48 Hours on Japan’s Luxury Cruise Ship | Tokyo to Okinawa

today I’ll be taking Japan’s most luxurious cruise ship to beautiful Okinawan Island i love it here as someone who’s both worked and lived on a cruise ship and in Japan this is my first time ever actually blending the two so I’m really interested to see how the next couple days pans out if you didn’t see my last video the MSE Bissima has so much to offer we had some sea days and also got to explore the port of Kilong Taiwan but I have a feeling that these next couple days could be even better girl every time I close my eyes I see your smile in the morning because we’ve officially just made it back to Japan I do have to go through immigration last night we left Taiwan and have now traveled all the way to an island called Makojima in Okinawa Japan it has actually been raining all morning but regardless we’re still going to be going out making the most of our day oh I didn’t go there’s I’m thinking because we’re a bit short on time I’m going to try to take a taxi today’s been one of those days where I end up questioning if I even want to get off the ship but then I remind myself “Yes of course you do you’re only here once.” For the last three months I’ve been in Tokyo and the vibe here is just so different makojima is actually known for having some of Japan’s best beaches yay this is so cool i just got to Sayyama Beach and I got a sugar cane popsicle this reminds me a lot of Otter Pops it has been so long since I’ve had something like this and it’s so good this beach is so pretty from what I’ve read Makoima is mainly known for their sugar cane production but they also have these stunning white sand beaches today in particular I will not be going snorkeling but I’ve heard snorkeling is quite good even just as I’m walking through the water the visibility is really nice the water is so clear just absolutely got whacked by a wave wow short and sweet but a stunning day i feel like this morning I really thought the weather was not going to clear up earlier today it was properly raining so I just didn’t really know what to expect we are currently now an hour out from all aboard so my taxi is going to be here in just a couple minutes crazy that I thought about not coming out at all like it wasn’t even expensive to take a taxi here it was like 1,000 yen and now just more time to enjoy the ship something I love about Okinawa is the stark contrast from like mainland Japan to here cuz it’s just so chill a lot of people don’t realize this but Okinawa has its own culture its own language there’s so much that is unique about it and honestly I haven’t spent a lot of time here but I love like the peaceful island vibes for example Japan is known for being quite punctual when it comes to public transportation here those rules do not apply it’s 2:39 my taxi is here and we are going back to the ship yakojima has been beautiful i love it here there’s definitely a bittersweetness that comes with a shorter port day on the downside it’s a shorter port day i think especially for me as someone who really enjoys traveling and immersing myself in a culture in a space sometimes it doesn’t feel like there’s enough time to do that however on the bright side I feel less guilty about just lounging around on the ship and relaxing sometimes when I get back on the ship after a long day I just feel so spent i like don’t want to do anything else but there is so much to do on board like all the shows all the food i don’t know currently in the situation I’m just feeling really relaxed and just doing some work here after yesterday in Taiwan as well it’s just feeling like a nice balance here’s my view at the moment as you guys can see the top deck is getting a bit sparse it is now 6:40 oh I actually didn’t realize it was that late it’s now 6:40 so at this point everybody’s getting ready for dinner and honestly I should be doing the same we’re back at the lighthouse i am so hungry the lighthouse is what the dining room here is called and tonight happens to be Italian night it’s so cute all the waiters have these vests that have the Italian flag on it and then all the table runners are also the Italian flag incredible kai but you are alone oh it’s okay he said Kai and then he took it back because I’m alone cheers with you guys kai or in Italian since it’s Italian i do like that they have the ficasha bread love ficasha okay why not anyway I have calamari and shrimp now i ordered quite a lot today cuz I actually only had that popsicle and some chocolates good morning from Naha Okinawa what a treat to be back here the first and last time I was here was actually during CO basically I was on contract in Japan during 2020 but even though Japan kind of closed off international travel for a very long time since I was working there domestic travel was open anyway it is currently 8:00 a.m and I will be getting off the ship a little bit later but I did want to take advantage of most of the guests being assured to experience something on the ship that I’m very excited for now we’re here at the Arya Spa honestly I’m not too familiar with spa facilities i don’t necessarily do this very often but I did feel like it was really important to check this out because there are so many rooms to choose from i’ve never done this before so I don’t really