On 7 June, Orix lost 4-5 in the 12th round match between Western League regular season and Orix at Wakayama Prefectural Kimiidera Stadium Kufu HAYATE Ventures Shizuoka.
Orix scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning on back-to-back singles by Dale and Musashi Shimizu and sacrifice bunt by Shuna Hori with no outs, and an RBI doble by Jo Endo. In the bottom of the fourth, they added a run on a bases loaded with one out on a hit by Seiya Yokoyama and a sacrifice fly by Musashi Shimizu.
Starter Takehi Ashida pitcher, who was relieved from the start, got off to a perfect start, striking out three men from the first to the third inning. Toshihiko Kuramoto’s timely doble in the top of the fourth and Hirao’s RBI single in the top of the fifth gave up one run each, but they were able to protect their lead and surrender mound with 5 hit 2 Hit by Pitch 1 strike out 2 runs and winning pitcher in the fifth inning on 57 pitches. However, in the top of the seventh, Ryusei Gonda pitcher at third allowed an RBI infield hit to Shohei Suzuki from third base with two outs and the game back to square one.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Hori and Endo hit back-to-back singles to put runners on second and third with no outs. After Tokumasa Chano ‘s sacrifice fly scored one run, Soichiro Yamazaki pitcher got through the top of the eighth inning with no runs. However, in the top of the ninth inning, Kaito Saiki pitcher in the fifth, scored on back-to-back RBI singles by Suzuki and Kuramoto to make it a two-runs game. Trailing by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, the game ended with a 5-4 tie.
