Miraculous Stellar Force Is the 1st Original Anime Spinoff for the Superhero Franchise
Initially released in 2015, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is a joint production between France’s Method Animation, South Korea’s SAMG Entertainment and Toei Animation (One Piece, Dragon Ball). In a modern Parisian setting, teenage protagonists Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng both gain access to superpowered accessories which transform them into their titular alter-egos. As Cat Noir and Ladybug, the pair defend Paris from supervillains such as Hawk Moth, Robustus and many others. The series’ unique take on Japan’s classic “magical girl” genre has enthralled millions of viewers, leading to the growth of a multimedia empire consisting of films, video games, a manga adaptation and even an official stage musical.
Miraculous Stellar Force’s main setting is a school in Tokyo, which accepts students from around the world. Variety briefly describes the story: “[the series] follows 12 students who discover they are guardians of the Stellar Matrix, a fractured ancient cosmic weapon. Under the leadership of Miki, Mayotte and Yu Lu, these heroes must overcome personal differences and chaotic friendships to face formidable galactic villains such as the revenge-driven “Modeler” and the ominous force known as The Supreme.”
