good afternoon from Fukuoka Japan i’m outside Hakata Railway Station right here the massive absolutely huge Hakata Railway Station and today I’m going to do a bit more exploring in this city so in the last vlog I randomly stumbled upon some interesting looking shopping arcade but I didn’t really check that out so that’s the first thing I’m going to do today is go to the Kawabata Kawabata shopping arcade about 15 minutes walk down here i don’t know what’s going on here some kind of they’re selling some goods so we’ve got like a weed tomato guy here they’re just selling like um like local snacks ah okay that’s interesting some pink some pink drink here what is this what is this peaches peach ah it’s a peach drink okay is this one 150 this 150 okay okay one i will try it okay i just put random all sorts of interesting stuff it’s all peach i think it’s uh peachy peach candy and peach chips i think peach jelly peach everything okay yeah I will have one i’ll try it peach uh peach soda 100 that’s 50 right the one with the hole was 50 I think okay oh for me okay thank you okay okay peach okay it’s a It’s a peach festival here oh we’ve even got like professional i feel like a I feel so lame with my little action camera look at the size of the Look at the size of their camera guys yeah so let’s give this a try oh there was no fizz i don’t think it’s fizzy i think it’s like a still drink oh wow yeah it feels really It tastes very natural it’s not sparkling i thought it was going to be a sparkling drink it’s like a Yeah it tastes like a fresh kind of like a fresh peach juice or something very nice ah demolished that quickly but now I have the now I have the mission of finding somewhere to throw this away like I mentioned in the last vlog they don’t have uh trash bins in uh Japan apparently there was some major incident in the 1990s where people put some kind of sarin gas in trash bins in the railway stations and after that they just got rid of all the bins so it’s like uh yeah there’s probably no there’s probably no point me going looking where I’ve been finding places to throw my stuff away is uh the 7-Eleven or Lawson’s or one of the convenience stores that’s the only places I’ve found with uh trash bins uh or maybe I can give it back to the maybe I could give it back to the stall that I bought it from yeah I think that’s a good strategy like just stick around the place where you bought the the drink or the food and give them back the the trash can I give you this back okay thank you so much thank you bye-bye it was very nice aishi aishi so let’s head over to this shopping arcade then it is only one stop away on the subway but yeah I’m deciding to brave the 100 p.m sun and make a 15-minute walk there i’ll be fine i’ll stick to the I’ll stick to the shade that’s how locals do it they got the umbrellas it’s a sunny day but the umbrellas are out Asian style i need to do that myself I think like it’s a Remember the first time I seen that i thought I thought it looked strange but yeah it’s just common here that’s the thing nobody’s going to look at you daft if you’re walking around with an umbrella in a sunny day they in Scotland they would they think you were absolutely crazy and that peach drink has perked up my appetite my taste buds are alive so I think I’ll nip into the 7-Eleven get myself a we drink for the road for the for the 15 minutes walk to the shopping arcade okay I got this i don’t know what it is it looks uh creamy milky but it has the consistency of water so maybe it’s like a watered down milk maybe it’s like some probiotic thing i don’t know there’s nothing English on this at all and in fact let me Google translate it i should I probably should have done that before I actually bought the thing but let me do let me do a Google translate what the good sleep and bowel care it doesn’t say what it actually is it says this product is a functional food no don’t even know it’s all curved but it’s for your bowels so maybe this is going to have like a laxative effect or something guys h I don’t know if this is a good idea to uh drink this or not but anyway the taste test how does it taste m it tastes like um tastes like sweet milk oh they taste like those like um yakult drinks something like that maybe that’s what it is maybe it’s just a probiotic drink but those are usually tiny and you just like down them as a shot this is like a 500ml like version of that yeah maybe that’s why it’s good for your bells maybe it’s like it’s like taking like five yakults at once five benacols or like one of those we fermented milk drinks i think that’s all it is it’s like a sweetened fermented milk it’s nice uh I like it whether I’ll like the effect of it in half an hour or so uh remains to be seen ah I see Mossber so I’ve tried this in Thailand it’s a Japanese burger chain but I haven’t actually tried it in Japan guys i think I might be up for that they’re very small soft burgers you can eat them like a snack it doesn’t have to be a full meal ah so they have a weekday offer at lunch and it is a weekday and it is lunch it is uh before 3:00 so I can get a Mossburg burger with fries and drinks for 900 that’s pretty decent that’s like $630 or something for a burger meal i’m up for that hello uh this yes mhm coco set drink zero zero no no zero um uh uh i don’t understand uh think can only have soft drink i think yeah that’s mos moss burger drink ah drink miso here mizu mis no i think I need to only only this i think I need to take what one of these right uh I don’t know i don’t know what this is 1,000 and I actually paid with a 10,000 oh okay thank you i just went to ask for a straw and I did Google Translate and it autocorrected straw to strawberry so I was asking for ichigo Ichigo and she was like what what do you want i was like a straw she was like a straw straw so it’s called a straw in uh in Japanese i don’t know language barrier is difficult ah that’s good it’s just the plain tea often when you get a nice tea even in 7-Eleven it’s there’s no sugar or anything added to it it’s just like the zero calorie just tea and water which is what you want save your calories for the food guys okay burger meal acquired so this right here is a Mossburg burger it’s so fluffy so soft and fluffy look at the bun ultra ultra soft so let’s dissect it it is the beef patty there with a big chunk of tomato and some uh spicy Oh making a mess some spicy uh I think it’s like chopped onions tomato kind of sauce let’s stick it in and give it a go oh yeah this is it’s different to how it is in Thailand in Thailand the sauce