On June 13, commencing around 10:00 a.m. for approximately 35 minutes, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Vjosa OSMANI-SADRIU, President of the Republic of Kosovo, who is visiting Japan to participate in the National Day Event of EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, Japan. An overview of the meeting is as follows.


At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba welcomed President Osmani’s visit to Japan. He stated that maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law is crucial in the increasingly severe international situation, and expressed his intention to cooperate with Kosovo, with which it has had a good bilateral relationship.



Prime Minister Ishiba stated that Japan would continue to support Kosovo’s efforts toward the development and integration with Europe through the “Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative.”



President Osmani expressed her gratitude for Japan’s longstanding support for Kosovo and her expectations for further cooperation including the economic field between the two countries. The two leaders agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations, taking the Expo as a good opportunity.



The two leaders exchanged views on regional issues about the situation in the Indo-Pacific and Ukraine etc. and agreed to cooperate with each other.
