Ride the Panda Train! Meet Japan’s Most Adorable Panda Family🐼

Time to meet a wonderful panda family! Get ready to be healed by lots of adorable pandas🐼 Hope you enjoy this trip! Good morning! I’m at Shin-Osaka Station. Today, I’m riding the Panda Train to see real pandas for myself🐼 The train is called the Kuroshio Limited Express.
It connects Kyoto, Osaka, and Wakayama. Cute! First, I’ll leave Shin-Osaka and head toward Shirahama in Wakayama Prefecture. Today’s final destination is a zoo called Adventure World! Once I leave the city, beautiful scenery starts to appear. The Kuroshio is a rare train that runs along the coast. So beautiful. After about 2.5 hours on the train, I’ve arrived at Shirahama Station. From here, I’ll take a bus to Adventure World. Almost there! Wow! So many cars! Thanks to the pandas, this zoo is incredibly popular. I’ve arrived! Buy tickets online or at the gate.
The price was 5,300 yen! ($36.85) Let’s head straight to the panda area! Found one! She’s eating bamboo! So cute. Her name is Yuihin. Born in 2016, she’s 8 years old and the eldest of three sisters! Adventure World is home to a panda family of four: a mother and her three daughters. This is the second sister, Saihin. (6 years old) And here’s the youngest, Fuhin. (4 years old) And this is their mother, Rauhin. (24 years old) Their father returned to China and later passed away at the age of 31. Here’s the family tree. Their father, Eimei, and mother, Rauhin, had 10 children together. Now only these three sisters remain here.
The others have returned to China. All pandas in Japan are on loan from China for a limited time. That’s why the time comes when they must return to China.
(Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding) These four pandas are scheduled to return to China at the end of June 2025. Since this video is being uploaded in June, there’s less than a month left. As a Japanese citizen, it’s truly heartbreaking… But they’re going back to find partners and start new families. It’s sad, but we’ll send them off with love and support. Pandas look so cute up close. She’s eating hard bamboo like it’s nothing. She’s adorable, but those teeth are definitely built for predators😂 They have a fascinating biology. Pandas are technically carnivores and part of the bear family🐻🐼 Yet their main diet is made up of bamboo and other plants. They’re carnivores, but strangely live on a herbivorous diet🐼 In the wild, though, they do sometimes eat insects or small animals. But that only makes up about 10%—bamboo remains their primary food. Most pandas, even in the wild, eat almost nothing but bamboo and bamboo grass. They eat bamboo because it grows year-round and doesn’t wither in winter. To avoid predators, they chose to live in China’s mountainous regions, and in exchange for safety, they began eating bamboo to survive. It’s amazing how pandas adapted this lifestyle to survive. After finishing her meal, she started moving around! Pandas spend most of their day eating and sleeping. (Lucky them) So it’s actually rare to see them moving like this. Her fluffy back is so cute. I really want to hug her. Wait, she’s eating again!? I couldn’t help but say something😂 Something about the way pandas move reminds me of old men. She looks just like a person relaxing in a living room. And with the A/C on, she’s completely forgotten the wild. At least she looks happy. She’s gone back into eating mode again. Which means she won’t be moving for a while now. Pandas really are therapeutic to watch. With the music playing too, it really feels like healing time. So adorable… Attention ASMR lovers, this one’s for you. I could seriously listen to this sound all day. My ears are loving it. She’s trimming the bamboo to the perfect size before eating it. It’s like a firmer version of string cheese🧀 After finishing her bamboo, she started searching for something. Turns out, it was a giant bamboo shoot!🎋 She had been saving a secret treat for last😂 Looks delicious! It looks much softer than the earlier bamboo. The way she holds it with both paws is so cute. She totally looks like someone in a panda costume🐼 Maybe there’s actually a person inside🤭 By the way, bamboo shoots are commonly sold in supermarkets in Japan. They’re a familiar ingredient for Japanese people. Do people in your country eat bamboo shoots too? Let me know in the comments along with your thoughts on the pandas!🐼🎋 (Yummy) She looks like she’s enjoying her food, but pandas digest only about 20% of what they eat. The remaining 80% comes out as poop. So pandas have to eat huge amounts of bamboo just to get enough energy. That’s why they seem to love bamboo so much. Pandas, often seen as rare animals, were once classified as endangered. But in September 2016, their status was lowered to “vulnerable.” According to China, the panda population has increased by about 16%. There are now around 1,860 in the wild and 757 in captivity. This increase is thanks to a sharp drop in poaching and the expansion of panda reserves. Let’s hope their numbers continue to grow. All four pandas currently here were born at Adventure World. Yuihin was the biggest baby of them all, born at 197 grams. Human babies usually weigh around 2,000 grams, so panda babies are really tiny. She has a curious personality and has grown up healthy for 8 years. Once they return to China, Ueno Zoo in Tokyo will be the only place to see pandas in Japan. That’s why so many people are visiting Adventure World for a last glimpse of them. They will be returning to Chengdu, China, on June 28, 2025. Until then, you can still see them—but they’re now in quarantine before the trip. Because of that, they’re only on display behind glass and not outdoors. It’s a shame we can’t see them outside, but I hope you get to visit before they leave. Super cute!! She showed us her adorable sleeping pose! I’m worried she might fall😂 Maybe she’s itchy. Even her butt is so cute. No wonder pandas are loved all over the world🐼 And then she fell asleep just like that. Lots of people have gathered today to see the pandas. Next to that was an indoor exhibit! This is where the youngest, Fuhin, lives! She was in the middle of eating. She looks just like Yuihin—I can’t tell them apart😂 Even the way she eats is exactly the same. She’s like a flute player🪈 But she’s devouring