is spicier and less sweet this is like a sweet and just a very little bit spicy sauce and uh yeah the rest of it is the same it’s the I’m getting some mess yeah it’s the ultra ultra soft bun and ultra soft beef patty it’s like um Yeah so it’s so easy to digest yeah it’s a good thing to eat when you’re hungry but not really hungry you just want something in between a snack and a meal healthy as well big old chunk of them the fries they’re nice just freshening up in the Mossberger bathroom look at this nice and clean you’ve even got fancy Japanese toilet here to wash your butt you don’t get that in McDonald’s in the UK do you like a nice clean private bathroom like this very nice okay let’s get out of here and we are right next to the Canal City Mall so I’m going to cut through that right now ah there is a Minecraft pop-up store with little plushies and all that while I’m in this panel city I wouldn’t mind getting myself some we souvenir another we souvenir like a we dormon toy but I don’t fancy playing these claw machines i’d rather just buy the actual thing that I want guys I think here I think in this this is like Tito station yeah Tito station i think in here like you have to gamble for what you want you have to uh play these rigged these rigged claw machines ah that’s more like it for your nerdy toys lash and Bang it’s all the little figures of cute girls and One Piece Goku whatever you want guys i’m interested i’m interested what interests you amongst all this is it the the Disney characters there or is it the the hotties guys yeah I’m going to get something i’m going to get something from one of these shops every day I’m buying something so by the end of my trip in Japan I’m going to have uh quite a lot of souvenirs to take back with me but uh these machines unlike the claw machines these machines you put money in and you definitely get something out but it’s just random what you get they give you a kind of clue there’ll be like 10 different things like this it’s all Thomas the Tank trains and it could be any one of these so you don’t know if you’re getting like a a rubbishy one or a good one but you’re definitely getting something so you put some coins in oh it’s like 100 300 yen three 100 yen coins and then you twist it so maybe I’ll find one of these that’s nice and cheap and nice and small get yourself a cup noodle ring for your finger so random so so much random stuff some samurai blue I think are they cards i think they’re actually cards uh some badges yeah I’ll try and uh Oh yeah the little uh bear snack things yeah I’ll try and find something that’s interesting and get one of these they’re called gacha these machines they’re gachas they’re retro retro game you actually get a Wii game on a key ring like a little LCD game for 400 yen well it wants four 100 yen coins i’ve got three 100 yen coins and a 500 i think it literally only takes the 100s so I’ll need to get change uh to use one of these machines there’s so many so many of the machines you think they would have a a change thing maybe inside maybe inside they have like a change machine here we go coin changer so I’m going to make sure I put a,000 not 10,000 this time good let’s get myself a retro game okay that’s four now I should just twist it and I get this a little capsule right here give me it damn it okay let’s see what we get i got a red one this right here a little red keychain hopefully it has a battery yeah there’s a little pull tab there so I think that initiates the battery all right it’s on uh it looks like Tetris i think it’s Tetris let me see no it’s some kind of It’s some kind of maze game it’s tiny it’s like literally at the pixel level you have to You have like one pixel that you have to move around this tiny screen i don’t think you guys will even be able to see it i might need to use the macro lens on my phone to show you guys what it’s like you move forward or this all comes down and you have to move through the the maze it’s tiny it’s literally pixels i’ll try and find another machine guys that’s interesting they’re dotted around this mall i see them as I’ve been going around so uh yeah now that I’ve got a a pocket full of coins I need something to spend it on so another souvenir that’s another nice thing in Japan people stand to the left on escalators so if you want to move fast you can just move right past them in other countries people would just clog up the the stairs and you’d have to just stand and wait along with them okay i was looking for another ga machine and I found about a thousand of them look at this this is the Bandai Bandai Namco shop they’ve got Yeah there’s there’s tons of them i think there’s big ones small ones cheap ones expensive ones uh key rings h just all sorts of random i want one with like a theme that I like like a video game or like um I don’t know like series or movie or sports team you can get little uh little basketballs there spalding basketballs i think Spalding who actually make the basketballs make these tiny like versions that you can get what else so like perfumes and stuff you can even get Hawaiian air airlines like little little meal like toy kind of things oh wow oh is this actual food or it’s like a toy version of it can’t even tell i think it’s actually H I don’t know oh wow tons of stuff here okay going to find one or two that are interesting to me ah they got Street Fighter only 300 so $210 you get it’s a Street Fighter it’s a key ring like a dog tag or something like that it says 15 12 maybe that’s how many are available 2 4 6 8 10 12 there’s 12 available and that’s the actual size they show you the actual size of it uh Japanese style they always show you what you’re going to get you never get tricked so okay i’m going to get one of these 300 okay see what we get i got I got a girl i’m not familiar with this character i I played the original Street Fighter 2 and all that and the follow-up Super Street Fighter 2 Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo then uh I didn’t play the latest one so I have no idea who this who this is i want Chun Lee or something maybe I’ll try again i want Chun Lee chun Lee is there i want the OG characters i think that is Chun Lee yeah I want one of the I want one of the OG’s guys or Dim or Zang okay I’m going to I’m going to give it another go oh I got it looks like Ken or maybe Rio one of the OG’s i’m pretty sure let’s see in fact it looks it looks like Look it looks like Look i think that was like Street Fighter 4 Street Fighter 5 i barely played those games i’ve played them each for like half