Eat! Eat! Eat! at Hokkaido Morning Seafood Market & Unique Ramen. Wild Flight Back to Tokyo Ep.576

[Music] let’s shake some Hey guys good morning Today we’re in Hakodate Let me get ready All right So I’m so ready We are heading to Asai which is the morning fish market Let’s go find a nice Hokkaido seafood breakfast By the way this is the hotel that I stay It only cost 5,000 Japanese yen It was about $35 US A little bit far from this station which is 15 minutes by walking There is a big onsen inside the hotel too Thinking about the price and quarantine more in this video All right so let’s go I need to check out first They also have breakfast over here but my plan wasn’t included All right they also has the nice lobby All right so let’s keep walking What a beautiful day This place is only 15 minutes walking from the main station of Hakodate but each buildings are so big Yep Hokkaido It’s more like United States People who live around here definitely they need a car Uh Trump there No subway around Another train Speaking of the temperature it’s 18° wind is 1 m/ second 61% humidity Sunset time is 7:3 Well compared to Tokyo feels a little bit cold but it’s located in north part of Japan so it’s of course though By the way hey guys welcome back to Ryan TV I’m Ryan S Please don’t forget to check my Instagram All right so let’s keep walking Uh I need to drink coffee Well well if you visit the big city in Japan there are so many company all over the places But if you visit countryside of Japan still there are not that many companies You got to be ready for that too So that’s the Trump station and finally we arrived to Hakodate station We will come back to Hakodate station later Asai the morning market should be over there If you visit Hakodate and if you don’t want to walk much you’d better find the hotel around this bay area though So asai the morning fish market around this area must be over there It’s a big fish market I’m excited Wait maybe only this block until there Well it’s much smaller than what I expected but uh that’s okay Let’s go check up inside So yo I do means bowl Yoko means alcha means market Oh so actually there are so many seafood bowl restaurants Some store already closed because they are opening from the very early morning Right now it’s 900 a.m So maybe that’s the reason why Well technically it’s 9:15 Well however for me still it’s early morning though Let me check up the price So the small seahub su and ikura 1,500 Japanese yen also Oh these five different kinds 1,650 That looks pretty good Oh and this salmon and the scalp That sounds good too How about the next one they have a crab and ikura 2,000 Japanese yen This one includes uni seing as well 2,000 Japanese yen Oh this sweet shrimp one 2,100 Japanese yen That looks pretty good as well Well I love sin but with this price range I’m expecting not that good qui even in Hokkaido So I want to eat something not Let me see what else we have Oh look at this restaurant They have a crabs It must be the fresh one How about this area oh this area We have more This area’s atmosphere Close that out It’s Kijiji Fish Market What do we have inside here oh that’s interesting They have so many different kinds of foods It’s a dried seafood That’s a dry scalp too Oh 30,000 Japanese yen Well that’s a lot though And also I Oh seems like the place is popular I’m wondering what they have Where is that sui means fishing pond Oh really you can fish the squid and they will cook it for you Interesting There’s a line But sounds interesting Why not let’s try that So seems like there are two different kinds One is the suma taroto Japanese flying squid Yeah that’s the English one And uh this I have no idea what it is Maybe there is a translation over here All right so finally it’s my turn Seems like line gets longer All right here we go So we discounted to get for the market We need to find her squid head Maybe All right we got it Sweet We got it Was much easier than what I thought There was a water on the rims I need to clean up And they will cook in front of you [Music] Sweet We got it It’s the fresh squid So there is a soy sauce over here And they just place you know it’s kind of scary because still a little bit moving but uh we take the life of animals and live So you got to give us it is not smelly A little bit sweet perfectly matches with soy sauce Especially with that fun experience If you have a kid maybe that would be the perfect spot to eat the squid How about the sweet leg basically it’s the same taste You know I just wake up so it’s good for the breakfast So it’s ginger better You know in Japan we have a sushi and a sashimi culture eating the raw fish But if you don’t have the eating raw fish culture probably you feel a little bit interesting But you know that’s part of our culture too So if you visit Japan maybe you can try that So almost eating the old part of the squid but no parts were smelly M It was pretty good So it cost 1,000 Japanese yen as entertainment Loving it Let’s keep exploring Ah they have a crab over here Barbecue one So what else we have okay nothing Let’s go back to that main street Oh seems like line gets longer One thing you have to be careful of that squid place line looks pretty short but uh there are only one person cooking So it takes much longer time than what it looks like I had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes So be careful if you are in rush So what else we have so that’s a seafood bowl place too Oh here the another market So seems like this area they are having the fish also