Japan Travel Tips: Best Hotels for Families, Yokohama & Sapporo Travel Vlog
I get summertime depression in
Japan where I just hibernate I don’t like to leave my house I don’t like to travel I don’t like to do anything
because it’s just so uncomfortable so when Mitsui Garden invited my son
and I to stay at some of their hotels I was like this is the perfect way
and excuse to get out of my house because it’s starting to cool off
a little bit and it’s kind of like the jump start I needed to enjoy traveling again so in today’s video we are
going to Yokohama for a day, then we are going to fly… to Sapporo! one of my favorite places in Japan night one of our adventure brings us to the Mitsui Garden Yokohama
Minatomirai Premiere location and I’m really excited because
it is so beautiful inside we’re going to put my stroller
and my luggage inside the room so when I come back later it’s already there thank you so much for your help Okay Going on an Adventure? we are at Sakuragicho station which was
such an easy walk to get here maybe took 10 minutes with a walking toddler
but if you’re on your own and you’ve got long legs then you can get here a lot faster It gives you access to one of the
ends of the Yokohama Air Cabin [Music] whoaaa Are you excited? hello good job [Music] what do you think? it seems awesome it’s awesome? yeah you like going on adventures? is it a train? where do you want to go? I want to go that one you want to ride that? yeah okay! let’s do it okay let’s do it we’re walking into Cosmo World
Cosmo World is an amusement park and it is free to go in you just pay for
the rides and the games you want to play [Music] I’m getting hangry and so I’m trying
to leave and he won’t leave trying to go find somewhere else to get some food this
really cute American style diner food court ice cream to share which he’ll probably just try to eat all himself I got an iced coffee
because I really needed a pick-me-up we got some french fries and chicken nuggets in true toddler fashion my son decided that he
does NOT want to go on the ferris wheel anymore we’re going to start heading back to the hotel
to check in and just like relax a little bit we’re going to take the Air Cabin on the way back what do you think of our adventure so far? it’s… adventure not are you having fun? nooooo adventure time
[Music] oh and the luggage that you dropped earlier
yes is already in your room and also the bed guard
and the diaper box are already in your room I forgot about the diaper box thank you so much oh my gosh did you just get a little
teddy bear oh my gosh that’s so cute this is the beautiful outdoor pool area it
has beautiful panoramic views of Yokohama this is the indoor pool area it
looks so relaxing I wish you guys could smell this because it smells so amazing what is that
that’s soup that’s soup
yeah say hello
hello we’re checking in here’s our room wow
our stuff is already here robot robot sleeping yeah robot’s sleeping wow this is so
beautiful this room is so gorgeous and what I really love about it is that they have
Incorporated the essence of Maritime into the room itself because Yokohama is a huge
major port city so a lot of the stuff stuff here is maritime themed like the shapes of the
buildings and just every essence of it and so this is supposed to look like a Captain’s
Quarters or like you’re on a cruise ship there’s a lot of rounded
edges in the room like this the bathroom and toilet are back here and
it’s seriously so beautiful I can’t wait to take a shower is that weird to say
it’s so nice diaper pail too so parents don’t forget that you can ask for
one of these when you check in a reservation at the bar at 5 I did like an
early cocktail with him and I think they’re going to make something for him but we’re
going to just relax in the room until then and then we have a dinner reservation at 5:30
and I’m so excited because it’s Italian food [Music] we ordered him a peach fresh peach juice
cocktail mocktail um half peach juice and half sparkling soda it’s spicy it’s a little
spicy right I need drink this first okay we call sparkling water spicy watery it’s good so mine
is frozen it is so beautiful it’s a frozen rum drink and like a Japanese lime and pears
so cheers oh wow that is so refreshing we have our dinner reservation at 5:30 so we’re just going to walk over to
the restaurant and check in [Music] oh my gosh this is so cute the menu looks so amazing they have a dinner
course which takes about an hour and a half with a toddler I don’t really have time for
that so I’m going to do the a la carte menu oh okay hey hey we’ve got a kids spaghetti brought
him his own kids plate and three slices of bread [Music] [Music] that shower was incredible
this is my son’s little toiletry pouch that they put in here too they gave him
this cute little washcloth look at his little slippers so cute look how cute our little
matching robes are and then even on the pocket it says Mitsui Garden Hotel on it
tomorrow morning their breakfast buffet is supposed to be really incredible so I will
see you guys bright and early in the morning good morning let’s go to breakfast have a breakfast buffet it’s Kanagawa
salad so it’s like local ingredients cheese and salmon beef Curry next you want some of