an hour or something but my hundreds of hours on the Street Fighter 2 variations so I didn’t get any of the OGs i got this chick i don’t know what her name is and then I got I got Luke as well okay I’ve got more more coins maybe I’ll try a different a different uh gacha machine hopefully there’s somewhere for me to chuck this the other machine had a a bin right next to it to chuck these away oh there we go i think that’s it there and actually combustibles they always talk about combustibles and non-combustables i don’t know yeah combustables i think I’m not supposed to throw this anything that’s recyclable has a different bin i Where do I put this oh in here ah okay yeah it gets recycled I think yeah yeah oh yeah I see look at that okay and these as well I guess okay oh maybe not maybe not okay okay i’m going to find one uh one more thing that might interest me or maybe the basketball i give it a 500 think it’ll be don’t think I can bounce this let me see if I can bounce it a little bit oh my god okay yeah you I can’t really I can’t really play basketball with this it’s uh it’s very foamy but I can I don’t know i can use it as a little stress toy and throw it around my hotel room or whatever that’s nice okay this time I put all the junk inside it okay yeah I think that’s the way to do it you put Oh no that’s for the junk there ah okay well I finally figured it out it’s too late but I finally figured it out and there’s a another change machine there guys but mission complete i got my little souvenirs guys i can get so many of these so many of these would fit in my suitcase you know it’s like very small little little toys oh my god oh I’ve lost it oh god okay this looks interesting free samples oh okay what is it it’s like some cookie or something is this no that’s some kind of cookie ah it’s this king cookie foka Ichigo ichigo is strawberry i learned I learned the word for Ichigo cuz I was trying to ask for a straw in the Mossburg burger and it auto corrected to strawberry so I was actually asking for Ichigo and she didn’t know what I wanted m that’s nice it’s not too sweet yeah this looks more interesting to me this they got like a uh pancakes with stuffing and it’s like strawberry stuffed inside oh these ones Dora King oh so it’s like a Dora yaki but it’s like a they call it Dora King then it’s like more stuff inside like it’s stuffed with uh matcha and some other stuff yeah I think I’m up for that this is where they make them but they’re not making them right now there they are uh matcha hi so it’s 600 including the tax so yeah like $420 yeah I will just eat it like this okay thank you Arato oh it’s cold it’s a cold thing yeah it’s like very cold maybe it’s like ice cream inside let’s see i’ll try to find somewhere to sit down and give it a munch okay somewhere in here looks good maybe right there or here ether a fresh thing it has to be eaten today and it’s 253 calories for this one little uh snack okay let’s try this Dora King split it open and see if it looks as good as it did in the pictures oh in fact I’m going to make all sorts of a mess so I’m going to just take the first bite oh it’s like a cream oh it’s like a matcha cream and then a strawberry cream in the middle oh wow and then the red beans are there as well that you normally get in a Dora yaki but the Dora King it’s all filling it’s all filling unless the the actual pancake is really thin and the filling is so thick m oh wow it’s tremendous made made short work of it guys made very very short work of it okay i thought I’d found a I thought I’d found a little quiet area there but everybody wants my seat i was standing up and uh for the camera and uh somebody wants my seat but um Oh yeah yeah that was lovely now I’m actually going to make it to this shopping arcade that is where I was planning on going in the first place i just keep getting distracted by Japanese burgers Japanese gacha machines Japanese dora king desserts Japanese everything everything is interesting to me and Japan guys okay I’m in the Fawaka shopping arcade here this covered shopping arcade which would be very useful on a rainy day guys I found this the other day randomly i was just following Google Maps to go to a family mart and it took me here but I didn’t have time to check it out now I’m going to check this out and see if there’s anything interesting maybe some more souvenirs maybe some more snacks without actually checking out any of the shops in the Kalabata shopping arcade it’s called the Calabata Shopping Arcade this long street here there’s actually some things at the side as well we’ve got uh a shopping guide as well i’m sure there’s something interesting in here all sorts of handiccrafts and such like that there’s a rugby shop there for the Japanese rugby teams i wouldn’t mind finding the Japanese football team top every country I go to I get the national team’s top or one of the major teams of that league that’s usually my souvenir but in Japan I’ve been getting these little trinkets little Super Mario Karts and little Spalding basketballs and such like I think I still want to get the the Japan the Japan team h ah some chopsticks you know what i would like the little chopstick holders so I’m often using chopsticks at my desk or whatever i like to Sometimes there’s not you have to kind of like balance them on the bowl or whatever usually there’ll they’ll have these little like ornaments that you can put the end of the chopsticks on i don’t think they sell them i’m sure that’s something I could probably find here i don’t know what they’re called chopstick holders something like this in English they’re apparently called a chopstick rest something to rest your chopsticks on but in Japan they are called hashoki i think it’s hashio yeah hashio so that’s what I can ask someone for if I go into one of these little ornament type shops that sell random little knickknacks and all that hashi and maybe in there they sell all sorts of random uh like Japanese things no ask see there’s the chopsticks there but no hashi oh that’s actually fans hi say hi uh hashi hashi hashio what oh these hashi hi ah all hashi ah dog ah cute kawaii hi ah no they’re not only these ones ah okay and this ah okay i think I like the dog yeah okay uh this uh Shiroy white one yes okay that’s nice this Okay good i got I got rid of some of my coins i don’t know at least these two look the same i always get them mixed up okay okay nice got my hashio guys for my chopsticks that’s nice i knew I wouldn’t leave here empty-handed i knew there’d be something useful for me and