Why it’s better to follow the crowd #japan #japantravel #osaka #osakaexpo
if you’re waiting in these massive crowds to enter the most popular event this year you’re doing it right and here’s why yes the West Gate at the Esaka Expo looks empty but what they don’t tell you is it’s more expensive to get there since you have to pay for both subway and bus and what’s worse is they made us wait 30 minutes to buy a bus ticket even though there was no line whereas for East Gate the subway drops you off right in front and don’t tell anyone but if you see these security guards at line 21 they’ll get you in before everyone else following and Kevin for more of our experiences and tips at the Osaka Road Expo
Save this for the best way into Japan’s biggest event 💌 Part 7 of our adventures at the Osaka World Expo 2025! 🇯🇵
During our 7 days at the Osaka World Expo, we tried entering through both the East and West Gates and had very different experiences 😳
The organizers are telling everyone to use the West Gate as there’s less crowds, but the reality is it’s harder to get to, more expensive 💸, takes longer to get to, and most of the popular country pavilions are near the East Gate like US & France.
Our experience trying to get to the West Gate was awful 😤 We got blocked from getting on the shuttle at Sakurajima Station and forced to navigate a buggy app 📲 for 30 min trying to reserve a ticket when the website told us we didn’t need reservations.
The app kept erroring out, and the workers at the shuttle 🚌 not only didn’t help us, but actively prevented us from using the machines, despite no line, to buy tickets until an arbitrarily long time later 😠
Although East Gate looks crowded, it’s easier to use, cheaper, and doesn’t require pre-planning. We usually arrived by 8:20 AM for a 9 AM ticket entry, and we’re in by 9:20 AM ⏰
Our secret tip 🤫 is go to security line 21 on the left because the security there manages the line so effectively that our line moved faster than others. We did this 3 days straight, and it worked every time 😍 One of them also speaks English!
If you’re still planning on using the West Gate, download the shuttle app and book your time, or take a taxi 🚕 from Sakurajima Station.