know what I’m doing but we’re going to start off with a whirlpool but literally it’s just been 10 minutes and I already just feel so sad something cold i don’t really know exist that was so aggressive it smells like Scott’s pie well now that we’ve cooled off let’s find another hot one shall we bright sensory steam bath let’s go it’s a bit sturby i don’t really know what I’m doing it is so hot in here you can’t see anything but it’s really nice i’m really scared to try this ice one but we’re going to give it a go oh my gosh it’s so cold oh 2° C oh there’s like an actual ice machine what do I do okay you’re supposed to rub your body relax here goes nothing is this Is this right if I’m doing this wrong someone please tell me this is fun i’m enjoying this last on the list is the Tadidarium relaxation room we have hot beds on the right whirl pool on the left i’ve never used one of those before so I’m like It is nice and warm this is very ergonomic last year I went to San in Jamaica and that was my first experience ever but I mainly just got a massage this is like a whole experience what a beautiful way to start the day i feel like I’m still sore from the hike in Taiwan and my body is just like “Why did you do this sooner?” It’s now 11:00 a.m and it is another early port day we set sail at 2:30 which means we don’t have that much time but that’s okay sometimes I think I need to remind myself of first contract alley like I’ve mentioned in the past terribly documented the white chocolate is good but basically we did not do rehearsals in Florida like normal most of it was actually during a dry dock in France and then it partially spilled over into our first cruise where were we solerno sarrento serno sarrento solerno it was my first time ever experiencing going to sleep and waking up in a new place and my mind was just like but alas we had rehearsals once rehearsals were done we literally had 30 minutes 30 minutes that’s all and I literally sprinted off the ship got a canoli and came back like I am not giving up this opportunity i think with my more recent contract it was a lot more repetitive so I did definitely get into the motions of I don’t need to get off the ship today there’s no point in getting off the ship today i’m trying to get out of that mental framework going down i am so thankful I brought an umbrella oh my gosh this is definitely not just a casual little tropical storm she’s coming down flip flops were the move today’s little adventure is going to be very short and sweet i only have about an hour i ended up coming to Kokusai Street which is basically like the big street market type hub in Naha Okinawa so many shops to choose from as I’ve mentioned previously Okinawa is very different from mainland Japan so I was thinking to do just like a little foodie tour first up on the list we have Sata and this is basically an Okinawan donut white sugar flavored it’s like a very interesting shape for a donut hey that’s good it kind of tastes like someone just rolled up funnel cake dough in a bowl of funnel we’re following up with something savory i just went to Kotama which is pork tamago oni oni is often seen as just those little rice triangles but in Okinawa it’s a little bit different here she is pork tamago oni never had something like this before i asked for his recommendation he recommended the one with tofu we got it wow all righty folks here we go that is so good we already have the flavors of the pork and the egg but there’s like this miso paste on top really nice it’s just so big it’s so hard to bite this does not taste anything like a tuna mayonnaise on a ghetin but it’s great ever since I got my new notebook my new thing is collecting stickers so last thing on the agenda is to find one we’re just looking for a nice little souvenir structure maybe here oh hi we have lots of options i think I’m going to get this one and this one i feel like my goal is to get stickers that best accurately depict my time here i ended up getting two stickers one to represent yesterday’s trip and then one to represent today’s this sticker is a little beach day if you ever go to Okinawa you’ll see these characters everywhere they’re called Shisa shisa Shisa they’re often placed at doorways but they’re honestly everywhere and then this one is for today my little foodie adventure getting my my Potama what I got wasn’t quite like Spamsubi like this but I feel like it’s pretty close into the notebook they’re going right next to my Taiwan stickers i don’t think I actually showed you guys these one of them is eating dumplings and then one of them is in boba perfect for my adventure oh cute when it comes to souvenirs I usually get a snack and that’s cuz I don’t like the clutter i don’t like the random little bits and bobs but like having something like this in a book that already is like meaning a lot to me i’m really happy with this cute look how cute it is and I get to bring it with me every day yay guys just look at this view it is a bit gloomy but over here we can say bye to Okinawa bye okay guys it’s gala night what does that entail we are about to find out i was looking at the daily program and it seems like there’s a bunch of fun little events tonight that are a bit special and elegant there’s a theater show called Club Disco which I feel like is going to be