If you’re headed to Fukuoka, take a quick 30min train ride to Dazaifu to explore incredible Japanese street food and visit a beautiful 1100 year old shrine dedicated to the deity of learning. Here’s all the food we ate while visiting! We wanted a pick me up so we stopped by Dazaifu Matcha Sweets for an iced matcha. I love how they have slightly sweet iced matcha without milk, just the way we like it. We also wanted to try their matcha dorayaki & bought a can of matcha to take home with us. The matcha was really strong & the dorayaki paired perfectly with it. I’m excited to make this matcha at home! We saw people walking around with fried chicken on a stick and realized it was from sofuto across the street. They are a soft-serve ice cream shop that also serves really good fried chicken? Interesting combo but honestly it works really well. We each got one for ¥500, and I’m so glad we did, cause these hit the spot. Dazaifu is a beautiful city, home to the 1100 year old Tenmangu Shrine dedicated to the deity of learning. Take a quick 30 min train from Fukuoka (we stayed in Tenjin) to drink some really good matcha, eat some incredible Japanese street food & see the beautiful landscaped gardens! one of our favorite stops during our Japan trip

Yasutake 🍡 – umegaemochi, grilled mochi with adzuki beans
Dazaifu Matcha Sweets 🍵 – iced matcha, matcha dorayaki & got a can of matcha to bring home
Kinshou Korokke – croquette shop, we split a curry croquette, it was so good
so fu to 🍦🍗- fried chicken AND ice cream spot?! (get their fried chicken skewers!) the chicken was seasoned perfectly, massive portions. You could split one but we each got our own lol
