4K | Hokkaido Trip in Asahikawa DAY1 | 2025

We’re heading to Mt. Asahidake in Daisetsuzan. We’ve arrived at the Asahidake Ropeway station. Since it snowed the day before, many skiers have gathered at Asahidake. We’ll take the ropeway up to Sugatami Station, located halfway up the mountain. In April, spring is approaching in Hokkaido, but up in the mountains, it’s still deep winter. The skies have cleared, and Mt. Asahidake has come into view. Mt. Asahidake is the tallest mountain in Hokkaido. It’s a volcano, and you can see steam rising from the crater—but this view is only possible during the snowy winter season. On the first floor of the Asahidake Ropeway station, you’ll find souvenirs and local goods for sale. On the second floor, there’s a restaurant where you can enjoy meals like ramen and curry. Now, we’re heading into downtown Asahikawa. Along the way, we’re stopping at a roadside station called “Michi-no-Eki: Michikusakan”. At Michikusakan, you can buy local ingredients, snacks, and sake from the region. We’ve arrived at Asahikawa Station. Time to grab some dinner. We’re going to “Ginneko”, a popular restaurant in Asahikawa. Their “Shinko-yaki”, a local Asahikawa specialty, is absolutely delicious. While walking through the city at night, we discovered a place that looked tasty. It’s a shop called “Saryo”. The video of Day 2 of our Asahikawa trip will be coming next—stay tuned!

We had a wonderful time on our 2-day trip to Asahikawa.
