24 Hours on Japan’s Sleeper Train | 🇯🇵Sunrise Express Twin
Good evening I’ve arrived at Tokyo Station, aka the ultimate maze. Today is my first ride on the Sunrise Izumo. I’ll be riding in a ‘Single’ on the way there, and a ‘Sunrise Twin’ on the way back. This is the route for today. Tokyo (21:50) – Okayama (06:27) – Izumo City (10:00) Izumo (18:57) -Okayama (22:34) -Tokyo (7:08).
I’ll return the same way. First of all, the bento shop. It’s 8:45pm now. Bentos are pretty scarce at this time. It’s about time for the train to arrive, so let’s go. Here we at the usual platform 9. The Sunrise Twin on the way back is sold out in seconds. So, someone must have reluctantly cancelled their reservation. don’t know who it was, but thank you very much. Wowza Here comes the train! To the ladies filming with full concentration — watch your step! If something happens, it will ruin everyone’s trip. It’s a special trip, let’s make it a fun one! I was expecting the train to stop infront of the me. “Embrassing but relatable.” The only sleeper train in Japan that runs daily has arrived. Please drive safe, Mr. Conductor! This time, I’m going to eat soba noodles, Now I’m boarding the Izumo train. First of all, let’s buy a shower card. So many people in line… the pressure’s real. I got it! I still have a little time before going to my room, I’ll buy some snacks and beer. “Hello, I’m Solo Solo Travel.” “I didn’t know my parents when on a trip and filmed it, solo solo travel is absent this time around.” I will talk with “like this” “I’ll watch and share my thoughts during the trip as a viewer. “ Now, let’s go inside. First, the “single” room for the outbound journey is the most common among the Sunrise trains, with a total of 160 rooms. The total fare was 23,210 yen. Car 13, let’s enter from here. As you enter, there is a trash can and a room guide. Beyond that are the washroom and toilet, which are next to each other. There are two of these in each car. The toilets are always clean and nice. “It’s a strategy meeting with the parent and child.” You can wash your hands here as well. Now, here we go to our room, which is the most standard room. It’s perfect for solo travelers. It’s a double-decker train divided into upper and lower sections. Today, I got a downstairs room that feels more stable and doesn’t shake as much. I’m in Room 4. “It’s like a little hidden retreat — I love it.” A comfortable space with a large window. You can lock the door from the inside. Ohhhh, we’reeeee leavinggggg now. The view from this angle is quite rare. “Yes its like being inside an F1 car” Everyone in Tokyo, Bye bye. I’ll be back the day after tomorrow. “You can kinda tell my dad watches my videos a lot” “Hes kinda good at showing the detailed parts that I usually film as well” I really like the feeling of going through the darkness of the buildings at night. There are 7 cars in both Izumo and Seto, for a total of 14 cars. Alright, let’s start a room tour. We’re provided a robe and a pillow with the right firmness. “Please punch the pillow” “No punch, me Sad” A blanket. There is an electrical outlet. it’s tricky to plug this in while recording. Oh, It’s ashtray. Oh, I see. a cup. speaker There is a control panel. I always have the urge to press this “Like father like son” makes me want to turn it But it’s just an object. There are several light switches, which adjusts the brightness, and also the air conditioner. It’s sensitive to smoke. One hanger. That’s about it. Yokohama, the number one city in Japan. “I think my dad is getting sleepy, because the biggest city in Japan is Tokyo and not Yokohama” Wow, the realism is incredible. It’s fantastic in many ways. Is there anyone outside? Someone’s here. check check check I don’t remember anything from around Atami. ZZZZZZ Where am I? When I realized… It’s morning! “Looks like he got a good nights rest” A beautiful morning “Pretty nice sunrise” “Good stuff” 10 more minutes to Okayama… when did we pass Osaka? “The train passed by Osaka during the night, from Tokyo, it is not possible to get off in Osaka. Though It is possible to ride the train from Osaka to Tokyo.” I’m also pretty relaxed and staring blankly at the sky. “I wonder if he got off to take the uncoupling” The train is separated at Okayama Station. Everyone is early. “Ok good he did” Everyone is so serious. There are quite a few people. Seto passengers, this is where we say goodbye! Bye-bye Seto, see you soon. “This might be the worlds most famous uncoupling of a train” “Look at that crowd folks” Next, it’s Izumo’s turn. Hurry, we’ll miss it. Just in the nick of time. We made it. Everyone knows the special seats. As expected, this is what happens. There is also a conductor’s room. From here, the carriage tour. Going through here, We have the most reasonable seats on the Sunrise, It’s called “Nobinobi seats” Everyone has a fair amount of privacy, But the problem is that everyone will probably use These outlets together Oh, there was