Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru has instructed relevant ministries to take all possible measures to secure the safety of Japanese nationals in Iran.

Senior officials of the defense, foreign and other ministries briefed Ishiba on Sunday on the US attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran.

The prime minister told them to work closely with the nations concerned to collect information and take all possible measures to secure the safety of Japanese citizens.

Ishiba told reporters that it is of the utmost importance to calm the situation soon, adding that Iran’s nuclear weapons program must be blocked. He said he is closely monitoring developments with grave interest.