souvenir as well They have clothes also t-shirts Ah here they are selling tayyaki Price is 150 Japanese yen Let’s eat tayyaki She told me it take about 7 minutes to cook So we can come back there Wow Oh the place they will cook it for you So this area becomes like the food court It’s the soba restaurant They have so many different kinds of soba Also barbecue seafood and sashimi tempura also All right we got a tayyaki There is a sweet ribbon paste inside Still it’s pretty hot Price was 150 Japanese Since I just ate the raw fish I wanted to eat something harder It’s perfect To be honest tayyaki taste quality is not as high as that the you know tayyaki pul that the ch restaurants but I really enjoy the atmosphere So still loving it So let’s keep walking Also here’s Arabic street food Most of the places seafu bowl that Kizukushi So many squids and the price is 1,980 Japanese yen That looks pretty good Ah they sell melon Melon is very popular from Hokkaido too Why not let’s [Laughter] eat We can eat over here Huh Looks pretty good All right let’s eat It’s very sweet and soft Perfect for the breakfast too Loving it Speaking of the difference compared to Kiji Fish Market and also Kong Market Well maybe because we came to the countryside but people’s atmosphere is kind of slow and very friendly as well So I really enjoy the atmosphere as well Yeah I loving it Eating melon Let me feels like I’m in Hokkaido now All right so let’s keep walking Seems like there’s something squid fishing So I guess this is the end of the street and it becomes the ocean They just get the fish from there every morning so that’s why it’s fresh Well seafood is pretty good and it’s fresh But since I’m not morning person I feel like don’t want to eat seafood much in the mornings Probably for me seafood is for the dinner time But if you love to eat a seafood from the morning yep this asai would be a perfect spot for you There will be the food street in the next spot too So let’s go to the next spot Now we came back to the Hakodate station and the next spot is the Goro Kaku So we are over here We will take a bus and heading to all the way down over here This is one of the popular spot at Hakodate According to the Google map we need to take a bus from number five So it must be from there Well speaking of the Asai that morning fish market the restroom cleanest level with the Ryan’s rating two stars Well with the Japanese standard though but uh yeah it wasn’t that clean So if you want to go to restroom probably you’d better go to the restroom in the hotel first and you can visit there Yeah I think that would be better Seems like there are more people over here Oh yeah It says five Oh yeah 5B So according to this we need to take the bus number five heading to the Gorio Kaku And they only have one bus in hour and the next bus is from 15 I have to wait another 15 minutes Well if you visit in the countryside of Japan usually it happens So it’s shine Well riding on taxi it’s expensive So let’s wait for the next pass We can just wait over here Is this the one i believe so It says number five Oh yeah It says Goryak Tower So probably I don’t better touch here So from here to Koreaku it takes about 15 minutes by bus but if we walk it takes 15 minutes So yeah definitely we take bus and now let’s ready to go So let’s go See you Hak station [Music] Finally we arrived So this is the bus that I need to take for going to the airport as well So I’d better remember the time They just have one bus in the hour and uh 12:30 1:30 and 2:30 This will be the last one So probably I’d better catch this 1:30 one My flight departure time is 3:10 If we take a bus from here 1:30 probably we can arrive to the airport around 2 something So 1 hour before the flight for domestic flight I think it should be okay Here we go Now we are at Goryokak tower So the next spot Goryokak tower It is a tower of Java tree We can look down the Goryokaku It’s a popular spot of Shinsengumi So there are so many you know samurai to mascot over here Entrance fee cost 1,200 Japanese yen Let’s be in line for the tower Probably it wouldn’t take that long All right so we got the ticket We will use that elevator over there Let’s go So that’s the Goryok park It is a stshaped So this is the Goryokaku built in the late Edo period It becames the final stronghold of the samurai loyal to the Tokugawa Shogunade Tosho Hijikata a legendary samurai led the defense here during the Boschin war So the Goryokaku is one of the most popular spot around here We can see the Hakodate town beautifully too Oh yeah that’s the mountain we have visited yesterday There’s a beautiful observatory We could see beautiful town too So let me explain about the history of Japan a little bit During the Edo samurai period Japan was closed country to the foreign country By the end of the eight period American battleship Kuropun came to Japan and they told Japanese people to open the country The war had started samurai from the Edo period against new governmental army Tosho Hijikata was the sub leader of the samurai side They were fighting and escaping Eventually they came all the way down to Hokkaido and he died over here And the new government was started Here we go This is the sculpture of Tosho Hijikata Let’s go downstairs Oh there is a skeleton floor Scary Oh I just realized still there is Sakura This Goryokaku is popular place for Sakura trees But I didn’t expect that we can see Sakura until now Wow it’s almost June and they have golio cak tower pima cheese Also the souvenir shop All right so let’s go down