TRIP REPORT | Philippine Airlines A321NEO Fukuoka to Manila

Overall Review:
The Fukuoka to Manila service of Philippine Airlines is worth your money, whether a direct or connecting flight through Manila.
Check-in Process:
Online check-in is available up to 24 hours before the flight, arrive 1.5 hours before departure, and after battling immigration for 15-20 minutes, you’re already at your gate.
At the Gate:
You’re greeted with a panoramic view of the runways of Fukuoka International Airport at your boarding gate. Boarding the plane was very quick, and done in an orderly manner. (From the back side going to the front)
Settling at the seat:
Upon settling in my seat, there were crew members already checking if the seatbelts were fastened and if all luggage were stowed correctly, smoothly transitioned to the safety demo, and before you know it, you’re already at the edge of the runway, awaiting clearance for takeoff.
In-flight Meal:
Food onboard was delicious. So much better versus previous experiences with Philippine Airlines. The serving size is still the same, but of course, compared to other airlines I’ve flown with in the past, there is so much more drinks available on demand. It’s a taste of business class in economy, with wine, beers, juices, and sodas all available to request from the flight attendants.
Aircraft Experience:
The A321neo of Philippine Airlines is a great aircraft. It does have a little aging seen already in the interior of the aircraft, versus my first experience with the new fleet back in 2019. However, it clearly is well kept, and the cabin and lavatory is very clean.
The In-flight Entertainment was also great, having movies and tv shows combined have a duration longer than the aircraft’s actual ability to fly. It’s diverse having shows and movies that cater kids, teens, adults, and seniors. The system is very responsive, but the map is not interactive, so Avgeeks have to be patient with the flight information.
Landing in Manila:
Crosswind landing, hence the horrible footage. Was surprised that we were positioned in a remote stand, versus the usual jetbridge directly at the terminal. It isn’t the airline’s fault, but I would like to specially mention the driver of the bus bringing us back to the terminal for doing a horrendous job in driving. Almost fell to my side thrice, considering it’s less than 500 meters distance of a journey.
