♡ JAPAN TRAVEL DIARIES ♡ Family visit | Mountain drive, Hikone Catle, Delicious food 🍲🥢 Love hotel😲

hello my name is Wendy and welcome back to another video emma’s family came to visit us in Japan and while they were here we traveled around and saw loads of new places our trip took us from Tokyo through the mountains and down to Kyoto we experienced so much of Japan’s amazing culture and had a truly memorable trip and of course I filmed it all and will be sharing it with you so don’t forget to subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the vlogs from our trip [Music] in this week’s video I’m taking you along as we drive the last part down towards Kyoto we drove through the morning fog in the mountains which was personally one of the highlights of the trip for me as it was so beautiful heat [Music] heat heat heat heat heat [Music] on our way down to Kyoto we stopped to see Hikoni Castle it’s one of the only 12 castles in Japan that has survived since the Edo period without being rebuilt construction began in 167 and was completed in 1622 it was built by the Lee family who ruled the area at the time the central tower of Hikoni Castle is relatively small compared to other castles but it’s known for its elegant design and wellpreserved structure it’s been designated as a national treasure of Japan the castle is located on a hill so to reach the main keep you follow a stone path uphill along the way you pass all gates and stone walls from the top there is a nice view of Lake Viwa which is the largest lake in Japan inside the keep you can climb steep wooden staircases and see historical displays and original architecture from the 1600s the floors and walls are made of dark wood and you can see out from narrow windows that were once used for defense the castle grounds include a garden which was built in the 1700s it features a large pond small bridges and traditional tea houses the area is especially popular in the cherry blossom season and the autumn when the leaves change color yikon Castle is one of the best preserved castles in the country and is a great example of traditional Japanese architecture and defense design [Music] [Music] [Music] chocolate hallelujah [Music] [Music] your mom too [Music] [Music] I think it [Music] was going to go ahead heat heat [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] after we finished viewing Hikoni Castle we drove a short distance and found a restaurant with parking in this restaurant we were shown to our own room and the food here was really good [Music] [Music] heat heat [Music] [Music] [Music] after lunch we continue our drive to our hotel in Kyoto where we would spend three nights and two full days in Kyoto once we arrived we had a fun surprise when we learned that I had booked us all into a Japanese love hotel love hotels are shortstay hotels mainly used for intimate encounters they’re designed for privacy and often used by couples looking for a discrete place to spend time together i didn’t do much research on this hotel before booking it it was available last minute and cheaper than other hotels i had originally booked us into a holiday in in the center of Kyodo but due to a card error caused by a usage limit on the account which we were not aware of the card was declined and the booking was cancelled without warning so we lost the original booking and had to find another hotel the day before [Music] i’m showing you two different rooms as we asked to change due to a bad smell in the first one but apart from that we had no other issues at this hotel that is everything for this week’s video don’t forget to like and subscribe and come back for next week’s video where we’ll continue to explore Japan [Music]

Emils’ family came to visit us in Japan and this video is part of our series of vlogs from the trip.
In this video, we drive from the mountains down to Kyoto and stop to explore Hikone Castle, one of Japan’s best-preserved original castles.
We then continue the drive to Kyoto, where we discover that our last-minute hotel booking was actually a Japanese Love Hotel.
I also show what the rooms were like and explain why the booking changed.