these the little cakes are so cute this looks so good chocolate look they have uh chocolate
croissant donuts chocolate croissant potatoes dumpling fresh fruit sausage I got yogurt
with granola the scrambled eggs are the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever seen at a hotel these
look so amazing my mouth is actually watering donut I got curry rice a salad French toast and
then we have coffee fresh squeezed orange juice and then they’re making these fresh smoothies
I’m really excited to try this excuse me sir how is your breakfast no is it yummy yeah it’s
mustard spicy mustard I’m not really sure what they did to these eggs but they are so good
you don’t have to eat it it’s just on your that doughnut is so good wow checked out of the hotel and they organized a
taxi for us to Yokohama station they can organize a taxi service for you going to the airport
but there was a lot of traffic right now so I didn’t want to risk being late for a flight so
we’re going to commute to the airport check in and get on our flight to Sapporo and check into
our next Mitsui Garden location we just made it to Haneda Airport it was really easy to get here
we’re in Terminal 2 which is the domestic terminal and it’s actually quite busy for a weekday I kind
of wasn’t expecting to see so many Travelers but I do have my stroller um my big check luggage a
backpack and then a carry-on bag so I’m going to show you guys where the accessible check-in area
is a special assistance check-in that we are going to use it’s for families you’re pregnant you are
using a stroller or you have Toddlers and kids and you just need extra help and assistance
this is where you want to come and check in they also provide strollers for you so if you want
to go ahead and check your stroller through you can pick up one of these and it has space for
your luggage so you can kind of do it all in one best parts is that it’s free anyone can use
it as long as you like obviously qualify for it we’re actually going to go ahead and get food
snacks and drinks um because once you go through security here it’s there’s just like not a lot
of options I’m so happy we found the Kids Corner burn off a little bit of energy got a little
airplane and a slide trying to make our way to our gate [Music]
[Music] [Music] it feels so incredible to be back in
Hokkaido there are very few places in this world that make me feel the same way that Hokkaido
does I just feel so at peace here like if I could probably live anywhere in Japan it would
be here the last time I was here I was with a group of girlfriends and we spent 10 days just
driving around Hokkaido hiking exploring really leaning into the nature experience here and
Hokkaido is kind of like the Colorado of Japan so it’s really famous in the winter time for
winter sports everybody comes here like even people from Australia will come here just to
go skiing and experience JAPOW Japanese powder we are now about to check into our hotel it
is the Mitsui Garden Sapporo West location we are so appreciative of them inviting
us to come experience their hotels I think maybe this one oh
it’s so cute okay thank you I have a genkan on oh my gosh this is so nice
oh man I was not expecting it to be so big we have like a living area hello Hokkaido oh my
gosh they have the little baby the little kids pajama sets again I’m like obsessed with these
that is such a sweet little touch and and then the kids toiletries I love when the room comes
with a diaper pail wow these bathrooms are so nice and I love the shower oh my gosh y’all
the shower has an actual view of the mountain we’re on our way to dinner I as the hotel
staff if they could recommend something to me just walking distance like I don’t want to
take a stroller I just want something kind of low-key and local and I’m really excited to
show you you guys what they recommended and where we’re going cuz it is a Hokkaido delicacy
here we are it’s called Hiri Hiri there’s like nobody in here so this is either going to
be a really good or really bad thing all I really wanted when I came to Hokkaido curry
soup and it looks like they have a ton of different kinds I’m so overwhelmed in the best
way possible I’m going ask somebody recommends first a chicken cut it I’m so excited
right now I ordered a nama Biru which is the house beer oh my gosh this looks so
good you guys so we’ve got our chicken thigh local vegetables our curry soup and it comes
with rice and then of course he brought me spicy stuff on the side let see that’s
yummy wow it’s as if a like an amazing chicken soup was Curry flavored you happy yeah
this is going to be like a 10 out of 10 for me good morning you guys it’s our first and only
full day in Sapporo and we’re up early because the hotel has uh breakfast organized for us
at a market so we have to go catch the bus so we’re going to head downstairs really quickly
cuz I’m kind of running behind starting off our morning at Kitanogurume or Kitano Gourmet
their mascot is a hairy crab and his name is Kipiki this Market is celebrating 75 years in
business and nothing says Hokkaido quite like fresh seafood at 8:30 in the morning go
inside and get exploring of king crab it is hairy crab wow that’s the hairy crab oh
