Hiroshima Atomic bomb dome / Peace Memorial Park / Museum / Carnival Luminosa
guess where I’m at one guess guess where I’m at [Music] give you 10 seconds to guess where I’m at one guess hiroshima Japan we made it another place another stop another check off the bucket list we are here ready to rock and roll it’s uh about 62° but it’s windy hopefully the wind wind’s not too bad wait do we got big wheezy in there be wheezy it’s beautiful here look at the islands we haven’t gotten off the ship yet we are headed that way now i know the wind noise is here and I don’t have my microphone on [Music] peace Memorial Park Atomic Bomb Dome we are off the ship heading to our tour it’s the Peace Memorial Park atomic uh atomic dome tour so uh you will see some glimpses hopefully very soon i don’t know how long the ride is to the to the park i’m sure he’s the best and safest driver here in Hiroshima but just in case please fasten your seat belt the bus situated on the delta of OA river currently six rivers divide the city into several islands but long long time ago most part of the city was under the sea so there are couple of islands run at the mouth of the river [Music] it’s in the center of the city and the shape is like a T the alphabet T and the T was the initial target of the bomb but actually the bomb exploded in the air 300 m away from there and the bridge survived and in 1980s a new bridge was rebuilt again some people wanted to destroy it because they didn’t want to see anymore while others wanted to keep it to the future to remember the horror of nuclear weapon or depth of the water changes depending on up to 3 to 4,000° and old fashion this is a bomb survived building and because of the blast this is a major shopping arcade in Hiroshima and on your right side it’s on regional bank Hiroshima bank building and on your compound and mouth are remaining and the castle tower and turrets and of course they were rebuilt after the war occurred this gray building right here is and castle tower is something like history museum inside there is a display so in the past people are very afraid of fire so it’s like a charm or this sculpture is called the clock of peace [Music] this building is called the atomic dome it was one of the only structures standing after the first atomic blast [Music] this is the Bell of Peace you’ll notice around the park they’ll have a lot of monuments dedicated towards peace and a world free of nuclear weapons [Music] sedaku is the young girl we’re going to be talking about when we start talking about 1,00 Cranes [Music] [Music] what a amazing story of Hiroshima uh think about the tragedy that that occurred here uh that who it took me back i will fall during World War II more than 3 million students over 12 years of age were mobilized for labor services throughout the country as a result more than 10,000 students were killed and shed for the nation this tower was directed by concerned families [Music] exposed to the radiation but 10 years after that she had an acute leukemia and while she was in the hospital she received kind of lots of paper crate and she holded more than 1,000 she passed away and shocked by her death classmate put out the fundraising campaign and build this so this is a monument built by the power of the kids and there is a stone underneath it said this is a cry this is a prayer to make peace in the world so please closely look at the table this is the children’s peace monument uh located in the atomic park and at the top you’ll see uh Saddako this monument was dedicated to the kids killed in the blast [Music] burning continues and we will continue to burn until the day all nuclear weapons still disappear from the earth and how many nuclear warheads do you think exist on Earth now be on Earth this flame will burn until all nuclear weapons are gone this is known as Peace Pond now we’re getting ready to head into the actual museum [Music] this is a reenactment of what happened when the bomb exploded [Music] approximately 140,000 people had died by the end of 1945 [Music] [Music] throughout the museum they just had tons and tons of artifacts um from the aftermath of the bombing [Music] Sodako was the girl that was 2 years old when the bomb hit uh died of leukemia years later she started building uh origami cranes because if you built a thousand cranes you were supposed to get a wish and she wanted health all I wanted to do was just sit here and reflect on the tragedy that happened here we finally started heading back to the ship this is the first time I tried to get our guys like burger ooh Celebration Keys new burger this burger had jalapeno pineapple salsa rum barbecue pulled pork colelaw shaved onions pickles and donkey sauce it sounds like a bit much but I’m going to try it out i’m here on the Carnival on Luminosa and I’m going to get my first glimpse of the new burger that they’re going to have on Carnival’s brand new island Celebration Key it’s called the Barbecue Rum Runner it looks delicious it wasn’t bad but it was a little bit too much for me carnival brought on some