one here. I’m back in my room. The morning sun is the best. “Wait this video was filmed in like autumn?” “The sky does look crisp” The peaceful scenery of Japan is beautiful. There are a lot of copy-paste houses. “It’s cool being able to watch foliage during the summer I’m writing this down” From the room, I can just barely see the front car of the train. Oh, did you see them? A shrine in such a place. This is a lake famous for its clams. I can stare blankly at it. Oh, I almost forgot to take a shower. I’ve arrived at the shower room. We’ll be there soon, so let’s freshen up before then. You can use the shower for 6 minutes with the card Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are also available. When you’re done, press this button to keep it clean. The wind power on this hair dryer is so weak. I can’t complain because it’s FREE. “This hair dryer is your worst nightmare if you have long hair or volume” I felt so refreshed. We’re going through Shinji. I’ll just relax a bit more. Now, we’re just about to reach the end of the line. “Hey its the dormy inn” “Oh and also Izumo station, the terminal” I really enjoyed my single room to the fullest. Thank you for the comfortable time. “That’s good to here” I’ve taken an overnight bus from Tokyo to Izumo before, and honestly, it was brutal. But this time, it was super comfortable, YAY! Thank you. Izumoshi Station is a station where retro and modern mix There are all kinds of gimmicks and pictures are painted all over the place From here, I’m going to a place I’ll arrive at after a 30-minute train ride. “If I were you I would use the rental bikes but its ok you do your thing” It’s a battle of pink and orange “I don’t think I’ve been on the train” From Izumoshi Station, we are going around to this station, Izumo Taisha-mae. Seems like there is a one-day pass, looks pretty good. Maybe next time it’ll use this. We’re about to depart As long as I stay on board, it’ll take me there It’s a cute two-car train What?? It seems like everyone is getting off and changing trains. Oh, I was about to stay on and go somewhere else Thanks for letting me know. I was surprised at how many people were there I’m glad I got on. Oh, there are small children. Are they all going somewhere together? To the kids, it’s recess. To the teacher, it’s cardio. Oh, we are getting close We’ve arrived. It feels like it’s upgraded since the last time we came here. There are a lot of shops on the street in front of the station. And we’ve arrived at Izumo Taisha Shrine. We can’t drink this I wonder if there’s a specific water that’s best here. The god of Izumo Taisha Shrine is Okuninushi no Okami, A god who connects people with people, people with work, and people with destiny, and who connects all kinds of connections. It seems that business will flourish, and your luck at work will improve. I hope that’s the case for me and everyone. Oh.. Um.. Izumo Taisha Shrine is different from other shrines There’s a different way of praying than at normal shrines Usually, you bow twice, clap twice, and bow once But here at Izumo Taisha Shrine, you bow twice, clap four times, and bow once. Thank you. I’m back again. Hmm Apparently, there used to be three large pillars around here. I succeeded in eavesdropping. There are several small shrines here. I’m not sure if this conveys the size of the flag but It is 14m x 9m, and the pole is 47m high. It’s the largest one in Japan. “It is indeed the largest flag in Japan” This large shimenawa rope is also 13.6m long and weighs 5.2 tons. It has a maximum circumference of 8m, making it one of the largest in Japan. It is very majestic and it’s a famous power spot, so many people gather here from all over the country. I’m getting hungry now I came here for this Here’s the tempura bowl and the three-color soba noodles “Oh look it’s my mum, I guess she was on the train as well” Time to mix in the grated yam I ate it in no time. Next is the tempura bowl, which also looks delicious. The shrimp are big and seem filling. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I’m full now, so I’ll look around a little more. There are small shrines close by There’s a cow And a horse There is also a rabbit This rabbit is said to represent the story of Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, the deity enshrined at Izumo Taisha Shrine, It is said to have saved the Inaba no Mototosagi (White Rabbit) and can be seen in various places. Souvenirs are also sold here We were blessed with good weather today and were able to visit the shrine Thank you very much. The mochi looks delicious, The rice crackers also look delicious Let’s take the bus back which also takes about 30 minutes Thank you very much, Shimane Bus driver. Is there something over there? Let’s go to Lamp no Yu. There is a rest area, and the atmosphere is splendid. “The hot spring water is special here, it’s like a brown color, maybe there’s iron idk” The water was a nice brown color. It was comfortable