people work in sync at the world famous scramble crossing to create a brilliant flow of energy and light next we’ll visit Senoji Temple a beloved Tokyo landmark in Asakusa strolling down the bustling Nakamse shopping street filled with quirky souvenirs and delicious regional snacks we’d finally arrive at the impressive temple gates leading to the breathtaking main hall [Music] in the neon lit district of Akihabara your tour will lead you to the land of anime and gaming we’ll check out multi-story arcades pop into themed cafes and shop for the hottest gadgets and collectibles akihabara is a nerds wonderland and offers an insight into Tokyo’s advanced pop culture [Music] no trip to Tokyo would be complete without tasting its world famous food we’ll head to Tsukiji Outer Market and try one of the freshest sushi and seafood that Japan has to offer the bustling market is a feast for the senses with vendors selling everything from sashimi to street food it’s an ideal spot for a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine for some high-end retail therapy we’ll visit the Ginsa district with its luxury boutiques high-end department stores and chic architecture Ginsa is a shopper’s paradise we’ll walk along the stylish streets window shopping perhaps allowing ourselves a special treat a vibrant nightife awakens as nightfalls in Tokyo we’ll explore the neon stained streets of Shinjuku which is brimming with karaoke izakayas and rockus bars if things seem too chaotic we’ll head for the serene gardens of Shinjuku Joen or the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for panoramic [Music] views kyoto moving between [Music] centuries following we head to Kyoto the cultural epicenter of Japan we’ll explore the evocative bamboo groves of Arashiamyama where the hushed otherworldly sound of rattling swaying stalks rises overhead on our walks through the woods we listen to the crunch of leaves beneath our feet too soothing to be anything but a lush carpet of nature we will also visit the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine known for thousands of vermilion colored Tory gates that create a path up the mountain side the colorful red gate highlights vividly with the green surroundings and is truly a sight to behold each is donated by an individual or a business and the shrine is rich with deep cultural and historical significance next we’ll visit the calm beauty of King Kaku Ji the golden pavilion this golden leafed Zen Buddhist temple sits beside a pond and its reflection on the water creates a picture literally and figuratively perfect scene the perfectly manicured gardens that surround the pavilion are a glimpse at Japanese landscaping mastery and provide a meditative escape [Music] be sure not to miss the traditional tea ceremonies in Gion the historic Geisha district we’ll take part in an authentic tea ceremony learning the art of preparing tea and enjoying the meditative aspect of this practice wooden sands that transport us back in time in the historic streets of Gon [Music] it’s impossible not to take a walk along the philosophers’s path particularly during cherry blossom season during springtime this picturesque shroud of flowering canopies along the canal comes alive with cherry trees forming an impressive tunnel filled with pink petals and fantastic [Music] sights named after the philosopher NishidaQaro who allegedly meditatively walked this path it’s an ideal spot for solo travelers looking to reflect and commune with nature [Music] hiroshima a city of peace and [Music] reflection we journey to the land of Hiroshima a city once destroyed that has turned into a beacon of peace we’ll make a stop at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum to learn the city’s history and resilience the park and the attached museum memorializes the victims of the atomic bombing and stands as a somber reminder of the past and as a hopeful symbol for the future we’ll visit the museum’s exhibits that tell a moving story of the events and of the city’s remarkable recovery then we’re heading to beautiful Miaima Island one of Japan’s most picturesque places it’s a beautiful view of this world famous gate against the backdrop of the Sto inland sea we’ll also hike the steep path up Mount M whose summit views provide outstanding panoramas of land and sea in the city of Hiroshima we will also stop by Hiroshima Castle a reconstruction of the original which was destroyed in 1945 [Music] the grounds of the castle and the surrounding moat are absolutely gorgeous particularly during Sakura season within the castle we will discover one of the museums describing historic Hiroshima before the war to show us a clearer picture of the [Music] city to sample some local fair we’ll have Hiroshima style okonomiyaki a savory pancake layered with items such as cabbage pork and noodles grilled on a hot plate a must try and a reflection of Hiroshima’s unique culinary heritage this is a hearty dish we’ll visit Okonomimura a multifloor building packed with okonomiyaki restaurants each with its own spin on this beloved dish [Music] osaka foodie paradise next is Osaka a city known for its exciting night life and amazing street food we’ll walk through Doten Bori the city’s busy entertainment area bright with neon signs and enormous billboards we’ll taste local treats such as takoyaki which are balls of octopus and okonomiyaki savory pancakes the vibrant street food stalls and eeries boast an enticing variety of flavors sure to delight any food lover we will next stop at Osaka Castle a historic structure encircled with picturesque gardens and moes its magnificent architectural design and historical significance offer tourists a unique insight into the feudal era of Japan we’ll tour the castle grounds explore the museum inside and climb to the top of the castle for panoramic views of the city in