Japan Travel| Quiet place to enjoy hydrangea in Tokyo| Summer in Japan
It’s a day in June in Tokyo The rainy season is in full swing, with sudden downpours that seem to go on forever. Some days, it’s hard not to feel a little low But then you see the hydrangeas in full bloom—so vibrant and beautiful, like a little lift for the soul We’re visiting Kyodo no Mori Fuchu City Museum today And the hydrangeas are blooming so beautifully right now We started our visit at this spot with the white hydrangeas I was really surprised at how quiet it is here, with only a few people around Did you know hydrangeas have different meanings depending on their color? The white ones are said to represent a forgiving heart That’s why you’ll often see them at weddings as a gentle reminder of how important empathy and understanding are in a relationship Hydrangeas usually don’t have a scent, but I still can’t help sniffing them out of habit It’s so beautiful here, surrounded by these white hydrangeas Recently, I read a beautiful book called Tree by Aya Koda (幸田文) It’s a wonderful piece all about trees, and honestly, so many parts really spoke to me, especially since I’m such a nature lover There’s one part I really related to: …”I was fortunate to experience the profound and authentic emotions awakened by the presence of trees. It felt as though the shadows clouding my heart were gently lifted, From that moment on, I came to see trees and forests as a kind of healing elixir— nurturing, restorative, and even wonderfully sweet” If you’ve ever had the chance to just sit quietly under a tree and feel a simple, peaceful kind of happiness like you’ve had everything that you need and the world outside doesn’t really matter then I think you might understand why Aya Koda’s words related so much to me These hydrangeas are pink, with a little shade of purple too Sunlight gently touches the steps, the fresh leaves, and the hydrangeas The light is just perfect, I wish I could paint, so I could turn this moment into a beautiful painting The Fuchu-shi Kyodo no Mori Museum covers about 14 hectares—that’s roughly three times the size of Tokyo Dome We’ve just arrived at a lovely spot shaded by trees. There’s also a little stream flowing softly and the cheerful sound of birds singing all around It rained heavily last night, and you can still see raindrops clinging to the leaves and the hydrangea blossoms We came across some blue hydrangeas Their blooms are a bit smaller than the white ones we saw earlier Because of Japan’s volcanoes and acidic soil, blue hydrangeas are more common here than other colors. A beautiful water mill Inside this museum, you’ll get to see many old buildings that are closely tied to the history and growth of Fuchu City Since today we’re here mainly to enjoy the hydrangeas, we didn’t get to explore many of the old buildings We’ll save that for the next visit The road with hydrangeas and trees on either side is really pretty These hydrangea blooms hang low, their weight pulling the slender stems toward the ground drawing the eyes of anyone walking past From this angle, it feels like I’m leaning against a wall of hydrangeas ^^ Is there anyone here who loves Anne Shirley? The museum’s park is huge, and everyone seems to enjoy it in their own way “These crows are seriously huge!” We happened to pass by an old house in the museum, so we decided to stop in and take a look This is the Kouichi Home, a traditional thatched-roof farmhouse from the past. This is the kamado, the old-style kitchen where the family used to cook their meals. The kind staff here invited me to add firewood to the kamado It rains a lot this season, and that makes it easier for termites to appear That’s why they keep the fire burning—the smoke helps protect the building This is the irori, a traditional hearth where family would gather and share time together The kettle hook is shaped like a fish caught on a line—so cute This is called Ebira—special trays used for silkworm farming I picked up a few fallen hydrangea blooms along the way ”Is it hurt? Hang in there a bit longer 😂” “This is too much for me 😂” There’s a big open space in the museum park where people bring mats to chill, We bought some shaved ice because it’s pretty hot today Finding a place to chill and enjoy our shaved ice Shaved ice is just perfect on a hot summer day like this—so refreshing and delicious!🥰 Thanks so much for watching! It’s already the beginning of June, and here in Tokyo, the rainy season seems to have quietly arrived—with more and more gentle showers lately. But with the rain comes one of my favorite things: hydrangea season 🥰🌿
In this vlog, I’d love to take you along with me to Kyodo no Mori Fuchu City Museum, a peaceful lovely spot in Tokyo. Around this time of year, the hydrangea gardens there burst into bloom with every shade you can imagine—white, pink, blue, and purple.
We wandered through the colorful blossoms, listened to the birdsong, and enjoyed a slow, peaceful stroll under the soft early June sunlight. To top it off, we treated ourselves to some refreshing shaved ice—it truly felt like the perfect start to summer ☀️🍧