very reminiscent of Saturday Night Fever vibes so I’m absolutely going to that it looks like there’s like a dancing with the officers kind of thing i don’t know what that entails but I feel like that could be interesting to watch and then I also made friends with the crew staff and they were telling me about the Golden Party we have a later port day tomorrow so I think I’m going to try and go to that too a busy night ahead of us since it’s gala night and I don’t anticipate paying for any of the pictures I did a little photo shoot before I got to the dining room and now we are here we got a little Caesar salad but seriously like look how little it is it’s so cute smallest little Caesar salad at sea up next we have the sea green it’s tasty and then for dessert we have a coconut tapioca pudding that is quite nice i like that it’s more of like a natural sweetening by the strawberries and the fruit now we’re done eating and we’re going to do the motion with the officers i have not personally seen an event like this before so let’s see what tonight is a night dancing with officers we are more than happy to take the lead and dancing with you especially for ladies we are waiting let’s emotion fields to a fewday this is so stinking cute it’s giving Black Friday deals in the 2000s just absolutely sprinting i feel like I need to do it that was so cute i danced with an officer who is 19 years old he just started cruising and he works in the engineer department so sweet now we’ve just made it back to the London theater and we’re going to be watching a show called Club Disco i had the funnest night tonight starting off with the show it was just so much fun i’m absolutely biased i love disco music there were specialty acts the entire time i was just thoroughly entertained and to make it even better I had company if you saw my last video you may know who I’m about to talk about basically I was just sitting there alone minding my own business ready for the show and then in comes Akisan i met Akisan in a dance class earlier this cruise we both didn’t have partners and we ended up dancing together and having a great time he saw me sitting by myself and asked if he could sit next to me so we watched the show together which was really sweet and then proceeded to go to a party together are you ready for the party so tonight was a very special night because it was the very first time ever that MSSE has had a golden party i was talking to some of the crew staff and they were saying that it’s just completely brand new and it was just so much fun i’ve already showed you guys the LED dome that they have in the prominade but it was just so cool to kind of see it in action and how it just adjusts to fit the theme of whatever the party or occasion is the energy was just explosive there was confetti going everywhere and then before I knew it I had another friend so earlier today before I got back on the ship I was taking some pictures and this little girl just ends up running up to me and asking if we could take a picture together we ended up chatting and I was talking to her family and they were all just so so sweet we’ll skip to tonight and her whole family was already asleep but we ended up spending the whole night together me her and Akisan it was just so stinking precious when it comes to my filmmaker brain I feel like in a situation like that I was thinking “Oh I can go over here and take one angle and then I’ll go over here and take another angle.” But in that moment I was just so happy if you saw my last video I met up with my friend named Jordan and he also does a lot of solo travel and something he said to me was “Happiness is always better when it’s shared.” I think that just really stood out to me because at this moment even though I really enjoy the solo travel part the part that I really like about it is being able to connect with people I wouldn’t normally connect with like Akisan and this little girl i mean to be fair even Jordan because I probably wouldn’t have met up with him if I was with other people here long story short I did not care about the angles i wanted to have a fun time with my friends and it was a beautiful night 10 out of 10 would do it again would recommend to a friend now in preparation for tomorrow I do not just have one shore excursion i have two tomorrow we arrive at Kagoshima but unlike today we actually don’t arrive until noon so right around the time that we dock is when I’m going to be starting my excursion in Kagoshima and then after that I have like the little backstage tour they said no photos or videos for that one i’m going to try to see if maybe they’ll make an exception i’m not counting on it at the very least I will let you guys know if it’s any different than what I’ve experienced i kind of have a sneaky suspicion it’s going to be very similar but we’ll see well I am very tired but very excited to see what these next couple days bring it’s kind of crazy i only have two more days left of the cruise in some ways it feels like it just started in some ways it feels like I’ve been here a long time but it’s one of those feelings mid holiday where you’re like “Wait a second this isn’t going to last forever.” What nonetheless it has been a beautiful day and I’m excited to see what tomorrow brings see you in the morning good night
