KOBE ShioyaHello . With the vibrant hydrangeas, it’s the season to feel the rainy season coming🍭This time, I’m going to take a walk in Shioya, a town where you can feel the sea and the mountains. Recently, it seems that many wonderful shops have been gathering, so let’s look forward to visiting them♪ (※This is a summary of the shops I visited on multiple days) First, I visited a traditional Japanese cafe in a back alley, not far from the station. Lunch is by reservation only. You can enjoy a medicinal lunch at this authentic Taiwanese cafe. The restaurant is a renovated 100-year-old traditional Japanese house, and it has a cozy space. I ordered a Taiwanese-style rice set. It also came with steamed dishes and soup. The medicinal soup… was delicious and nutritious… My husband ordered a set of noodles with thickened sauce. It came with dumplings of pork and fish paste, and they were delicious! Let’s have a taste. The chewy noodles, with a touch of delicious Taiwanese black vinegar…♡ The dessert of douhua (touhua) and tea were also included, and the volume was very satisfying. It was a delicious lunch that gave me a taste of Taiwan. Thank you for the meal. Now, let’s stop by the complex next door. It was opened mainly by the owner of the “Ryu Cafe” mentioned earlier, and it seems that there are several nice shops in the two-story building. Let’s go to the second floor… A shop that mainly sells additive-free soaps, fragrances, and daily necessities. Soap with a very nice scent…! It is said to be rich in moisturizing ingredients, and as a soap lover, I am very interested (lol) . The shop also holds workshops using essential oils. Next door is “Mikazukiya”, which sells tableware. The tableware is soft and warm… The owner trained in Kyoto and Ishikawa and made beautiful tableware. The concept is “familiar scenery”. Thank you for visiting! Shioya is a town of slopes. As we get closer to the mountain, gazing at the sea and Awaji Island below, we head up the hill to our next destination – we’ve arrived at a wonderful gallery. This gallery exhibits various works every month, mainly featuring works by other artists. On the day we visited, there was an exhibition of works by Chiba Prefecture ceramicist Koji Takagi. The work is made using a technique called “saido”, and has a complex expression like stone. The plump feel that fits in your hand is also wonderful, so we bought one piece. another dayI visited this gallery at the end of April, but I was told that the next month’s exhibition will also be wonderful, so I visited again on another day. It was an exhibition by two glass artists, Sayaka Kanazu and Shiho Kurihara. They use the same glassblowing technique, but each has their own unique style. Kanazu’s snow globes are sold by lottery❄️A beautiful, sparkling worldI also liked the plump atmosphere of Kurihara’s glass. The best part of a gallery is being able to see wonderful works that stand out. Thank you! Next, let’s take a break at the cafe ☕ From the white sign, go up the stairs outside. This shop is run by a design firm, and the cafe space is at the back of the shop that sells Hyogo’s specialty products. I changed the gelato to strawberry. It felt good… It was a bit hot that day, so I had a refreshing soda and gelato~🍓 The sun was still high, but I had a beer in a big gulp 🥂 The sunlight coming through the window was comfortable, and it was a relaxing cafe. It was delicious, thank you for the meal. Next, we went to a British confectionery specialty store with a cute exterior… Authentic British confectionery made by the owner, a confectioner who learned the basics in the UK. There are a variety of traditional British sweets, including scones. After all, scones are a must-have…♡ I’m looking forward to eating them at home! Now, it’s time to climb the hill again. Let’s have a late lunch… They are open about two days a week, and you can eat in bento boxes and sandwiches. After a long climb up the hill, we found a cute space that felt like a reward… My husband and I shared a sandwich filled with fillings. It was more voluminous than I expected! But the deli has a delicate taste and is very delicious – this “Deli Box” is also popular. Today, I’ll have it at home as a takeout. I was able to enjoy delicious bread in a natural space. It was delicious, thank you for the meal. Next, we went to a chocolate shop that I wanted to visit… A bean to bar chocolate specialty store that handles the entire process from cacao beans to product production. We were given an explanation and were able to try the chocolates, and each one really had its own unique taste…! I came here! In the cafe space, there seems to be a menu that allows you to enjoy chocolate to your heart’s content. Next time, I’d like to enjoy it at a leisurely pace – thank you for stopping by. We headed back via Shioya’s famous slope and the former Guggenheim House. The former Guggenheim House holds a free tour once a month on the third Thursday. Shioya is a nostalgic town where you can feel the mountains and the sea. Recently, more and more people are being drawn to this town and are moving there.
