A man convicted for the 2017 serial murders of nine people in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, has been executed, a source close to the matter said Friday.

The death sentence of Takahiro Shiraishi, dubbed Japan’s “Twitter killer,” was finalized in 2021.
