TOKYO BEAST, a new competitive ‘play to earn blockchain game’ from developer TOKYO BEAST FZCO, is set for a global release on June 9, 2025. Positioned as a strategy-driven title blending futuristic combat and blockchain elements. From the looks of it, the gameplay looks to be inspired by Axie Infinity / Pokemon.

I am extremely skeptical about this one (as well as every other crypto play to earn game). All the trailers on the official Youtube channel are extremely sparse on gameplay. The problem with many of these crypto games is that they usually focus on the crypto nonsense before developing the actual game. To date there aren’t any remotely fun play to earn games as they’re financial schemes first and foremost.

The game’s initial launch comes with several in-game and community campaigns, including a major tournament and prediction contests.

Global launch set for June 9, 2025, on iOS, Android, and PC
Competitive “XENO-karate” tournament with up to $1 million in prizes on June 21
Win-loss prediction contest for viewers, with in-game and real-world rewards
Pre-registrations surpassed one million, increasing the event prize pool
Live broadcast of the tournament for global spectators
Further event details to be shared via the official TOKYO BEAST X account

TOKYO BEAST is set in a futuristic Tokyo in the year 2124, where androids known as replicants have become central to daily life. The game’s main competitive mode revolves around players assembling teams of BEAST-model replicants to compete in automated battles, with strategy and team composition playing a big role. The blend of combat and prediction mechanics is designed to create a new style of interactive viewing and participation, with outcome predictions rewarded by in-game items or currency.

Players can build and customize teams of four BEAST replicants
Battles are automated, but strategy and composition impact results
Spectators can predict tournament outcomes for in-game rewards
No NFT or crypto purchases required to play, unlike many blockchain games
In-game items can be exchanged for virtual currency and other rewards
Supports multiple devices and free-to-play access

The game is aiming to differentiate itself from other blockchain projects by allowing all players to participate without mandatory NFT or token purchases. The focus is on accessible competitive gameplay, with additional layers for prediction and community engagement. This approach may help TOKYO BEAST appeal to a wider audience compared to traditional blockchain titles, which often require upfront investment. As the game approaches launch, its combination of futuristic setting, auto-battler mechanics, and prediction contests will be worth watching, especially given the current interest in new forms of interactive esports and blockchain integration.
