Bad Homburg might be seen by many as a WTA warm-up event for Wimbledon, but it features an absolutely stacked field with some of the world’s best players looking to pick up form and momentum (and potentially a title) ahead of the third Grand Slam of the season. Day 2 should be full of exciting grass court action.
WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions
Magdalena Frech vs Clara Tauson
Head-to-head: Frech 1-1 Tauson
This is an incredibly close matchup, with both players having very similar rankings (#23 and #25) and playing levels. Moreover, on paper grass doesn’t really favor either of the players in this particular matchup. It should be an extremely close match, decided by very fine margins, potentially even tiebreaks, as is often the case on grass.
Prediction: Frech in 3
Donna Vekic vs Diana Shnaider
Head-to-head: Shnaider 2-1 Vekic
The pair faced twice this year, with Vekic winning an incredibly tight three-setter at the Australian Open and Shnaider scoring a routine win five days ago in Berlin, to add to her grass court win in Bad Homburg last year in this matchup. While Vekic came tantalizingly close to reaching the Wimbledon final last year, Shnaider is one of the fastest rising young players on Tour and seems to have the edge in this matchup already, at least as far as grass is concerned.
Prediction: Shnaider in 3

Naomi Osaka vs Olga Danilovic
Head-to-head: first meeting
So far, Osaka’s comeback hasn’t gone as well as she’d have expected, but a player of this quality can always find her stride at any moment. That said, even in her heyday when she was dominating and winning Slams she never found much success on grass or natural surfaces in general. If she is to get some big results and become a top player again in 2025, it is likely to happen on U.S. hard courts. On grass, Danilovic could well get a big name win here.
Prediction: Danilovic in 3