down there I seen someone selling the strawberry dauku which are these little mochi kind of sweets the glutenous rice paste but it has like a strawberry in the middle usually there’s some ice cream in a dauku as well some cream or some ice cream so um yeah I want to try that but I wanted to wait until I bought the item I was hunting for first because you can get the reward the the snack is the reward i think pedestrians have right away here in this shopping arcade the cars have to just wait for you it’s uh yeah it’s like a pedestrian pedestrian zone it’s nice nice and relaxed nice place to come and uh browse all these cool shops some little uh little restaurants as well some small restaurants ah here this right here this dauokco dauco okay let me see ah there’s a different one strawberry dauokco uh which one is good this one is good okay sweet bean paste okay itchy um I pay with the cash cash okay okay it’s okay okay okay thank you what is this one bracken starch dumplings huh i don’t know next time next time I’ll try this one okay thank you Arato okay but the sweet duko from the sweet Japanese girl right here so yeah it’s like the mochi kind of glutenous rice it’s very cold and inside it’s like a Yeah there’s no cream or ice cream it’s like a bean paste and then just one strawberry okay taste test i’m going to try and get all the ingredients in my mouth at once the strawberry the paste and the the mochi stuff oh wow that strawberry was so sweet that’s like the sweetest strawberry I’ve ever had and the bean paste the zuki m it’s so dense and flavorful and also sweet wow that is incredible yeah that’s a good one guys that’s all I want to do in Japan just buy random buy random little toys and stuff and eat Japanese snacks if I do that every day then I’m happy guys and my plan now is to walk down to Tenjen tenjen is the neighborhood that’s next to the Hakata neighborhood and it’s apparently quite a nice area guys so I’m going to check that area out right now it’s about 5 or 10 minutes walk away from here oh yeah this is the bridge I took in the last vlog and this is the vending machine that has the one piece card that I bought for 500 okay I’m going to get another one i’ve got a 500 coin right here yes hopefully it takes this i think this is one of the new ones uh which one was it again yeah it was this one uh maybe that’s the one that I’m collecting now since I’ve already got two of them I can uh get another one let’s see [Music] and I’ve just discovered that I don’t just get two cards in each pack for my 500 gen i actually get a bunch of cards i just noticed that there’s multiple cards in there there’s like four or five in each sleeve like how was I to know it was all kind of like packed together i thought they were like big thick premium cards and that’s why they were so expensive like 500 yen for two but oh yeah they’re thin so I’ve got all these this is what I’ve got i’ve got all of these uh yeah it’s four it’s four oh my god yeah it’s uh Yeah I got I got four in each one and then there’s the ones from the previous vlog as well so let’s see what I really got i’ve got these ones and these ones there’s a cute check in every one i think I think you got a cute check a good guy and a bad guy and a random one i think I think that is the system guys let’s see that’s the ones from the previous vlog right here we got the creepy guy we’ve got another cute chick we get a cute chick in every one we got a bad guy a good guy and a funny guy it looks like okay that’s definitely a bad guy so we’ve got him where’s my cute check we’ve got the funny guy we’ve got know what that is what is that yeah maybe a good guy is that Yeah it’s a weird angle and the chick okay doctor or something yeah i mean she’s not very Is that dude i mean those are breasts so I mean h yeah it’s like a manly looking chick okay yeah that’s uh my collection i’ve got 16 cards i’m building quite the collection of this one piece card game every time I walk past that vending machine if I’ve got 500 in my pocket it’s getting spent on these so I’m walking towards Tenzin Central Park it says it’s 11 minutes walk away and it looks like a nice green area so previous green areas that I followed in Fukuoka from Google Maps have turned out just to be like patches of gravel where people practice baseball or rugby or something like that i haven’t actually seen a park since I got here fortunately we are in like a urban environment but it does feel like nice and clean there’s trees around you know providing shade providing nice air everything Everything looks nice but it would be nice to find an actual green area in the city guys so that’s where I’m going to head over to Tenjen Central Park this looks a bit more residential than the areas I’ve been looking at so far i think these are all apartments oh you ouch see that’s what happens when half your attention is on the vlog oh my god the only guy in Fukuoka to injure himself walking down the street ow it’s okay your man’s got big strong quadriceps it’s not going to it’s not going to impact me so I have a little bit of a limp for the next 5 minutes but I’m okay what was I saying about these apartments yeah i wonder what they’re like inside if they’re tiny like the hotel rooms or what or if they actually have like proper amounts of living space compared to western standards you know we’re not in Tokyo or anything where space is at an ultra premium but I mean in any city in Japan space is at some kind of a premium so yeah I just wonder I just wonder about that guys whether uh these would be nice places to stay i had a look at some Airbnbs when I was deciding on my accommodation and I didn’t see anything that I liked they were a lot more spacious than the hotel rooms well a little bit more spacious than the hotel rooms but they they never had like a proper working desk or anything like that it was always like a little stool on the floor like you you want to sit with your legs crossed on the floor it was always like a thin mattress on the Everything was on the floor basically it was like your desk and your bed was like floor level i didn’t really like that i wanted kind of a more western setup where I can actually have a a chair with a back at a desk that I can set up my laptop and use the mouse and all that and I didn’t find it in one Airbnb at all the best I could do is find like a big Airbnb that had like a proper kitchen table and use that as a desk but then you’re talking like $200 $300 a night and then at that price I could stay in uh the Hilton or something like that so uh yeah I