and I was able to relax. Now, let’s go back to Tokyo. The most exciting thing about the Sunrise on the way back is that room. I was wondering if I should buy something, but when I looked closely I saw they were selling this Since I’m here, I’ll buy something. I was able to get The legendary Sunrise Travel Set. Tickets are being issued. I got my ticket. It definitely says Sunrise Twin! YAY! We’ll come back again. It’s just pulled in. Oh, it sounds different than the other Sunrise trains This time, let’s go straight to our room We’ve already been to the hot springs today, so… Idk I will take a shower or not. Open Sesame Seed “Sorry you can’t just use my sesame seeds that easily” The train immediately departed. It’s truly a “moving hotel.” It seems the conductor is here The control panel is no different from the one on the way here. This floor light wasn’t in the Single room. Apparently, the radio really doesn’t work. Air Conditioner There are heaters under the beds same as Single room. The Sunrise Twin also has only one outlet, just like the Single. Having a spare plug is helpful. There are four Sunrise Twin rooms — two smoking and two non-smoking. fire alarm Oh, I’ve discovered something different. There are a trash can and two slippers 2 cups And the storage space is quite spacious The things provided are the same. “You didn’t punch this time either.” “sad but respect to the pillow” “There are… two hangers!” speaker I’m getting sleepy with this rhythm. After about three hours, we’ll soon be at Okayama. We’ll be meeting Sunrise Seto here in Okayama The coupling is done by stopping several times and gradually moving closer. Matchmaking success! ”congratulations” There’s more impact than I expected. Looks like Seto had arrived first, and they’ve been coupled together. Now we’re leaving for Tokyo! Scheduled to arrive at Tokyo Station at 07:08 The sunrise set we purchased at the Seven-Eleven in Izumo Station Let’s use this to take a shower Copying the son’s usual PIN. Let’s go to the washroom and toilet first There are curtains, so privacy is maintained. By the way, there is a vending machine on the train. Trash bins are also available. “for some reason my dad is into trash cans” hey’re still selling shower cards for the train to Tokyo. Here’s the lounge, it’s good for eating and drinking. Now, I’ll take a shower. It’s best for each person to leave within 10 minutes Time for the next person Let’s go back to our room now This is the A-class single DX sleeper So, this is the main car We enter the same number as before and open sesame. “He locked himself out.” Don’t forget the codes. Now, it’s time to sleep. Good night. I closed my eyes, and it’s already morning I love mornings before dawn Such a beautiful morning Looks like we’re almost at Tokyo Station We’ve arrived We are back! It was quite difficult to make a reservation, but it’s great for two people. As my son said, this really was a “hotel on wheels.” Such an amazing and memorable experience. Warning: Side effects of this trip may include uncontrollable smiling and feeling five years younger. Thank you for watching this long video How was the solo solo dad’s trip vlog? There were probably some messy bits, I’ll try to make it smoother next time! Hope you’ll be rooting for me! Have a great day~ Thank you for a very comfortable trip ”Great trip”

Great job Solo Dad!!
Maybe your dad thinks that Yokohama is #1 in Japan by some other metric than size or population!
This train saved my ass when I needed a last minute way to get to Tokyo from Kobe. Was a great experience, and I would take it again. I had dinner at an Izakaya under the tracks, and boarded tge train. I could not sleep because I liked to stare at the scenery of empty stations and lit up cities. The arrival to Tokyo in the morning was amazing. It was like that scene in Evangelion Rebuild 2 where the city wakes up. I saw the monorail, shinkansens, and hordes of commuters waiting for their trains. All while I was still in my PJs. It was awaome
Great job Dad!! Now I see where Solo Solo gets it from! 😊
I took this train in the other direction last month as a last minute sort of thing. It was great, and I slept like a baby(Of course, I spent a long time looking at the night time scenery). I really enjoyed the arrival to Tokyo in the morning. It was like that scene in Shin Evangelion 2, where the city wakes up. I saw shinkansens, commuter trains, limited expresses, and even the monorail on the way in. It was odd seeing hordes of commuters outside waiting while I was in the train in my PJs eating a cheese snack.
Woo! Great job filming, Dad! Solo, you should send him on a ferry trip to film his experience! In a nice room, mind. Royal Suite!
More of your Dad Vlogging please.
He made sure to get everything within frame.
Meticulously showing us important Things.
Do all passengers have to exit the train when it is being decoupled?
I'm going to need more Papa Solo Solo. Your job is in trouble my man😅
