Japan Vlog #4 What Hiroshima Taught Me & Secret Side of Kyoto | Japan’s Most Unexpected Trip 🇯🇵

now you know when you see everyone having something and you think that’s got to be good well I saw everyone having this green bottle and thought “Okay let me try it.” And it was a big mistake it was cold green tea no sugar and honestly it was so bitter I couldn’t handle it i gave it to my partner after one sip so yeah that was my first experience on the way to Hiroshima i think it’s an acquired taste maybe you like it after having it so many times it was just not for my taste words so we were on our way to Hiroshima for 1-day trip from Osaka and it was a super easy ride about 1 hour 20 minutes on the Shinkansen and when we arrived the vibe was totally different from the hustle of Osaka hiroshima felt so much quieter and there were trams rolling through the streets everywhere and it was so peaceful and a nice change of pace we checked into our hotel which was a quick 10-minute walks from Hiroshima station we just dropped our bags and headed out for some food because check-in was until 3 p.m as every hotel in Japan so we found this Indian restaurant called Kum and it was nothing fancy but hey it was solid fix after lunch we went straight to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park if you are ever in Hiroshima this is a mustsee we went to the Peace Memorial Museum and wow it hit me hard the exhibits really makes you feel the weight of history i mean it’s one thing to read about it but seeing the personal items like clothes watches frozen at 8:15 a.m the time the bomb dropped it was chilling we also saw the peace dome where thousands of names are kept recorded in the books bound in respect and then the atomic dome a skeleton reminder of the moment everything just changed to think that the building survived the explosion is just mind-blowing it’s a symbol of resilience and you can’t help but be in awe of how the city rebuilt itself literally from nothing now after all that heavy history we needed to lighten up a bit right so we wandered through the local market and guess what i found a Demon Slayer gacha machine i was looking for it everywhere so I had to try it and I got a little cute capsule toy and honestly it made my day we also hit up Mr donut for some Japanese sweets have you ever tried their donuts if not they are too cute to eat but trust me I ate them anyway we grabbed some donuts and I even did a little shopping at the store called Ingle and I found some trendy pieces i just couldn’t resist after all that walking and shopping we just wanted to rest for a bit so we went to our hotel so we booked a really small tiny room and uh we didn’t wanted to spend much because we were just staying in the hotel for a few hours at night so we just booked a very budget friendly hotel and now it was time for the snack test okay let’s try this pizza flavored potato chips so the lookwise it’s just like Lays or maybe bingo it’s more similar to bingo and there are some oregano and chili flakes over it if you can see that and it looks like Lays though okay let’s try it tastes a little tangy but I don’t feel any pizza flavor in this it’s more like um a Indian flavor blue lace similar to that no pizza flavor though but you can try it if you want an Indian flavor in Japan you can try this chips okay after having few of these chips I am getting a slight flavor of basil leaves and a little bit of margarita pizza flavor rest it’s similar to our Indian lace okay now let’s try this Mr donut uh thing so this is called Angel French so you have cream inside the white vanilla cream inside and a little bit of chocolate on the upper side i love the shape of it it looks so delicious and yummy let’s try it how it tastes like m oh my god it’s so tasty tastes like a donut but um a very yummy taste i really love this so you get two types of cream in this one chocolate and vanilla so I also got one more flavor of this and this is called the angel cream so this is our bumbolini so Italian bumbolini it looks similar to that and you have cream inside i thought it has custard inside but I think it is filled with white vanilla cream so let’s try this m their cream is just so fluffy and light and yummy so good i like this one more than the French one it is so tasty similar to bombolini but filled with white vanilla cream definitely try this Mr donut if you’re coming to Japan so now we are going to try this caramel pudding from 7-Eleven it is very famous so I’m just going to try it out how it tastes like it might contain egg so vegetarians have to be a little conscious so this is how it looks like so the caramel is in here and this is how it looks like from the other side so I’m just going to dig in it looks really good let’s taste it oh my god i didn’t expected this to be