local talent some musical talent to keep us entertained for uh popular the fall festival of time this Hiroshima Kiarondo is singing about the specialty and famous places in Hiroshima area including Miaima the second song is Yosakoi Jong which is a dance [Music] yeah heat [Applause] [Music] [Applause] heat [Applause] heat [Music] bye hiroshima hiroshima [Music] till next time [Music] it rained a little bit today but it wasn’t a bad day [Music] [Music] what a great day down here in uh Hiroshima uh had a good time it wore us out i made it to dinner billy was tired he said he’s not going to do it he might do a buffet a little bit later right now he’s not he’s he was in the room like he was going to take a nap it’s 7 7:30 at night i don’t know about taking a nap he was going to be up all night anywh who when I have dinner I’m getting the uh fried mozzarella sticks for the dessert dinner is going to be the uh grilled pork steak and then for dinner for the dessert is going to be the grand uh grand marier sule and a cup of coffee as usual i don’t know what day this is here but I think it’s Monday night i think I don’t know what the date is i don’t know but anyway right after dinner I’m probably going to go live you all know that but you can go back and look at the live for the video the day of the video for Hiroshima uh decent cheese pull from the uh mozzarella sticks i can’t complain you know it’s it’s hot i know some people have complained as far as the the food on the ship i haven’t had any any real complaints about food uh the main dining room especially food came out hot fresh uh on time you know i mean we’ve been getting to dinner within an hour i’m down to my dessert didn’t show up tonight so I’m down to my dessert and it’s been a half an hour so I’m going to have the uh grandma may sule and my coffee the only complaint I would have about the food and it this is throughout the ship the three options is the coffee coffee is some of the weakest coffee that I’ve ever had uh one of the MSSE ships I had had had a real weak coffee but this is this is comparable to that if not worse but other than the coffee the food has been good uh what’s this day 12 day 13 whatever it is um every meal has been different now it might be a play on something you know beef this beef that pork this pork turkey this might be a play but the food has been good and hot fresh in in a timely manner i I can’t complain and you know I told you earlier we had a table for eight be we didn’t show up tonight so I’m at a table by myself i’m enjoying it you have to dig a hole uh dig a hole okay like right in here all right got the sule going here sweet thank you so much that looks delicious and it’s uh 7:59 started 7:30 7:59 working on this finishing my coffee going to be a good night if you like the chocolate melting cake I think you would absolutely love this Grand May Sule i think you would love it kind of the same principle but better okay now the watch said 8:07 but it was at 8:05 i was done with dinner 35 minutes from start to finish hot food i don’t know where the kitchen is on this ship but they’re going back and getting the food and coming out with it hot fresh my goodness it’s good i love this i love it i’m loving the piano guy that guy has been playing in the uh he’s been playing piano every day i love the piano with the dinner i love it heat [Music] heat [Music]

Wow Bill this is a great vlog, visiting Hirsoshima looks like a really moving experience.
Great video, Bill!
very good Video Bill, seeing the old blown out buildings must have been so surreal. bet it was really something to see in person.
Aww Bill! This was quite touching with the tour of Hiroshima. The details and information shared about the devastation to the area and the people had to be very moving in person. The buildings and bridges left standing would surely be a testament of strength and survival but I can see how some people at the time would have wanted them demolished to forget what had happened. The spot that you chose to sit and reflect was nice my friend. I appreciate this rare glimpse of this side of W.Armstrong. The story of Sadako Sasaki and her wish for a return of her good health by creating 1K paper cranes made me cry my friend. The Children’s Peace Monument definitely deserved a spot in the vlog right along with your reflection spot across from The Atomic Dome building monument. Thanks so much for sharing this my friend. To be able to say that you’ve visited Hiroshima, Japan as well as Pearl Harbor, Hawaii is a true testament to your travels and love of history. Back to the ship…that burger was interesting. A catastrophe of ingredients from the ship’s kitchen is what it sounds like…lol. Oh my! I like a good Carolina Style cheese burger, but this has ALOT going on! Glad dinner was bit more on the simpler side. That was wonderful of the Captain to be able to have local musicians to come aboard from the evening entertainment. That was special. A nice sail away. Thanks so much for bringing us along my friend. Continued blessed and safe travels. 😊🗺️🚢⛩️🫶🏾