just chose the hotel that you seen in the last vlog that was the the best compromise I could come up with with for uh space facilities and price um yeah there’s not much else around that kind of price range that was suitable in this city guys especially your man does slow travel you know like I I’m not just visiting a place for 2 days or whatever you know I’ll stay for like 10 days here like a week there 2 weeks there so uh yeah you know like expensive hotels are fine if it’s just for a couple of nights or whatever you get the experience you get the benefit out of it in your first couple of days you know you get to use all the facilities and stuff but you’re staying like a week and a half or something you know you need something a bit more reasonable i’ve shaken off the I’ve shaken off the pain in my leg might have a little bit of a bruise tomorrow though we’ll see and this green area in front of us should be the Tenin Central Park right here negen park here so far it’s not looking too nice maybe that’s just the car park but these guys making noise here i thought this was going to be like a green relaxing place i mean it probably would be if it wasn’t for the for the guys doing the trimming there yeah that’s nice look at that next to the river you got these like stone tables to sit and chill ah I’m going to remember that the next time I buy some snacks I can come here and munch them that’ll be a nice place and buy a about to press record and uh he came up i seen you in the Nepal sir yeah so um yeah when I’ve been going to Family Mart as well I can tell they look Nepali you know um there’s a lot of them working in the Family M i think that’s what they do they come and they study and then they get a job in the convenience store uh quite easily guys so uh yeah that’s nice nepalies are always super friendly as you seen right there you know just got that nice uh simple friendly humbleness about them it’s so uh it’s so nice the Nepalis yeah so this is the Tenjen Central Park here i actually feel a bit bad about I’m going to whisper because this is actually like a library you know if this was a park in the UK there’d be all sorts of nutcases throwing stuff around and making noise and all this throwing litter around you know but here look not a piece of litter look how clean this is not a piece of litter on the ground and all just Japanese people just chilling relaxing ah this this is nice this is like I said this is where I’m going to come when I’ve got a bunch of snacks to eat and I need somewhere quiet and peaceful to sit and munch them guys this is I think an office and this is like some kind of it’s some kind of garden on a hill that I think you can actually walk up that those steps and walk through it like some kind of like urban forest or something like that let’s read the sign open till 6:00 p.m what does it say it is the step garden yeah so it’s steps ah here we go ah we can go up one side and there’s an observatory there ah it says it’s closed the observatory and the 14th floor is closed we I think we can go up one and down the other and see all this butterflies and flowers and different species of plants and all that that’s quite nice i was saying there’s a lack of uh green area in Fukoka and here we have like an urban forest attached to the side of a an office building that’s very cool your man needs this exercise after all the sweet treats he’s been having today it’s finally time for your man to pay his dues if you do the crime you must do the time guys if you eat the Japanese sweets you must climb the Japanese steps to the top of this urban forest right here oh every time I think I’m at the top there’s another flight of stairs but it’s okay your man will just fly up them oh this is an actual office check it out there’s people actually just doing their work japanese salary men and salary women those office workers that you hear about that can’t leave their office until the boss leaves the office that’s a common thing you hear if the boss is there till like 9:00 p.m all the staff will be there as well all these trees kind of get in the way of the view actually probably the view is there on the observatory but yeah they did say that’s closed ah see it closes at 4:00 is that it am I past 4:00 already oh my god it’s 5:00 guys already so we’re getting some kind of view let me get give you guys the better view while I extend my stick there you go there you go you guys get the better view than me but uh yeah look like looks like I was an hour too late i wonder why they don’t just close that at 6:00 or like at sunset or something like that i guess cuz it’s the uh belongs to the office or something eh they probably just want to you know limit the hours to limit their own hassle okay that was nice though nice sweet bit of exercise for your man ah and back down to the peaceful park area i think right in the middle of this 5:30 p.m and you don’t know what that means in Fukoka the yaties the street food huts will start to open so I’m going to go and hunt for one of them at a different place than I went to the last time i think there’s a an area in Tenjen that has a bunch of them so we’re in Tenjen now according to Google Maps down a couple of blocks this way don’t know if they’ll be open they officially open at 6:00 p.m but the yaties I went to in the last vlog i was there like 10:2 or something and they were already busy there was already people eating so maybe that’s the time to go avoid the cues oh wow we’ve got a Minecraft a Minecraft tree right there i don’t know if it’s officially a Minecraft tree but that is a Minecraft tree even though it doesn’t say it is that’s exactly that’s exactly what it is wow that’s cool okay yatai somewhere ah I thought there was going to be a bunch of yaties i’ve got one saved called Tenjen Yatai Nakan i think that’s it there i think it’s just at this street side i think it’s there on its own it’s not like a bunch and they’re just setting up so yeah that’s uh that’s a no-go for now i’d probably have to come back in half an hour but uh yeah you would they would just have like stools around there and you’d sit there i thought it was going to be like that riverside in the last vlog when there was like a bunch of them in a whole area and I could pick and choose or whatever but yeah doesn’t seem like that’s the case so plan B your man doesn’t have a plan B so it will just it will just continue to wander for now and this is another park this is Keo Park so just opposite from the central park down there yeah plenty of nice areas to relax in tension i