my gosh it’s so cute they look like little furry animals is that cool no no lots of stuff
that you can purchase to take home with you or even make soups and dashi wow that is huge oh
my gosh this is too it does look like a spider so he’s over there shredding the seaweed and
they actually have the soup for you to try you want more oh he loves it sukidesu yeah I
think this is going to Mitsui Garden provides you with your little breakfast voucher so I
just put on the table and they collected it and they brought me a menu which shows you the
different sets that you can get with it it’s about 9:30 in the morning and the restaurant
is only like half full so I think if you’re visiting Sapporo and you want to do something
in the morning and experience like seafood for breakfast Hokkaido style this is such a fun way
to do that oh my gosh I am beyond happy right now let me show you what this looks like is the
star of our show it’s a piping hot bowl of rice with different types of Sashimi on top scallops
salmon tuna I see squid oysters sweet shrimp crab tamago and a white fish I am so excited
right now my set also comes with this miso soup with crab inside this is the Hokkaido salmon
with a heaping pile of daikon which is fresh shredded radish I don’t think it gets any more
Hokkaido than this at 9:00 in the morning the [Music] tuna my gosh I’m so happy right
now so we’re going to try the scallop oh oh my gosh
the crab oh I love squid I’m like the happiest person ever
right now I’m having such an amazing foodie experience that I like would absolutely be
recommending this for you guys to come visit too 30 seconds away from the fish market
there’s this cute little coffee shop in the alleyway and I found like a chocolate
drink and lattes I need a little pick-me-up hai thank you so much so let’s order something
hi honey got what do you think of your
very first chocolate milk it’s not chocolate milk
what is it it’s chocolate drink
it’s yummy I bet it is
I got just an ice latte and it is very very strong it’s exactly what I needed
*not sure what he’s saying* can I try
you you almost finish it oh my gosh we just arrived at the Mount Moiwa Ropeway
it’s at the Sanryoku Station the last time I was here I hiked to the top and then took
the ropeway down is absolutely stunning it’s been shaded the whole time but we have some
really beautiful morning light coming in it’s actually quite a leisurely hike I have like
trekking boots on but you could easily do this in sneakers if that’s all that you brought with
you the locals on the trail and it’s stunning [Music] At the top of the mountain they actually have something
you can put a love lock on and attaching a Love Lock here just solidifies your bond and I
just want to make sure we have a very healthy Mother-Son relationship as time goes on right next
to the vending machine they actually have um like a little marker so you can write a message on it
do you want to write on it I’m going to write on one side and I’m going to have him write on the
the other side it comes with a little heart key and then the heart lock as suspected there is
absolutely no visibility up here um but this is where you can ring the bell and hang your lock
so I’m going to get him to do that with me right now the satellite of lovers Sanctuary impart
the joy and the magic of encounters Blissful marriages and raising a happy home we send our
blessings to your encounters and wish you a wonderful future that is so cute my advice to
you guys is to only come if there’s visibility I’m going to insert footage of what it
looks like from the last time I was here I went back to the hotel so that we could
have a rest for a little bit and I grabbed the stroller because my son is napping and I
figured this is the perfect opportunity to come to the train station to do some souvenir
shopping now this is Sapporo station it is literally like 5 minutes if you hit red
lights at the intersection to walk here it is really really close to Mitsui Garden Sapporo
West a ton of shopping here you can literally find anything you want from International Brands
to made in Japan exclusive stores and things like that it’s actually quite overwhelming you could
probably spend an entire day here so if you have a bad weather day this is like the perfect place
to go this is the Hokkaido market and it’s right here at the train station exit and entrance to
the department stores everything inside is going to be local items from Hokkaido I love this
huge produce section furano melons I’ve seen them like being sold everywhere they’re they’re
pretty expensive 6,000 Yen just for one they do have the little sets like this so I’m going to
buy one of these this so cute in here you could find like literally anything you need last time
year I bought these corn chocolates don’t let the name freak you out they kind of just taste like
chocolate covered Rice Krispies whole section of curries and soup curries these would be such
good souvenirs because they travel so easily I’m getting two of the chicken original chicken soup
curries cuz it was so amazing last night that I need to take two of them home for crazy busy in
there that was really hard to navigate with my stroller and I have a really narrow stroller
