We Spent 48 Hours in Fukushima – Good Food, Warm People, and Quiet Streets
so what can you do in Fukushima you ask well we’ll show you come on let’s go [Music] it looks like a ghost town there’s no one in the streets literally a ghost town so we only have 48 hours in Fukushima not ideal we know but when you’re traveling sometimes you just got to make the most out of a short window pack light and roll with things [Music] how are you [Music] good good we’re searching for some lunch cuz we’re starving and check-in is only at 3:00 in every hotel here so we have to make some time exploring the streets [Music] [Music] it’s very calm very uh it’s similar to Fuji actually the city so I think a little bit similar but yeah it’s so peaceful very very peaceful we started with a little temple hopping around the city some tucked away in the trees and some right in the middle of quiet neighborhoods there’s also a very peaceful vibe everywhere and the whole city is just like taking a deep breath so you really feel the calmness around you you stumble on temples from 5 minutes to 5 minutes wait if you are new to the channel welcome i’m Vasco and I’m Sarah and if you like Japan and traveling in general and vlogs and cool experiences consider subscribing we quit our jobs and we came all the way to Japan for a full year to discover all it has to offer so yeah we’re on the road to reach 1K followers and without you we can’t do it so you know follow along back to the video we are looking for dinner we actually booked a table for uh yaki for yakiniku which is uh a place where you grill your own meat it’s very common in Japan yeah this one looks promising so yeah we’ll check it out mother duck what the so yeah let’s see [Music] [Music] heat heat [Music] fukushima is a very cool city so far i was not expecting it to be as cool but it it it just looks like a ghost town there’s no one in the streets literally a ghost town [Music] we didn’t come in with a big plan no spreadsheet itinerary just a little curiosity and a lot of hunger and honestly that turned out to be the best way to explore the city so one of the points you can explore here at Fukushima is also the Perfecto Museum of Art and also behind it you can see one of the observation points of the city that allows you to have like a whole view of the city as well up there it’s a hell of a hike but it’s also worth it if you have time and if it’s uh also good outside [Music] i will not speak too much about it otherwise I’ll get emotional but we are missing Emmy quite a lot and yeah we decided to buy an amulet that basically protects your pet and when we get back we’ll put one half on her and the other half will always be with us but yeah [Music] we ended up trying to go to Isakaya that I had in our recommended list but it was closed it was closed okay because nothing works we ended up uh entering a random izakaya and midway we struck we struck a conversation with an older couple that was like two teacher there were two teachers one a a music teacher and a a woman that was a sports teacher and they bought us drinks and we ended up spending the rest of the night just laughing our asses off and then the man was so drunk that he ended um falling asleep on the bench and then they said they wanted to see us again that they wanted us to come back to Fukushima um again and they would do a guoza party at their place i think it was the best moment so far so far is really nice [Music] so yeah overall this was a short trip but a great one fukushima wasn’t flashy or fastpaced but that’s what made it stand out good food good people and good vibes so we’re definitely coming back we are going to go to Nikico now hopefully we’ll get there in like 3 hours more or less so yeah exciting [Music]
We spent 48 peaceful hours in Fukushima, Japan — exploring its calm streets, visiting quiet shrines, and enjoying some amazing local food. Far from the usual tourist crowds, this trip was all about slowing down and experiencing everyday life in a lesser-known but deeply beautiful part of Japan.
From cozy izakayas to friendly locals, Fukushima offered us warmth, simplicity, and a sense of connection that’s hard to find in big cities. We captured not only the sights but also the feeling of being fully present in a place rich with history and heart.