her precious flute. How did such an adorable creature come to exist? Watching them makes me feel the mystery of life🌏 You’re seriously eating way too much😂 She’s hogging the whole buffet. Yuihin, who was outside earlier, had moved indoors too. Fast asleep. Well, it’s hot outside. Even her wrinkles are cute. Viewing time inside was limited to 3 minutes! Because of the crowd, everyone views them in turns. I also waited 30 minutes outside just for those 3 minutes😹 But seeing them made it all worth it. Their charming behavior truly captures our hearts. Stay healthy even after you return to China. Hope you find a great partner. Female pandas can start having babies around age 4 to 6. Fuhin is now 4 years old, so she might have a baby of her own someday. Adventure World isn’t just about pandas—the entire park is amazing. It’s beautifully designed and fun for both kids and adults. What surprised me the most was the roller coaster running even indoors🎢 It zooms right past our heads. Adventure World is a combination of a zoo and an amusement park! What a luxury to enjoy both in one place! Next, I visited the Breeding Center! This breeding center focuses on panda research and is home to Rauhin and her second daughter Saihin. You can watch their parenting through the glass in the indoor room. The walls are lined with panda history. Japan and China have worked together to share the charm of pandas since 1998. A total of 17 pandas have been born at Adventure World so far. Pandas living around the world. Is your country among them? I’d love to meet pandas outside Japan too someday. It looks like Saihin and Rauhin are outside now. There they are! That one is Saihin. She shows us so many adorable sleeping faces. Cute. I came back to check on her several times, and she was always in the same spot🤣 Thank you🐼 The nameplate was actually on the other side. I’ve become a huge fan of panda wrinkles. Their back view is also highly recommended. They have bear-like paws. Next to Saihin was her mother Rauhin. She was napping in the best spot. (So cool❄️) A heart-shaped nose🖤 It’s hard to tell, but I think she’s actually awake! Compared to her daughters, the mother has a browner face. Do pandas turn brown as they age? It must be a mark of a long life. 👦: Panda, bye-bye! So cute!🤣 Kids must get so excited when they see pandas for the first time. I remember getting super excited the first time I saw one too. I was amazed by their beautiful black and white pattern. Just when I thought she was about to move, she went right back to sleep. Is that a Christmas stocking?🎄😂 Rauhin is now 25 years old, and she was actually born here. She was born in 2000, the first panda cub born in Japan in 12 years. In 2008, she gave birth to twin cubs, Meihin and Eihin. It was the very first panda birth in Japan by a Japanese-born panda. Since then, she’s had 10 cubs over 7 births—a super mom! Her partner’s name was Eimei. He was born in 1992 at the Beijing Zoo and came to Japan in 1994. Here, he met two females, Meimei and Rauhin, and fathered a total of 16 cubs. Apparently, pandas are polygamous! He was known as the oldest panda in the world to successfully breed in captivity—a true “super dad.” In 2023, he returned to China with his daughters Ouhin and Touhin. Then, in January 2025, he quietly passed away at the age of 32 due to multiple organ failure. The average lifespan of a giant panda is around 20 years in the wild and 30 in captivity. Thirty in panda years is over 90 in human years—he lived a very long life. He’s surely still watching over his wife and daughters from somewhere. The reason she’s returning to China is because she’s now entering her senior years at 24. In China, there are excellent facilities and medical care for elderly pandas. I hope she can enjoy a peaceful retirement in such a wonderful environment. The oldest recorded panda lived to 38.
Maybe she’ll surpass that. Adventure World has worked with China for over 30 years. They’ve conducted various research and initiatives to help stop the decline of pandas. These include health management like diet, and breeding studies. They’ve also gained techniques and knowledge through cooperation with Chinese staff. Thanks to that, they’ve created a better environment for pandas here in Japan. For more details, check out the website in the description! There are currently no plans for pandas to come to Japan again. I truly hope we’ll see pandas in Japan again someday. Time for lunch! The restaurant has a special panda-themed menu🐼 I ordered the panda curry! Cute! Even the drink is panda-themed!😳 Sorry, little panda… But as always, I won’t hold back😏 So tasty! It’s mildly spicy—just the way I like it. On a hot day, nothing beats a cold Coke! What is this heart-shaped fried thing? It was sweet potato!🍠 It’s rare to find sweet potato in curry! But its sweetness actually goes surprisingly well. That was delicious! Thank you for the meal. The other menu items were really unique too! This one looks kind of crazy, doesn’t it?😂 Each restaurant had its own panda-themed menu. The panda steamed buns and ice cream looked great too. Next, I’m taking this Safari Train! (Free) Let’s head to the Safari Park! You can see animals living in a natural-like environment. You can also enter the Safari Park on foot or with your own car. The Malayan tapir is cute! Now we’re entering the carnivore zone! This bear was getting treats from a keeper🐻 Look how it’s sitting—so cute😂 It’s incredibly friendly😨✨ Bye-bye, adorable bear. Next up, tigers! So cool! It felt like I was walking alongside the tiger. There was a white tiger too! That was so much fun—what a great experience. It was also fun that it was a train, not a bus! I also rode the Ferris wheel. (700 yen / $4.85) It’s pretty high up! The view is amazing! But it’s kind of scary too. You can see the whole Adventure World from here. I also met many more animals throughout the park. Cute! Now I want to visit an otter café again. It’s dinner time for everyone now. You can see flamingos up close like this! It reminds me of Nagasaki Bio Park. These are toucans, the national bird of Brazil. They might be my favorite birds of all. I found some chimpanzees looking like royalty. Your Majesty! A sloth being properly lazy. And there were red pandas here too! They’re just as cute as giant pandas. The enclosure is spacious and close to their natural environment—love that. Wait, is this a jungle?