this good wow this is like so creamy and a little bit sweet not too overpowering sweet very very soft and creamy look at this i think this way to eat it i think this box has a little hole inside it so you just have to press it or something i saw a video in that but now I’m just going to eat it like this because I can’t control so yeah a very good one if you want to try it out later that night we went to the Hiroshima Castle it’s crazy to think that this was almost completely destroyed during the atomic bomb attack but they rebuilt it and it was now looking stunning especially at night the castle looked magical all lit up seriously it’s like stepping into a different world and when we were enjoying the awe of this castle we heard some drums and chantings nearby so of course we had to check it out turns out there was a live performance of No a traditional Japanese trans drama it was super eerie and also kind of mesmerizing the performers wear these old school mask and they act out stories of gods ghosts and demons i won’t lie it was a little spooky but fascinating at the same time after that we head back to a hotel exhausted but really moved by the whole day hiroshima is a place just not about sightseeing it’s all about feeling the history and the resilience and the spirit of the people if you ever get the chance to visit Hiroshima don’t just visit it experience it it’s a journey through time but also a reminder of how strong the human spirit can be so the next morning we were up early bags packed shoes on and heading straight to the Hiroshima station for our next stop the city I was most excited about Kyoto we were going to spend the next 4 days soaking in the temples tea houses and street foods and maybe a little bit of soul search as we waited at the station something super random but kind of beautiful caught my eye i saw a worker refilling a vending machine and once he emptied the cardboard box he didn’t just throw it away he folded them so neatly for reuse and that’s the thing with Japan it’s these small thoughtful moments that just make me fall in love with this country over and over again we hopped on the Shinkansen bound for Kyoto it was about 1 hour 35 minutes so we grabbed our breakfast from the station before boarding i got this chicken and egg sandwich combo set with a drink and oh my god it was so fresh guys if you’re ever in Japan and need a cheap quick breakfast trust me 7-Eleven or Family Mart sandwiches are unbeatable so simple so soft and so perfect once we reached Kyoto we dropped our bag off at the hotel reception and check-in wasn’t until the afternoon so we decided to make the most of our time and head out for exploration and our first stop it was Kenji Temple just a 15inut walk away from our hotel and honestly this place blew me away it’s Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple founded in 1202 but it feels like a peaceful hidden gem and here’s a cool fact kenji is where the Zen Buddhism first took root in Kyoto and it’s also famous for the absolutely mind-blowing ceiling painting of two giant yin and yang dragons swirling above your head yes it’s real and yes it’s so cool as it sounds and did you know the matcha that you are obsessed about was also originated here we also saw a traditional subuna which is like a small Japanese courtyard garden tugged right in the middle of the temple the whole space was so quiet you could literally hear your own breath i don’t know what it was maybe the light the wood and the simplicity but being there felt like just at pause in time after all that peaceful temple walking let me be real we were starving so we made our way to the super popular spot I saw over Instagram the Chowo Chaoza there was a long line outside like real long we waited for around 30 minutes honestly and it was totally worth it the staff was so friendly and energy inside was buzzing so we ordered their chicken gyoza and smashed potato gyoza and wait for it chocolate fried gyoza yes chocolate and yes fried and yes I nearly burned my mouth because I couldn’t wait and all of that it was absolutely delicious crispy juicy flavorful the kind of food that makes you do that little habit dance in your seat so that was our day one in Kyoto temples vending machines sandwiches kyozas and a whole lot of walking but I wouldn’t have it another way more Kyoto adventures are coming up in the next vlog you won’t believe what amenities our hotel had in Kyoto also I did ramen making class from a Michelin star chef can you believe it so these are coming up in the next vlog make sure you subscribe and like this video if you like it and also tell me in the comments below would you try the chocolate gyoza or not and be honest okay so eat well travel slow and soak it all in i’ll see you next time in the next one bye-bye [Music]
