I Bought a New House in Osaka Japan Without Seeing It.

welcome to the channel we are a Canadian family
who bought a brand new and completely empty home in Osaka this is our journey as we work to
furnish the home from scratch and eventually settle in Japan from getting the keys to
moving in and everything in between let’s go where are we going we are going to Osaka
we’re going to buy a house she bought a house already what so we are going to go see it for
the first time yes you heard that correctly we bought a house in Osaka and we haven’t
even seen it yet sounds a bit crazy doesn’t it but it’s not like we just picked a random
house though this whole process has been more than 6 months of research and planning which
included a trip to Japan just to get a sense of the market ourselves this story is the
final leg of our journey as we get the keys and finally see our new home for the first
time let’s catch a plane and head to Japan we just got through customs at Osaka airport
and we had a 16-hour journey from Mai the layover in Hong Kong and here we are so why are
we here we are here for an exciting event a life milestone where we are going to be picking up
the keys to our new house this has been many months of planning and research and here
we are if you are interested in following us along we will be spending the next few weeks
furnishing the house because it’s empty right now we’ll be buying air conditioners
beds toilet paper everything all of the above so next stop is the seller’s
office to pick up the keys so see you later but first we needed an extra set of hands
here comes grandma all the way from Toronto good morning we are We are getting the keys we
are getting the keys yes we are almost there such a long walk okay Cassian needed a little
bit of help so I’m carrying him that’s okay we are almost at the seller’s office trying
to find it i think it’s just up here and we will be meeting our agent we will be meeting the
sellers agent and getting the keys keys to our new house new house yay okay let’s not get hit
by any cars here all right we’ll keep you posted this meeting was actually very efficient
as most of the paperwork was able to be completed electronically and as required in
Japanese real estate transactions the money had to be transferred over a few days before
this meeting so that means we bought a house we’ve never seen before sent all the money to
a foreign country all before we even got the keys i guess we are a bit crazy after all oh and
by the way if you have any questions about the process of buying a home in Japan let me know in
the comment section and I’d be happy to respond now it’s finally time to see our house for the
first time oh yeah thank you okay wow thank you thank you where’s your shoes where’s the shoes
she can walk shoes okay bye-bye bye-bye thank you it’s real it’s real she’s
looking at you here we go maybe we need a flashlight on the
phones on the phone on the phone wow this is a nice bedroom or like washroom okay wow little dark in there
here can you pull this no but no yahoo think that you have to make a contract anyway no you keep
using it they’re going to stop okay we’ll have to do that ASAP should it be pretty quick to do oh
yeah all night okay all right we’ll have to figure that out maybe tomorrow okay what a beautiful
house Brandon congratulations congratulations there’s the b look high in the balcony that is we can ask her what is this what is this
that I’m not sure i’m not sure maybe maybe this is the playroom this will be playroom i think
so is it videotaping yeah oh nice view of the other house the house was beautiful and we were
impressed by the quality of the worksmanship check out my other video for a full walkthrough of the
entire house and before we could move in we had to set up the water gas and electric utilities
thankfully our agent was able to call ahead on our behalf and get that process started for the
gas specifically an appointment needs to be made for them to physically come and turn it on and for
all of them we were able to set up online accounts and pay via credit card hello we are checking out
the park that’s Hi hi we’re checking out the park that’s 5 minutes from our house it’s pretty pretty
nice actually i’ll take you take you around here so there’s swings there’s slide here and more
playground over there toilets and field so first impressions of the area well we’ve seen it on
Google Street View but we never saw it in person so first impressions in person is that it’s quite
nice there’s the the roads are wider here uh and there’s sidewalks compared to other areas of Osaka
where we’ve stayed closer to the city so that’s awesome it looks like there’s a few markets and
shops really close by as well which we knew was true because of Google Maps but to see it in
person it’s a little bit uh comforting now so we’re going to be working to set up the house
get familiar with the area and just enjoy the journey okay bye-bye who are you talking to who
am I talking to i’m talking to you over the next few weeks and months and years I guess we will
be working to furnish this house from scratch if you are interested in seeing how we managed to
do this without speaking any Japanese or having any experience in this country subscribe and
follow us along on our journey see you later