I ended up just shipping all of the stuff to my house except for the fresh produce I just
bought uh some melon that I’m excited to try [Music] this Buffet starts at 6:30 a lot of hotels
don’t start that early um which is actually really nice because he gets me up at like 5:30
so we are headed to the breakfast buffet it’s on the second floor with the restaurant and
the large public bath there is a bath here, my son’s just too little to enjoy it [Music] fresh fruit and salad bar I love when hotels
highlight local dishes like this local octopus salad and chicken Hokkaido potato porridge soup
curry on the breakfast menu you can top it with different steamed vegetables lots of different
kinds of potatoes the Hokkaido local Gourmet Foods I just did my best to get a little bit
of everything local scallop breakfast wrap it’s their special for today and then I love that
they provided kids plates and utensils and high chairs it just makes it so much easier the staff
was really awesome asking if they could help me with anything um so I was really appreciative
of that but we’re going to sit here and enjoy this amazing breakfast before just like relaxing
in our room for a bit cuz we do check out today after breakfast we came back to the room and
I’ve been rotting away because we’ve been so busy we already packed our stuff and I just have
the pajamas on over my clothes right now I think we are going to get up and get going soon and go
to Odori park so that my son can run around and stretch his legs before we fly home we’ve made
it to Odori park which is only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel it was a really easy walk
and it’s also very close to Sapporo station but Odori park is kind of like the Central Outdoor
space within the city so there’s a lot going on here depending on what time of year you’re here I
believe they do illuminations during winter time obviously right now the Landscaping is incredible
with rainbow flowers pretty much everywhere I was not expecting it to be so beautiful this time of
year it’s the 2nd of October right now and then in the background you can see Sapporo TV tower
it’s really giving me Paris Vibes which I kind of love but yeah old park great place to bring
family friends there’s lots of food snacks vending machines just to enjoy being outside really happy
because the autumn leaves are supposed to be fully changed in Hokkaido in like 2 weeks and so I’m
actually getting to see them early changing right now specifically came here before our flight so
that my son could run around and play and get his energy out but he has decided to sleep through
the entire experience so it’s traveling with a kid for you time we make our way to the airport
and get home but I wanted to thank my friends over at Mitsui Garden again for inviting my son and I
to stay at their hotel if you are looking for a reliable safe comfortable convenient Hotel chain
to poop around no matter what your adventure is in Japan make sure you guys book with them and with
that I’ll see you guys in the next adventure bye

Soooooo so so happy to be staying at my fav hotel chain! I’ve been a customer for YEARS AND YEARS of Mitsui Garden. I hope you get a chance to stay at one of their (many many many!!) locations across Japan when you visit!
Hokkaido is nice adventure to know but experience is incredible!👍🇯🇵😃🎁🎊😋
I’m so sad I discovered you after I travelled to Japan with my two year old! We had a great trip but still, I’m a planner and this would have been perfect.
Going again within the next few years for sure though.
Not the tiny hotel robe, oh my goodnessssss. 🥹
Lovely video and information on family travelling to Japan.
As you mentioned many from Australia head to Sapporo which in part is due to over the top accommodation charges, hire costs and lift pass prices. This was raised in a travel article in a Sydney newspaper.
Jealous of your travels
Baby atlas is so adorable.. baby vloger. What a great memory for both of you ❤
Oh, that's my town. If you live here, unless you live in an apartment, you have to prepare to shovel snow from your front door almost every day during the winter.
That kaisendon looked so good🤤
いいな〜北海道行ってみたい🥺
Your son is beyond adorable!! I have a 2 year old and this video is getting me excited for all the 1:1 adventures him and I are going to get into. Thank you for sharing your little one with us ❤
dialog only comes out on the left channel.
You might never see this but, it felt worth mentioning anyway. The talking on this video only comes out of the left earbud. I always listen with only one earbud in (the right one) and noticed that I saw the closed captions but couldn't hear you talking. Not sure if it is a youtube uploading issue, or the audio track in your editing software got split. Just wanted to give you a heads up! This is the first time I've had this happen on one of your videos.
Anyone only having sound on the left when she’s talking??

This vlog is just adorable
I love this! You're son is speaking so much too! His little, 'let's do it,' was the sweetest thing ever
love your stuff more videos random every day stuff, cheers
Love the Mitsui Garden Hotel lines of hotels. I stayed there in 2023 when they first opened! Love them!!!