guess that’s why it’s considered a nice area i think it’s a very high so area like expensive apartments luxury retail nice parks all of that okay I’ve come up with a plan B guys there is some beach Mamochi Beach which is a man-made beach but it’s an hour and 10 minutes walk away it’s also like 40 minutes away by public transport so I’m probably just as well walking it and just now the time is 37 minutes past 5 and sunset here in the summer is like 7:20 p.m or something so I’ve got time to walk an hour and 10 minutes there i’ll actually be less for your man maybe like 50 minutes for your man for young man’s walking pace and yeah I should be able to get the sunset there at the beach don’t know if that’s a good place for the sunset or not i don’t know what like side the sunsets at or whatever but I mean I don’t have any other plans so uh that’s what I’m going to do i could do a long walk actually after all the snacking I’ve been doing but not in me probably along the way I’ll see something interesting and uh stop for more snacks we’ll see guys we’ll see but let’s uh take a big old trek it’s like what 6 or 7 km away to Mamoi Beach as all these guys finish their job for the day your man’s job isn’t yet done this vlog is not complete until we get a good sunset I think guys what a nice area eh a beautiful area so the beach is the way down this way but I’ve just seen this Folk Walka Castle i think it’s some castle run so there doesn’t seem to be much there i think it’s now just like a park but it’s on the other side of those trees on the other side that is actually a river you can’t see it for all the green stuff well that’s like a river there so yeah I’m going to I’m going to make a detour after all guys going to visit the Fukquaka Castle that I didn’t even know existed well it doesn’t exist there doesn’t seem to be a castle but it’s like the ruins or like the about that much of it seems to be uh seems to be left let’s go and check it out so this is the entrance here oh Park and Muru Park ruins of the main tower base this looks like the the only thing that’s really left oh there’s some turret there there’s the ruins museum which is closed apparently according to Google Maps that’s closed and it’s a huge area so if you remember that Central Park that I was in Central Park is probably about that much kind of area this is about like eight times the size of that this whole park area so let’s go and check it out let’s see ah it’s nothing it’s a bloody uh car park hello how are you skater boy no no that’s skateboard so you’re skater boy how are you you speak anyway right I think this is it up here this is the museum which is some kind of archeological site that’s just basically covered by this building and apparently this is some kind of like there’s stuff under this there was some sign that says there’s stuff under this but it’s just kind of been used as a a park maybe they’ll excavate that in the future but I think the the main tower base is this right here behind these walls which are probably hundreds of years old look at that look at the size of the blocks it’s like the blocks in the pyramids they’re massive they’re saying the Hagashi Gmon east gate was here so this was the east gate to the old fortification right here but no gate now okay 500 m away or 200 m to the turret 500 m to the ruins of the main tower base what’s that guy doing looks like he’s doing some tai chi or some Oh no oh he’s doing some sport ah okay like a javelin thing hey doggo so here we go this is either the turret or the main tower base i don’t know which cuz that sign is only in Japanese guys so let’s see if we can figure this out together oh yes plenty of exercise today i deserve another couple of snacks at least after taking this detour oh I’m finally going to get a good view from up there i was disappointed by the view of that garden urban garden you know I worked for it and I didn’t get a good view here i’m definitely getting one I think anyway maybe these trees will be in the way yeah we’re getting a good view check that out guys isn’t that beautiful wow look at this this is Fukuoka City right here wow and this beautiful green area in the middle yeah there was me saying there’s no green areas in the city and all the time there’s this I didn’t even know about at all and they’re telling you here what some of these buildings are oh Park that’s this park Foka Tower so that’s next to that beach that I was planning on going to i don’t know if I’ll have enough time to go to now so that’s basically Yeah that’s it there fukquoka Tower so that’s where I’m I’m trying to walk to for sunset and the sun is uh quickly gone down and there’s like a baseball stadium right next to it where the Seahawks play yeah so I don’t know i think this might be the turret but then I don’t see anything else there was like a a turret and the main fort base but I see it says here the base of the castle keep this is the base this is the base of the main keep of Fukoka Castle the base is 36 m above sea level and you can gaze over Harry Park to the west it’s not known whether the keep was actually built on this site this remains one of Fukoka Castle’s mysteries so maybe this is recreated then a lot of the castles in Japan are like they’ve been like rebuilt several times and stuff they’re not the original castle cuz it does say there it’s not known whether the keep was actually built on this site so maybe they just built it where they thought it was rebuilt it where they thought it was or something like that i don’t know guys but I’m going to head over to the beach if I’ve got enough time time is it now oh man it’s uh4 6 so that’s about an hour’s walk away by Google Maps but like I said maybe 45 minutes walk for your man so I probably do have time to That’s far away when I see it from here I see that I deserve at least a snack on the way if I’ve got time I deserve it that was quite a detour to this castle ruins yeah I have indeed stopped for a snack i’ve seen these it’s like fruit smoothies but they come as the actual frozen fruit and then they blend them up for you like that it’s full of banana pineapple and something looks like fudge or something like that maybe it’s some kind of ice cream or something or cream i don’t know 116 calories only though i don’t know do I have to make this myself somewhere or like one of these machines let me see oh yeah smoothie machine i think I buy it first and then I go and uh I go and do that let’s see if we can work this out number one scan the barcode where’s the barcode here we go number two remove the