🌳😂 There were also some unusually colored horses! Watching them interact was really interesting. You can also ride a horse-drawn carriage with a reservation! (800 yen / $5.54) This horse is huge! There were maras at the petting area! You’re so cute. You can also interact with rabbits and guinea pigs here—with a reservation. (Free) The elephants were sticking their trunks into holes… What’s on the other side? Turns out there was a keeper holding fruit! You can experience it too—only 50 trays per day. (500 yen / $3.46) I was too focused on the pandas and missed the reservation😅 It’s only available once per day at 12 PM, so don’t miss it! There was also a hippo that looked like a giant slug🦛 A cute hippo video is coming soon—stay tuned! Adventure World also has animals living in an aquarium. Let’s head to the Sea Animal Museum! So many penguins! Too cute! (Huh? Are you talking about me?) Yes, you are😍😂 Actually, penguins are really popular here at Adventure World too. (Let’s dance♩) There are about 450 penguins here, from 8 different species! They may be slow on land… But in water, they swim at speeds up to 10 km/h! Too fast to follow with your eyes! It’s feeding time. The emperor penguins—the largest in the world—follow the keeper around. They’re like babies. So adorable👶 They take turns getting fish from the keeper. A tiny one joined in too😂 It’s amazing how they wait their turn without fighting. Their food is fish. They swallow them whole—no chewing! The smaller penguins get their food too. There are two types of penguins here. The ones with black faces are Adelie penguins, and the white-faced ones are chinstrap penguins. They’re all so cute! But the smaller ones seem a little feistier😂 It feels like the Arctic in here! I saw penguins leaping one after another🐧 Now I’m at the dolphin show! Look at this amazing venue! And it begins! Wow! Amazing!👏 It’s absolutely beautiful. Finale time! That was incredible!! I had no idea there would be so many dolphins! So moving. The souvenir shop was overflowing with pandas. There was even a turtle living inside the shop. This tumbler is really nice. This ramen bowl is great too! I had such a great time! If I go back to Tokyo now, I’ll arrive late, so I’m staying at a hotel tonight. The hotel is lovely too—so stick around till the end!🏨 It takes about 10 minutes by bus to get to the hotel. Super close! Tonight, I’m staying at this dome-shaped hotel. Each room has its own unique design concept. My room is in this section! Room 262! I’m excited to see what it’s like! Wow, it’s so stylish! The room cost 25,000 yen. It’s a beautiful room with a green color theme. There’s a chair shaped like a panda’s butt🐼 (But pandas’ butts are actually white…🤫) The bathroom is super clean too! And I’m happy the toilet and bath are in separate rooms. And this shower? It’s amazing! You can twist the head to adjust the water pressure. This mist setting is the best! From the window, there’s a dreamy fairytale-like view. Nearby, I also found a panda-themed dome hotel! It’s so cute! But the price is almost double… not so cute😂 And since the inside isn’t much different from a regular room, I decided not to stay there this time. But it might be great if you’re staying as a group of 2 to 4 people🐼 Time to head out for dinner! It was already getting dark outside. The nighttime atmosphere is really nice too. That’s the restaurant for tonight. Dinner is buffet-style! There’s a wide selection of fresh seafood. Here are some shellfish. And I think that’s sea bream. There was sushi too! That salmon looks amazing! There’s also fried shrimp, meatballs, and more. And even freshly grilled steak by the chef! Of course, there’s salad— and miso soup too. You can even make your own ramen. I got to be a tonkotsu ramen chef! Here’s my dinner tonight! So luxurious! Starting with sushi🍣 Delicious! Next up, the steak… Incredible! I’m in heaven. Let’s see how the ramen I made tastes. Maybe I should open my own ramen shop. Thick tonkotsu broth and chewy noodles—so addicting! Earlier, I asked if you’d like to see hotel and food scenes too, and I got lots of replies. Many of you said yes—and that made me really happy. Thank you! So from now on, I’ll keep sharing great hotels along with the animals! If there’s any animal you want to see, let me know! Besides cats and rabbits, there are so many places in Japan where you can meet all kinds of animals. Like hedgehogs, mini pigs, otters, chinchillas, alpacas…and more! There are lots of unique animal cafés, so I’d love to hear your requests! Time for dessert! Looks so good! Starting with warabi mochi. Delicious. Three-berry roll cake. Apple caramel cake. Waffles and cookies & cream ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious! Thanks for the meal! After dinner, it’s time for a hot spring bath. A mystical open-air bath. What a peaceful night. The night breeze feels so nice. And the night view was incredible! Good night. Good morning! Starting the day with another hot spring. This is actually a different onsen from yesterday.
There was another one just near the hotel. It was about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Time for breakfast. At the same restaurant as yesterday. They had both Japanese and Western-style dishes. I felt like having more Western food today. Thank you, Room 262. It was a lovely stay! Right near the hotel, there was a market and food court! Even if you have extra time before your train, you can relax here. There aren’t many shops near Shirahama Station. So I recommend hanging out here instead. There was also a restaurant serving fresh seafood! And a stylish modern café too! I had a soda float topped with a cherry. There was also a souvenir shop here. These dishes are cute. I’ve been looking at wooden dishes since yesterday😂 In the end, I bought this one. I also stopped by Adventure World one more time that day. She’s eating in the exact same spot as yesterday😂 Still just as adorable. I came to say a final goodbye to the pandas. Take care, everyone. At 3:26 PM, it was time to catch my train. Heading back on the Panda Train. Another wonderful trip comes to an end. Goodbye, Adventure World! Thank you for watching till the end! See you again on my next trip!