There is ice cream shop Also the hakate curry pan curry bread They also sells the curry too All right why not let’s try the curry pie Sweet There’s a table to eat Sweet It looks pretty good It’s crispy outside Nice flavor of a curry A little bit sweet one perfectly matches with this bread Yep In the morning time I prefer something it’s cooked You know my stomach feels safer too Well maybe because it’s the weekday but compared to the other travel spot this place you know much fewer people so it’s more easier to visit and also check up the places price 300 Japanese yenshi So let’s keep walking in the goryokak park So that’s the thing they used and tosho hijikata over here too There are many fan of toshio hijikata in Japan and this is a kind of a sacred place for them So many people visiting over here to check up this to hijikata So let’s keep walking Oh my goodness that’s beautiful view Now we are heading to the Hakodio It’s the magistrate office This magistrate office built in 1860 It serves as the administrative and the ministry headquarter of the shogunit in Hokkaido During the Boschin war Hijikata Toshi and the remaining samurai used this as their final command center The current building is a faithful reconstruction offering a glimpse into the last days of samurai era Go check up inside We have to take off the shoes from here Nice atmosphere So it cost 500 Japanese yen to enter inside Okay Where do you put the money down here They only accept the cash Wait all right Here we go That’s the ticket [Applause] So let’s keep walking inside They’re explaining about this building and also that’s the way to go Wow So in the past time everyone gathered together and had a meeting over here and that’s a kakuk it’s the courtyard So those are the place that you can learn about the history They also explained it with the theater too and the rebuilding zone It’s the stairs going to the rooftop Very steep We can see the gorioak park beautifully from here too This is the buki oki jo They used to place the weapon over here And this is the dashki They welcome the people over here That’s the old style restroom Yep Asian squat style Of course you can’t use it And that’s a place to wash hand This building made by the traditional way They don’t use the nail and uh they use the tsugi meaning connection There is a small over here Because of this it’s like the puzzle Because of this they can make it without using nail It must be very complicated And also the accurate Wow I’m wondering how long it takes to make one That must be a very long time And we are at the exit It was a nice spot It’s always fun to learn about the history And also this building reminds me my grandma’s house Well of course it is not as big as this but uh yeah it’s a traditional Japanese house That’s so that’s the building we have visited This place used to be much bigger but uh now you know it became a smaller version Yes that’s a tower we have visited It’s pretty high huh i think there’s some food street I’m wondering where it so reminds me the Demon Slayer anime It used to be so popular in Japan but recently never heard it So Tosho Hijikata was the subarator of Shinsengumi Shinsenumi is known for the strict discipline and so the skill samurai group They are originally started from the Kyoto but they fight and escape Fight and escape eventually arrived to Hokkaido and he dies in here It’s a long history and it’s a very interesting to learn about the history as a Japanese Even now there are many fans of Shinsengumi Goryokaku It’s very interesting spa Oh before leaving here I haven’t explained about the Goryokaku shape So Goryokaku was built in the st shape to improve the defense The pointed corners allow the defense to cover all the angles and the fire on the enemies from the side It’s the western style design So it is a unique shape building in Japan Yeah By the way restroom over here It is the zero star So you got to be careful Let’s walk in the side street Oh conveyor restaurant we have here Nice But since it’s crowded we don’t have time to wait There are so many buses Probably the bus tour will be easier We still have time until the bus time So let’s check up the souvenir store Oh it’s snow version Hokkaido version This bear looks so Hokkaido 935 Japanese yen We have a cuter version too Interesting I thought it’s Pikachu but seems like it’s not Huh I was thinking to get some giveaway gift but uh couldn’t find something good So maybe we can find it at the airport We’ll see We still have 17 minutes to go but uh maybe we can wait in front of the bus stop There is no vending machine around there Yeah the coffee is already gone Should have get one at that store That’s okay We can just wait over here It’s almost the time Hopefully bus will not be delayed Oh yeah number five So this must be the one Yep Right on time Let me go in to make sure because I don’t want to make mistake Yep It’s heading to the airport So we on the right track I was sleeping in a bus and almost missed the station There were so many people waiting in front of the taxi Sunday but today seems like not that many customer still 1 hour 10 minutes before the flight We have plenty of time Oh I haven’t played the ramen yet after arriving to Hokkaido Ramen is popular in Hokkaido too So let’s eat ramen Still we have time before the flight Really they have a miso curry ramen too Interesting Never heard it I’m wondering if I should eat this miso ramen or this curry miso ramen I just asked to the waitress It is special over here and it’s also popular here too since I’ve