The Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2025 Global Liveability Index placed 173 cities worldwide, and only one Asian city is in the top 10
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has recently released its ranking of the world’s most liveable cities with 173 cities for 2025, and only one Asian city is in the top 10: Osaka at seventh position.
Japan’s Osaka has maintained its place in the top 10 for five consecutive years, climbing from 9th place last year to 7th this year. Copenhagen tops this year’s list, ending Vienna’s three-year reign as the world’s most liveable city. The rest of the top 10 remained largely unchanged, except for Calgary, Canada, which dropped out due to lower healthcare scores.
The methodology of EIU’s Global Liveability Index is based on healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure and environment.