  5. Hello,

Thanks so much for this wonderful animals' channel❤🎉

    Greetings from France🎉🎉

  6. I learned on a movie I saw that in a chinese myth, the panda used to be all white then a panda cub was about to be attacked by a snow leopard but a brave shepherdess saved it and was killed in the process. The pandas mourned her death. They covered their arms in ashes as was tradition at the time. While mounring they rubbed their eyes with their blackened paws, leaving black marks around their eyes and they rubbed their noses and covered their ears to block out the crying. So wherever the ash touched their white fur, it blackened it and the panda became what we know today.

  7. 動物施設あるある ですが、日本みたいな小さな狭い国での 希少動物の国内繁殖は、どうしても血が濃くなってしまうから、海外から血縁の無い個体を迎えるか その種の故郷にお帰り願うか になってしまいますよね。

  8. Another wonderful video! The pandas are so adorable, you got some really great shots of them! I love seeing the hotel and meals too, it is fun and interesting. Also I would love if you did an alpaca video!

  9. Great video! Pandas are always cute to see acting! Hopefully the panda diplomacy will continue in favour for Japan, I read that the two Ueno pandas will go back to China in February 2026 😿Here in Canada, we had pandas in Toronto and Calgary but they left respectively in 2018 and 2020. Hope that some of our zoos will be able to host them soon.

A trip to Chengdu is must for any panda lover!!

  10. Thank you for the video!
It's great you could see the pandas before their departure. They're so cute! Everything in thin video was cute, actually ☺
Panda-shaped huts, panda-themed meal sets, dishes and so on.
Love the wooden bowl you bought in the end! Now I want one, too 😅
