Naomi Osaka did not get off to the best start on grass this season as she lost in the first-round of the German Open to Liudmila Samsonova. She also lost in the first-round of the French Open to Paula Badosa and the former world number one is currently on a three match losing streak. Osaka has historically struggled on this surface, having never reached a final on grass in her career and last made the third-round of Wimbledon in 2018.
She goes up against Olga Danilovic in round one. Danilovic won both of her qualifying matches to make the main draw after failing to get past the first-round of the Nottingham Open last week. Danilovic enjoyed a fine clay court season, winning a title in Antalya and reaching the final in Rouen, but her results have taken a slide since the middle of April.
Neither player performs at their best on grass but Osaka has enough experience and firepower to get the better of Danilovic and snap her losing streak.