seal and place the cup okay number three press button to start okay the touch screen strawberry start now it’s pouring some liquid in don’t know if that’s syrup or water probably just a little bit of water you’d think it would be sweet enough and it is only 116 calories okay there we go just blasting [Music] it that’s it done it says 70 seconds okay fantastic strawberry smoothie fresh m oh nice and thick nice and natural tasting yeah they didn’t add any syrup or any sugar to that oh wow finally finally had something healthy today guys and it looks like we’re just going to arrive at the beach at the exact right time for sunset the sun has just gone down behind that building there so it is actually the beach does actually face where the sun sets exactly so that’s nice guys oh wow i’m about an hour and a half walk away from my hotel and about 20 minutes walk to the nearest subway station guys I’ve uh went on quite the adventure and here we are 7:00 p.m let’s see if this beach was worth the big old trek here it’s empty it’s completely empty guys but it looks nice uh things the hard way today all right it’s like that it’s like the It’s like that beach that I went to in Manila in the Philippines they had like a city beach that was like a man-made beach it was kind of like this where they’ve just basically cleared an area that was probably all trash before and then uh they’ve just laid out some sand like that and people don’t really go swimming because it’s next to a city and all that i think it’s just a place to chill out relax see the sunset over this hill or mountain small mountain or big hill and uh yeah looks like there’s a pier area there there’s probably snacks and all that your man deserves a snack after that trick guys and yeah the Folk Walka Tower is there as well i could go up that and get a nice view a nice sunset view but I don’t know like I think this is nice enough here it’s peaceful as well there won’t be a bunch of people you know if I want to sit and chill this will be nice got a we snack we sit at the pier or sit at the beach or something like that and just chill and end the day that way guys very nice ah guys I think the actual beach has closed there’s some sign here know if that’s the date that it closed and opens or what but there’s this barrier the whole way i’ve just noticed that goes the whole way and nobody’s actually on the beach everybody’s just chilling at the side there and there’s big piles of sand and little tractors and stuff like that so they’re probably relaying the sand or putting more sand down for this man-made beach it’s probably what they’re doing some some project so yeah I can’t get a snack and set at the beach but never mind i’ll go and uh sit at the pier these look like yaties or something like that maybe I’ll finally get my yatai meal here ah there’s a bunch of foreigners here looks like some some Bengali and some euros and stuff ah they got koshi yaki koshi yaki yakitori ah this all yaktori okay see what else is around first got to settle on that there’s some uh noodles i think it’s like yakasoba or something see and takoyaki yeah I think Bengali from where from this Sri Lanka ah Sri Lanka okay sri Lankan okay mistake i thought you were the Bengali okay dr bengal okay you you I’m visiting sir huh this is job sir i don’t know oh yeah okay yeah i will come okay h so this is a nice a nice chill out zone here ah the sun has already set i think I’ll get my takoyaki and uh sit over here i think this is where everyone’s kind of kind of chilling out oh yeah this is a popular place everyone’s getting their uh everyone’s getting their selfies in here with the sunset including your man yes oh oh yeah this part of the beach is open i guess that’s why this is so popular cuz the other beach is the other beach that is there is closed yeah nice though eh just need my taco yaki to sit down there see almost oh it’s these ones oh okay perfect timing and I get a portion of eight teriyaki sauce takoyaki sauce takoyaki sauce oh it’s different to the teriyaki sauce mayonnaise yes nori bonito no okay fish flakes okay thank you very much very nice eat them with stick or chopsticks oh chopsticks chopsticks okay normally you Oh yeah eat i normally eat takoyaki with these yeah I think that’s easier with these okay I’ll take these for later since I’ve since I’ve opened them okay this is burning hot and I’m going to drop it that’s going to be a disaster okay maybe it’s better like this less chance of a disaster guys i know you guys like the disasters but I don’t i like Oh my god my bonito flakes my fish flakes are flying all over the place okay and the sun has set already it is actually set beyond the big hill/ small mountain over there but it’s still nice to go and chill at the seaside we do like to be beside the seaside guys we do like to be beside the sea ah I guess we’ll just sit down here and end the day this way guys with a taco yaki oh wow that sauce tastes like a sweet version of a a Japanese curry i wasn’t expecting that i thought it was going to be something like the the teriyaki sauce but uh yeah it’s like a cocoa jaba sweet cocoa jaba sauce that’s what it’s like see the chunks of octopus there it’s uh the texture of the whole thing is just nice nice chunky bits of meat and nice soft dough there as well lovely jubbly so that is me from another day of exploring and eating in the beautiful city of Fukoka Japan what a nice peaceful clean relaxing place to visit guys really enjoying this city i’m going to stay a bit longer for sure and I’m going to stay a little bit longer at this beach as well i’m going to set up a live stream on Instagram i’m actually going to use the Flow 2 Pro for that because then I can do it handsree i can move around since I have the AI tracker the little device that lets me use any Android app the tracking is all done through this so uh yeah I might as well make use of that right now one job’s finished the vlog is over but time to set up the live stream i’m at the beach this is like a man-made beach in Fukoka it’s kind of like the man-made beach I was at in Manila if you guys seen that i’m using this tracker with the Flow 2 Pro gimbal so I can even stand up i don’t know why I’m ducking down i can even stand up but that behind me is the That’s Foka Tower foca Tower behind me i think you can get a good view from there but I didn’t bother i got my good view of my sunset here at the beach so I’m just finishing off recording my vlog so in the next couple of days you I enjoyed a full afternoon of exploring and snacking in Fukuoka, Japan.

