This time, I came to Teradomari in Niigata Prefecture with a companion. For lunch, I wanted to eat seafood. “Kaninoyado Kinpachi” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. This inn, run by a crab wholesaler, is open for lunch from 11:00 to 14:00. It has a wide selection of items. Lunch menu: This is the main menu. Crab, fried shrimp, tempura, all of which look delicious… Drink menu. The restaurant has table seats as well as raised seats. From the lunch menu, I ordered the horse mackerel fry set meal. Waited about 10 minutes. “Really delicious horse mackerel fry set meal” 1,100 yen. It also comes with crab soup, which many people recommended in reviews I looked up in advance. The horse mackerel is big and thick, and looks satisfying. The meat is so tender that it falls apart when you pick it up with chopsticks. With tartar sauce… the batter is crispy and the meat is tender. As for the crab soup… the crab broth comes out well . Next time I’ll try Worcestershire sauce, which is also delicious! “10 kinds of seafood bowl” 1,100 yen If you come to Teradomari, you can’t miss this. Also comes with crab soup. Flounder fin, tuna, squid, flounder, sea bream, salmon roe, crab, horse mackerel and then … what is it? Anyway, it’s a luxurious set of ingredients. Start with the white fish, it’s delicious . The sweet pickled ginger is also good. The small bowl of Nanbanzuke pickles is also carefully made. The flounder fin is rich and delicious . The horse mackerel is delicious both fried and raw. The salmon roe, tuna , sea bream – everything is fresh and delicious. Thank you for the meal. After this, we head to “Teradomari Fish Market Street”. There are more than 10 stores, including fresh fish stores and souvenir shops, lined up along National Route 402. It is also known as “Ameyoko of Fish”. You can also enjoy eating your way around here. Let’s go to this store. “Kadogami Gyoryu Teradomari Main Store” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. The “grilled squid” looks delicious too, but… “Butter-fried oysters” – this is it! The smell of butter and soy sauce was amazing. The plump oysters were richly seasoned and delicious. The restaurant was crowded with many people. Let’s go to another place. “Ichiba-dori Kinpachi” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. This is a sister restaurant of Kinpachi where we had lunch . You can enjoy various kinds of seafood grilled at “Akanishi-gai” for 500 yen. “Ame-yoko Fish” has a pleasant crunchy texture , and it was a lively and fun place. We head to Niigata city where our accommodation is located. “Times NEXT21” in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. Normally it costs 800 yen for 24 hours after parking. We go through “Furumachi Mall” which is affiliated with today’s accommodation and can be parked for 500 yen. “Hotel Crown Hills Niigata Furumachi-dori” in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. We pick up our amenities and head to our room. The room is on the 7th floor. The type where you put the key to turn on the light. Non-smoking. Semi-double room. The toilet is small . There is a large public bath, so we did not use the unit bath. The hotel’s original mattress. There are light switches and outlets at the pillow. The desk is a little small. The view is like this . Since we came all the way to Niigata, I want to try their specialty. I had been curious about “Sasa Dango no Yamaji” in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture ever since I saw on TV that “freshly made ones are completely different.” Photography is not permitted inside the store . I bought some long-awaited freshly made “Sasa Dango” and took it back to the hotel immediately.
210 yen Yamaji is a popular local sasa dango shop that has been in business for over 30 years. I had it with cold barley tea. Compared to the sasa dango I have had in the past, it was much larger . Delicious! The aroma of mugwort and the sweetness of the bean paste stand out. The freshly made sasa dango I tried for the first time was so delicious that it overturned my previous image of it. The large bathtub is deep and you can relax in it. There is also a sauna. In the evening, I started to get hungry. For dinner, I walked a little further to a restaurant serving local cuisine. “Wappameshi Inakaya” in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. This is known as the birthplace of Niigata’s specialty “wappameshi”. The interior has a nostalgic atmosphere and the chairs are also unique. From the signature dish of wappameshi to local cuisine , there is a wide range of snacks to go with sake . It could also be used as an izakaya . “Seasonal Wappameshi Conger Eel” 1,800 yen. Conger eel available only from June to September. “Echigo Luxury Wappa Set” that looks plump. 3500 yen Luxury Wappa rice with Noppei and Asahi pork stew. Limited to 10 meals per day. Looks really delicious. Plenty of salmon roe on top of plumply cooked Wappa rice. First, miso soup . Gentle taste with clam stock. This is the first time I’ve tried local dish Noppei. The shiitake mushroom stock and scallop flavor are also delicious . Asahi pork stew. Asahi pork is a brand of pork from Niigata. Soft, with sweet fat and delicious aroma . As expected from Niigata, the rice is delicious. Salmon and salmon roe are a surefire combination! The chicken is also plump. I wonder if the blackthroat seaperch is seared on the surface before cooking. The fat is delicious and the skin is fragrant. It even has crab in it! Founded in 1931, they have 10 directly managed stores in Niigata City. The scent of the bamboo leaves is amazing! It ‘s a little smaller than the Yamaji store from yesterday.