never tried the miso curry noodle Why not let’s do it All right here we go Interesting It smells nice curry flavor They use the milk inside so it must be mild taste All right so [Music] Interesting A little bit of curry flavor but not like super curry A little bit mild too Plus the miso flavor Wow Loving [Music] it Feels like that I’m not eating ramen Very interesting How about the cho well maybe of course but definitely it’s better than the vending machine one Yep Before leaving Tokyo yesterday we ate the ramen from the vending machine Not the capital That’s a special vending machine in Canada airport Yeah I thought that’s pretty good thinking about the vending machine food However yeah compared to the real ramen restaurants ramen ramen restaurant it’s better Especially I like the soup Yeah this light taste flavor Even if I’m super tired I can eat it Usually the ramen is sometimes heavy and oily So those kind of ramen when you are tired if you eat you feel more tired But it’s kind of like tasty ramen Yeah you can eat like a soba or udong So I loving it So full Price is 1,260 Japanese yen Loving it It’s about 50 minutes before the departure So let’s check in So let’s go to the security checkpoint So it must be over here So there was no waiting time inside It took like 5 minutes That was pretty quick too So seems like that’s a gate And uh Oh 5 minutes di Okay It is a small terminal We have small souvenir shop over here and also small cafe And I guess that’s it Yeah seems like already it’s the dead end There is a business corner means probably there’s a power outlet over there and this is again they have Hokkaido limited Coca-Cola Okay Well we still have 30 minutes before the flight So we can wait over here Last time when I was in Hokkaido there was a winter season and due to the heavy snow the plane was delayed about an hour I can’t remember But compared to that 5 minute delay it’s like nothing So yeah I got the charger over here too So let’s wait over here By the way yes Hakod lucky Well I never seen this drink in Tokyo and I’m not sure when I will come back again to Hakodate So yeah before leaving there I wanted to drink it again Yeah All right So seems like finally we can enter So eventually it’s 10 minutes delay but not that bad All right sweet Yep cuz I’m leaving I don’t know when I’ll be back again Let’s go back to Tokyo This time it’s ANA airplane All right so let’s go My seat is all the way down So 28 here So this is how much space we have It’s like the Shinkansen There’s a table over here but no display though I guess we can control something And also there is a USB charger over [Music] here Move away from the aircraft immediately seat So I got coffee but it’s pretty shaky today So kind of hard to drink It’s kind of fun too though Also today I have a flight in the next seat so it’s much easier to fly Not [Music] So I could connect to the free Wi-Fi Download is 43.5 Upload is 4.86 So it’s pretty fast Not bad at all Because of the rainy crowds It shakes a lot All right Finally we arrived It’s cloudy outside We don’t have a luggage to pick up so we can just get out And here we go It’s already 5:00 p.m It’s almost the time for the rush hour So let’s use the monor rail this time So this is the entrance of monor rail Oh it just gone Uh but next one is coming over here though This is the stig train So here not that many people but there will be more and more people riding on this train though [Music] We arrived to how much show station Now we need to change the train Russia time in Tokyo usually looks like this And we have to take a train either one or two probably line blue one will be faster but that one was too packed so we couldn’t ride it We got wait for the next train Oh my goodness Super pack but only several minutes so it’s okay Finally came back to Tokyo station Yes If you have a big luggage uh you got to be ready for that That train always crowded especially during the rush time However it’s hard to ride on the train but still you can ride it So you got to be ready for the crowds but don’t worry that much Tokyo station very crowded as always All right so let’s go Since we came back to Tokyo Station let’s check up the Tokyo Ichibangai 2 By the way this is the Shinkansen entrance If you are heading to Hokkaido by the Shinkansen you need to use this Tohoku Shinkansen which is the green one There is a special shinkansen class to the Tohok region I will try that in the future And also if you are heading to west part of Japan such as Osaka Kyoto Hiroshima Kyushu region you need to use this Tokaido Shinkansen which is the blue one Compared to Tohok Shinkansen this Tokaido Shinkansen is more popular There are more trains so let’s go up from this station I just ate ramen but I feel already I’m hungry Well I did nothing though I was just sleeping in the portion That’s okay Let’s go By the way it cost totally about 600 Japanese yen If you are looking for a place to eat in Tokyo station just come over to Y area and you can check out the Tokyo Ichibangai There’s McDonald’s food Just go downstairs And yeah those are the Tokyo Ichibangai There is a Roman street but you know since it’s the dinner time there’s a so long line Wow Really there’s a long line in front of Tonkat’s restaurant too Weekend dinner time usually looks like this in Tokyo station There are many options but if you want to eat around here you need to wait it Now we are walking toward Naruno area There are so many people in this station but still there are many availability for the coin lockers though Sweet It’s