contrast we’ll go modern with a visit to the Umeida Sky Building a futuristic skyscraper with a gas station on the roof we’ll take the glass elevator to the floating garden observatory our next stop where we’re treated to breathtaking 360Β° views of Osaka’s skyline the observatory provides a prime spot to take in stunning sunsets and nighttime vistas of the city now we find ourselves in Shinsaiibashi a busy shopping street known for its lively ambiance and variety of stores whether in a high-end boutique or a quirky store Shinsaiashi caters to every taste we’ll wander the covered arcade checking out everything from fashion to souvenir shops and soak up the vibrant [Music] atmosphere as the sun sets so does Osaka’s night life we will venture to the entertainment quarter known as Namba where we will find karaoke izakayas Japanese pubs and jolly good bars grand temples and sprawling parks by day osaka can feel like a more urban city that becomes infectious when the sun goes down making it a perfect destination for solo travelers wanting to delve into local culture or just party n a walk with [Music] deer n the home of friendly free roaming deer and historic buildings is just a short trip from Osaka the first stop will be at Nara Park to meet the famous deer that wander around freely these gentle beings are revered and symbolize the city we also get the chance to feed them special deer crackers called Shika Senbe and interact with their friendly nature up close the picture of deer wandering the park is very peaceful with temples and gardens in the background giving the place a magical touch next we’ll visit Tadaii Temple which is one of Japan’s most famous and historically significant temples within the giant wooden structure we will see the Dutsu or Great Buddha a bronze statue 15 m tall nothing can prepare you for the majestic statue and the temple’s beautiful architecture also on the temple grounds we’ll see the Nandimon Gate a large wooden structure flanked by two fiercelooking statues of neo guardians we then stroll through Isuan Garden a classic Japanese garden that displays the art of landscape architecture there are two parts to the garden the front garden from the Edo period and the rear garden which was built during the Maji will stroll along the twisting paths take in the koi stuffed ponds and bask in its prettily pruned [Music] flora nestled in the world of flora and greenery the natural essence of Isuian garden is an idealistic retreat from the toxic city life we live in allowing us to take in the beauty of nature [Music] hakani relaxation in nature a change of pace we take a trip to Hakonei a scenic region known for hot springs and views of Mount Fuji we will enjoy a leisurely boat cruise on Lake Ashi with its quiet waters mirroring the gorgeous surrounding landscapes on clear days we will have stunning views of Mount Fuji from the deck and it’s a fantastic photo op the calming air of Ashi Lake is perfect to get away from the [Music] noise next we’ll take the Hakonei ropeway an aerial cable car with stunning views of Oakuani a volcanic valley with active sulfur vents and hot springs our climb will be rewarded with expansive views of the green valleys below and Mount Fuji in the distance you can find the numerous geothermal sites of Oakuani at the top where you can sample the famed black eggs boiled in sulfuric hot springs and experience the unusual volcano terrain one of the highlights of our trip to Hakonei is going to be soaking in an onsen or hot spring we’ll check into one of the Rioan Japanese insone many of which have onsen facilities here we’ll immerse ourselves in the mineral-rich hot springs to relieve the tension in our muscles and re-energize our spirits as we soak in the serene views of the garden onsen are Japan’s traditional hot springs and soaking in the healing therapeutic waters is an excellent way to refresh do be sure to visit the Hakonei Open Air Museum where a stunning outdoor gallery of sculptures looks out over the mountains we’ll walk through the beautifully manicured gardens and view large-scale artworks even dip our feet in the museum’s hot spring foot [Music] bath the opportunity to experience art intertwined with nature is something we cannot [Music] overlook separo Winter Wonderland if you’re going to Japan in the winter you have to see Saporro and Hokkaido we’ll visit the Saporro Snow Festival where gigantic ice sculptures and snow statues fill the streets but during the festival the flowers are instead made into intricate designs and towering sculptures that are beautifully illuminated at night we’ll stroll through Odori Park the main site and take in the craftsmanship and creativity on display we’ll warm ourselves with steaming bowls of miso ramen at a local ramen shop saporro is known for its thick and hearty miso ramen so we’ll gorge ourselves on the rich broth chewy noodles and hefty toppings a steaming bowl of ramen is the way to recharge and remain warm amid the chill of winter then we’ll travel to one of the neighboring ski resorts to enjoy some snow fun many ski resorts in Saporro Ta and Neco experience top-notch slopes and facilities whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie the powdery snow and stunning vistas make for an unrivaled day on the slopes if we can’t ski we can always try snowshoeing sledding or just marveling at a winter wonderland to round off our winter escapade we’ll check out the historic Saporro clock tower and Saporro Beer Museum yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Yokohama located at the edge of Yokohama Harbor the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a historical landmark of Japanese architecture the Twin Towers are red brick buildings that housed customs facilities and warehouses during the Maji period at the Beer Museum we’ll see how Saporro beer came to be and have a
