After almost a decade of running Japanese restaurants in Singapore, Osaka-born chef Haruyama Yuki struck out on his own last year with a humble food court stall in Bras Basah Complex. It’s called Haru-Haru (the chef’s nickname).
The 37-year-old moved to Singapore in 2016 when he was offered a role as general manager and head chef at Sabar, a mackerel-focused Japanese restaurant chain with outlets in Osaka and Singapore. Its local branch was originally located at Wisma Atria’s Japan Food Town, which shuttered in 2020 – the restaurant has since relocated to 100AM mall.
