⁴ᴷ Akita: Akita Station (秋田県: 秋田駅) – Japan Walking Tour (June, 2025)
I set out on a journey through the Tohoku region, passing through Niigata along the way. Since it coincided with the start of the rainy season, the first half of the trip was plagued by rain and equipment trouble, so I couldn’t film as much as I had hoped. Fortunately, the weather improved in the second half, and I gradually got used to the new gear I had introduced, which allowed me to resume filming. That said, I noticed a clicking noise in the footage, likely caused by the new bicycle I was using. I’ll need to find a way to fix that moving forward.
My route took me from Niigata through Yamagata and on to Akita Prefecture. I started by walking around the area near Akita Station. In the shopping arcade in front of the station, I saw young people skateboarding, giving the place a lively vibe. In the entertainment district known as Kawabata, men trying to draw in customers stood along the streets, adding to the bustling nighttime atmosphere.
After filming, I had a funny little moment. In front of the “AK♡TA” monument near Akita Station, some locals asked me to take their photo. I couldn’t help but laugh — I’m the tourist here, aren’t I?
