Kobe Nunobiki Hiking & Herb Garden good morning I came to my hometown Kobe. Today is still a little chilly in late March. I want to feel spring! So we moved 10 minutes from Sannomiya to the mountain side and From here we will go to Nunobiki Herb Garden. On foot! It takes about one hour to walk from the foot of the mountain to the herb garden. It is an enjoyable hiking course with a variety of changing scenery along the way, including Nunobiki Falls and a dam. Let’s go through the commercial facility “KOTO no HAKO” and head for Shin-Kobe Station. The Nunobiki Hiking Course is personally one of the very best spots in Kobe! I have been there many times before. But. I’ll leave this video as a reminder for myself as the road gets fuzzy every time. LOL! (1) Entering Shin-Kobe Station (2) Passing through the store area (3) Turn right and go down the stairs (4) There is a trail station. (5) Let’s start hiking from here! Furthermore, the path to the trailhead is somewhat complicated, so we will give you some pointers to keep in mind. First is this fork in the road. If you go left, you are in Kitano, so go straight up. Then turn right here to reach the trailhead. Now then… I feel that this first staircase is the hardest part of the Nunobiki hike. Let’s climb with spirit! I was still a beginner in video shooting at that time, so I apologize for all the foot shots and not much scenery…. In the meantime, I’ve prepared a long version of the video, so I hope you’ll watch that as well. By the way, the ground you see on the screen now may look smooth. The actual road is a huge incline! Still a long way to go… I’m going to take a break. That’s too long of a break! LOL! I’ll fast forward to the waterfall! Arrived! The sound of the waterfall, it’s soothing. This is a customary line, but since the power of the line cannot be conveyed through the screen, I urge you to see it with the naked eye! There is a bench in front of the waterfall and I took a five-minute break. All right! Let’s resume our hike! From here to the herb garden is a digest. Arrival! Oh? Is the entrance closed? You may be surprised for a moment. Don’t worry, you can enter here. There are two ropeway stations in the park, and this is the intermediate station. There is a summit station above the intermediate station. The park is very large! There are two types of ropeway tickets: one-way and round-trip. If you come here on a hike like this time and return from the intermediate station to the foot station with a one-way ticket, you need to pay the entrance fee at the information desk at the top of the mountain.
*Admission fee: 200 yen Now, finally, flowers in full bloom greet me! No. Huh? I guess it wasn’t time for flowers to bloom yet… This is the view when there are flowers. I can’t be depressed because there are many other spots in the herb garden besides this one. Let’s get back on track and have some soft serve ice cream! I bought it at this concession stand and I ate it under the shade of a tree. The lavender flavor is refreshing to a body tired from climbing a mountain! Please note that soft serve ice cream is available elsewhere, but lavender flavor is only available here. Let’s walk to the summit! The observation terrace was crowded with many visitors, so to protect everyone’s privacy, we are showing close-ups of the flowers. This is a photo taken on a different day, but this is what the observation terrace looks like. The back side is also spacious. The building has an information center, a restaurant, a souvenir store, and a sweets store. Across the street from it is the Herb Marche. I’m already hungry. I was really struggling with which one to choose… Then I decided on minestrone with rice croquettes! I had purchased donuts at THE CITY DONUTS on my way to Shin-Kobe Station, so I combined them with minestrone to create a delicious lunch set! Then, let’s go around the herb garden. First is the “Forest Hall” at the back of the observation area. Inside the hall is the Fragrance Museum, where visitors can enjoy a variety of exhibits. What scent do you like? I like wood scents! In the back room, visitors can enjoy an aroma crafting experience. The wooden hall on the second floor is also available for rent. The acoustics are said to be very good. Next, let’s go down from the summit. Head for the glass house you see over there. I looked back and saw mimosa trees swaying in the wind. It’s spring! Every time I passed by here, I always wondered, “Is this really a vegetable garden?” I found out that a “potager” is a European-style garden with a mixture of vegetables, herbs, and flowers that serves both practical and aesthetic purposes.
Source: Wikipedia Shown slightly behind the gazebo on the right is a freely available hammock! Hammocks can be found near intermediate stations. However. This place is surrounded by trees, so you can enjoy the serene atmosphere. Arrived!
Inside the glasshouses are colorful flowers, and There is a garden of tropical plants. It’s growing very vigorously! It’s a great greenhouse! From the greenhouse, visitors can step out onto the terrace and enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Kobe. On this day, it was misty in early spring, but on a clear day, you can see as far as the horizon. To the left of the terrace is a footbath! On the right side is a cafe. Strawberry Fair was underway in the cafe lounge on the second floor. This time I bought some herbal tea on the first floor and drank it. Let’s continue exploring the herb garden. Here in the “Garden of Four Seasons,” rape blossoms were growing nicely. The tulips seem to have a long way to go in terms of growth. Took a picture with the ropeway. I also found small nemophila! This is the “Waterfall Patio.” The sun shining through the trees is a nice touch. To the vicinity of the intermediate station I returned. Since I am here, I would like to swing in a hammock. This is the view from the hammock. What a great time! This location is in an area called “Windy Hill” and is very open. Instead, sunlight comes directly to the area, so it would be a good idea to have sunshades. I wanted to stay here forever because it’s so comfortable. But alas, it’s almost time for the time limit. Reluctantly I head home. by the way Nunobikino Falls can be seen from inside the ropeway! Nunobiki Herb Garden is located very close to the city of Kobe. You can stop by Ijinkan Street on the way there or on the way back home. The ocean is right there, so dinner at Harborland is nice in the evening. There is also a course that goes from Shin-Kobe Station to Arima Onsen (hot spring), so you can enjoy a variety of sightseeing plans. The park also offers a variety of events: a garden picnic in the spring, a terrace bar in the summer, a German festival and harvest festival in the fall, and a Christmas market in the winter. No matter what season you visit, you can feel the healing power of nature, so when your mind is tired, please visit Nunobiki Herb Garden! Finally, please enjoy the view of the city of Kobe as it gradually approaches. The foot station has appeared. See you on the next trip!
I went hiking to Nunobiki Herb Garden, a highly recommended sightseeing spot in my hometown of Kobe!
It takes about an hour to walk from Shin-Kobe Station to Nunobiki Herb Garden, and the scenery changes rapidly along the way, including Nunobiki Falls and a dam.
Although the herb garden was still out of flower season, we refreshed ourselves after a long day of working on the computer by eating delicious food and communing with nature in the spacious grounds.