Right outside the Hakata train station there was a stall selling lots of different peach products from Fukushima and Yamanashi. Those are the major peach producing regions of Japan.

I enjoyed a nice peach drink in a can, which wasn’t sparkling and tasted very nice and natural.

I planned to visit the Kawabata shopping arcade, that I made a brief stop at in the previous video. It’s an easy 1-stop subway ride from Hakata train station to Kushida Shrine station, but I decided to walk it as the weather was nice.

On the way there I stopped by MOS Burger for a burger meal snack. I say “snack” because their burgers are quite small. I’ve eaten at MOS Burger in Thailand and always enjoy it when I’m a little bit hungry but not starving.

I was keen to find out if it would taste different in Japan, and to me the sauce on the burger tastes less spicy and more sweet.

I then passed through the Canal City mall, buying a lot of random souvenirs from the Gachapon machines. These “Gachas” are ubiquitous in Japan. They are small vending machines, with items costing around 300 – 500 Yen.

Each machine has a theme but the actual variation of the item you get is random. Most of the items have a keychain and I see a lot of younger Japanese people attach them to their bag as a fashion accessory.

I also grabbed another snack at Canal City, a variation of a Dorayaki called “Doraking” at the Itoking bakery. Dorayaki is a Japanese sweet treat made from two fluffy, golden pancakes, sandwiching a dollop of sweet red bean paste (azuki). These ‘Doraking’ variations have thinner pancakes and thicker filling, with a load of fresh cream added. Yum yum!

After enjoying that delicious Japanese dessert, I headed over to Kawabata street where I bought another useful souvenir, a chopstick rest or ‘Hashioki’ as they are called in Japan.

I also found a stall there selling Daifuku. Daifuku is basically a soft, chewy rice cake (called mochi) that’s filled with something sweet and tasty, such as sweet red bean paste. The one I bought had a full, sweet, Japanese strawberry.

The outer mochi layer is made from glutinous rice flour, giving that nice chewy, stretchy texture.

After all those snacks it was about time to put the two strong legs into action and go for a long walk, and that’s what I did, all the way to Tenjin Central Park, where there’s an urban forest on the side of an office building where you can go for a wee hike.

My plan after working up an appetite there was to visit a Yatai street food hut for dinner, but I was too early for that, and ended up going on a further trek.

First to Fukuoka Castle ruins, where there isn’t much there, but it is a nice big open green area. Then to Momochi beach, a man-made beach that was developed on reclaimed land for the 1989 Asia Pacific Expo.

There’s quite a few food stalls there, and I ordered the classic Osaka street food snack ‘Takoyaki’ to take to the sand where I sat and enjoyed the sunset.
