away, I settled
down for the night as I’ve had a busy day, and have a relatively early start tomorrow. Good morning! I slept so well – this really is the MAGIC of
the night train – going to bed in one place, and waking up very well rested in another. As both Poland and the Czech Republic are
in the EU’s free movement Schengen zone, there are no border checks at all. The bed was super comfortable and I don’t remember
waking up once – the ride quality was excellent! These trains are equipped with free WiFi, which worked well at a reasonable
speed throughout the trip. If you want AD-FREE early access to every
video, great perks and to help me to do BIGGER & BETTER reviews, then become a

but I slept so well that now I’m very awake. After a quick shower, I’m going to go for a wander around the train to check out the
other available accommodations. The majority of the sleeping compartments
are these 6-berth shared couchettes. They are great value to still get a good sleep
at a fraction of the cost of the sleeper rooms. And then these are the 6-seated compartments.
You can spend the night in here, but for the small price difference,
I’d always choose the couchette. There are also open-saloon
seated coaches on some services, seen here. But these are
meant for shorter journeys. Now, I make it breakfast time! The menu for this is also in your
room – and this is complimentary. I went for the sweet breakfast, which
includes bread, jam, honey, a wafer, a yoghurt, a coffee and an
apple juice. It was great! We now just have two more stops before the end
of the journey – at Česká Třebová and Pardubice on the East-West mainline between Prague
and Ostrava, within the Czech Republic. So let me summarise this overnight
journey from Warsaw to Prague with Ceske Drahy on their EuroNight service
in a deluxe, en-suite compartment. I honestly believe that all thing considered, this is one of the top 3 rooms on
any sleeper train within Europe. It’s good value for money whether travelling
on an Interrail pass or paying the full fare. The rooms are spacious, very clean
and modern – and the en-suite with shower is an AMAZING extra amenity to have. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and
helpful and the food was also all very tasty. Dinner was good value, and the complimentary
breakfast a lovely way to start the day. All onboard announcements are
made in both Czech and English. If you want to see my review onboard
the Ceske Drahy flagship SuperCity Pendolino EMU in the Czech Republic
– then click the link above now! In the end, we arrive at Praha Hlavní Nádraží, the main station serving the Czech
capital, around 30 minutes late, at 8:20am. Don’t forget to check out the Ekster 4th

Nice video! Something else compared to the Romanian railbus. 😅
Great trip. It's great to see Warsaw National Stadium when departing from Warsaw East.
TWO LOCKS FROM INSIDE !!!!
are they expecting zombies to rampage through the train in Busan style? 😦
As per usual, a very interesting and informative video. Thank you 😊