not raining outside Still the ground is wet so it was raining maybe until several minutes ago Yes finally we came back to Tokyo All right sweetie It’s always great meeting with you guys Hello Hi Ready set go Good to see you again Second time Yep It’s always great meeting with you guys If you see me on the street don’t forget to g to me so that I can realize you are the viewer So see you soon in Japan So speaking of the weather it’s 16° right now Wind is 6 m/s So compared to Hokkaido it’s cooler over here So in my conclusion of Hakodate trip talking about the cost the airplane ticket cost about 40,000 Japanese yen and the hotels I only stayed one night and I stayed in the cheaper hotel which only cost 5,000 Japanese yen So altogether about 45,000 Japanese yen But this is the travel off season If you visit there in the busy time it might cost more But if you like to travel somewhere that not that popular spot probably that Hakodate will be fun spot compared to Saporo definitely there are much fewer travelers but it’s fewer travel spot as well If you like the train trip or if you like the local train trip you can maybe just take the train from Tokyo going up to north and north Stop by around Tohoku region Ali prefectures too and go to the Hakodate eventually goes to the Saporo That will be the long train trip but it would be fun as well So does it worth visiting there well my conclusion it’s okay Well if you have visited Saporo already and also Otaru other places and still you want to visit Hokkaido you can visit Hakodate But if you haven’t visited other popular prefectures maybe you can visit there first and you can stop by at Hakodate But if you like the local atmosphere or you want to see the Japan local stuff especially if you like the shinsenumi tosho hijikata probably that would be a best price The first half of the year is ende In the second half of the year I’m planning to travel many places by the airplane Actually I wanted to visit Okinawa first but since it’s rainy season in Okinawa now I decide to visit Hokkaido But I’m planning to visit Okinawa Kyushu and also I want to visit the Ishigaki Island and the Miakoima Island as well which is very close to Taiwan I’ve never visited there but I heard it’s a pretty nice island so I’m really looking forward to it Well this time I just stay in Hokkaido one night Well it’s a short trip but because of that I didn’t have to bring my laptop neither the you know suitcase so that I could visit many places without luggage freely So I might travel to other places with the one day trip as well Huh Well we’ll see though Anyways there are more and more travels are coming People who love travel videos Yes finally time has come So please look forward to it And don’t worry people who love Tokyo’s videos I’m keep making the travel situation update and also Tokyo news as well So please look forward to it as well Anyways I’m not sure how that video will get the view or not But if you enjoy the video please don’t forget to hit the like button It will really encourage me to keep shooting videos And if you love watching local part of Japan video make sure to watch the videos More view more possibility that I will visit more local part of Japan So for your support you know I felt like Hokkaido is a very far place Well actually it is a far place However if I use the airplane only takes a 90 minutes and I feel like it’s very close especially this time I didn’t use the LCC I used the ANA With using the ANA price is a little bit expensive compared to the LCC flight However I can always change a flight That means I could book the ticket in the morning before I leave from Tokyo And also there is always option that if my trip becomes late I can change the time of the flight as long as if there is availability without cost any money So there was less pressure of the flight That’s the reason why I could enjoy this time’s trip more compared to before Yeah as you guys know I’m really bad at making this schedule So the flight ticket this time definitely it worth it I want to make more and more local part of Japan video which I haven’t missed because it’s far such as Kyushu Okinawa you know the other different kinds of island But finally time has come Yes we are traveling together So please look forward to it Anyways more videos are coming So if you haven’t please don’t forget to subscribe to the channel so that you will not miss my 1. Ahh yes, Saturday Dinner and Rion – Thanks for the cost-breakdown and always showing us great spots! Are you excited for the next chapter of One Piece? ☠

  2. OK, so based on your video, Hokkaido is really not a tourist destination, and not worth your time and money to go there.

  4. I ❤travelling videos! More and more adventures soon! YAY! 👏👍Sorry, can you please repeat the names of the islands that you are planning to go to that are close to Taiwan?

  5. How interesting, you fish your squid and additionally eat it, so it just cannot get fresher. The Fish Market is large but not hectic. Hakodate has rich history and nature, nice observatories and is interesting situated in the bay, anyhow worth visiting. You were lucky with the weather, sunny and not cold, but on your flight back to Tokyo you experienced stormy moments. The whole trip was excelent and well done. Now, you may rest a wile for next adventure. GAAOOO..

  6. This was a very enjoyable overnight trip to Hakodate. I love local Japan videos, so I'm very much looking forward to your second-half of the year travel vlogs, especially Okinawa. Arigatougozaimasu, Rion! 😊✈
