$35 Hotel Worth It? Hakodate Local Unique Food and Stunning View! Flying from Tokyo Ep.575

[Music] Hey guys, today we are in Tokyo station heading to Hokkaido flying with ANA. Today I’m wearing a little bit heavier clothes because Hokkaido is located in north part of Japan and it must be cool over there. All right, so firstly, let’s go to Canada airport. We will have the flight from Han airport today. It takes about 30 minutes from here. Compared to Narita Airport, it’s closer because if Narita airport, it takes about an hour. So we are heading to airport by the train. Let’s go inside the station. Speaking of the travel situation, I feel like there are more travelers compared to before, but it should be the travel off season right now. So it might be more and more during the summer time. After it becomes July, there must be more travelers in Japan. So firstly we are heading to Shinagawa station and we will change the train. Let’s keep walking. Train must be arriving soon. Oh yeah, that’s the line. This train has the second floors. That’s a reserved seat and those are the non-reserved seat. Seems like it’s a little bit crowded today. The green one over there is one of the most popular train in Tokyo. Yamanote drive. This train must be faster because there are fewer stop. Now we just arrived to Shinagawa station and changing to the KQ line. This red one over here. You just need to follow that red sign over there. Shinagawa station is one of the biggest station in Tokyo. It’s always crowded. Yep, there’s a red sign over there. We just need to follow this arrow. By the way, if you are using the Shinkansen, you just need to follow that blue one. So, today we are heading to Hakodate in Hokkaido, which is a little bit a niche city compared to Saporo and Otaru. But since I have visited Saporo already, and also I want to introduce the nit city too. So that’s why I decide to go to the Hakodate. This time we are planning to visit a beautiful night view spot and also morning fish market. It must be really exciting. But one thing that I worry about is that hotel I booked this morning. I just booked the hotel but the price was only $5,000 Japanese yen which is about $35 which is a little bit too cheap for the hotel. But hopefully it should be okay though. But if it’s a good hotel, maybe you can use it next time when you visit Akodate. We’ll see. Anyways, let’s go to the airport. It’s the red one over here. There is a small stairs, but uh there is a elevator too. In Japan, most of the places it’s barrier free. However, Hakodate, I’m not sure because it’s not that big city. So we will see that the train we are taking is a limited express to Haneda airport arriving in 4 minutes. There is other way to get to the Haneda airport too which is using the monor rail. However, since it’s not the rush hour time and also this way it’s 100 Japanese and cheaper. So that’s the reason why I decide to use this way this time. But during the rush hour time this Shinagawa station will be super crowded. So, I usually use the monor rail though. And here we go. This must be the one. Let’s go. Here we go. Finally, we arrived to airport. If you’re using the international flight, most likely you are heading to terminal number three. However, if you’re using the domestic flight, you will arrive to this terminal one or two. If you’re using the JAL terminal one and the ANM flight terminal number two, some international flight leaving from terminal number two too. So make sure to check up before you use it. We still have 2 hours before the flight. So let’s eat something from here. It took about totally 500 Japanese yen and 30 minutes. Seems like it’s very crowded. Here we go. This is how the airport looks like. I have visit so many times this airport, but it’s my first time to use flight from this terminal because whenever I’m using the domestic flight, I always use the LCC airline which is always leaving from Narita airport. However, since this year, I’ve decided to saving the miles with ANA. We will have the flight with ANA many times. So yeah, I will be super familiar with terminal number two too. I have used terminal number three many times too. But uh this terminal number two my first time. We will be super familiar with restaurant as well. Well, I’m already familiar with restaurant here though. There is a fancy Mercedes restaurant over here but the price a little bit higher. If you want to save money, there’s a McDonald’s and also Malukame, which is a good and cheap udong restaurants. But seems like there is a long line. Even it’s in the airport. You can eat the udong with about 900 Japanese yen. I think it’s a good price for the airport. Well, I don’t want to be in line. Let’s find something different. I remembered there was a vending machine restaurant over here. Well, but I can’t remember if it was terminal one or terminal number two. Let me check. Oh, yeah. Sweet. It’s in terminal number two. Maybe we can eat over there. If it’s crowded, there is a Yoshinoya and also Tempura restaurant, Tendona, which is good and cheap restaurant. It comes with miso soup, but only cost 820 Japanese yen. Pretty good. So, it should be in the first floor. By the way, we were at the underground level. Usually in the Hanada airport underground level, there are good and cheap chain restaurants. So if you want to find a good and cheap chain restaurant, just go down and down. If you go up and up, there are many fancy restaurants too. So I guess must be here. Oh yeah, here 24 hours goment. Seems like it’s a little bit crowded, but not bad. So inside here there’s a ramen vending machine also on rice bowl plus sandwiches. I think they used to have the pizza too but seems like it’s gone already. They have many different kinds of option. Let me see the price. Oh, it’s about 850 Japanese yen. It pretty similar price with you know tangy and the yoshinoya. Huh. I’m not sure if we worth it. No not. But since this place is not that crowded, let’s eat over here. Let’s eat soy sauce taste. So, they are cooking ramen now. All right, I guess it’s almost ready. Three, two, one. Here we go. Nice. Oh, it’s pretty hot. We can get the chopsticks and the spoon over here, but seems like it’s already spoon is gone. All right, here we go. Oops. I got to be careful because it’s pretty hot. Wow. Smells pretty good. A nice lime smell. There is tush which looks pretty good and also bamboo plus noodle. [Music] It is totally different compared to the cup noodle. Well, of course, you know, price is different, but a nice flavor of soy sauce. Loving them. Especially it’s not heavy. I mean, rich taste, not hot petty. So, it’s super easy to eat as well. [Music] How about the chum? [Music] I always love chu pork in the ramen room. Well, to be honest, if you pay about 900 Japanese yen, you can eat in the regular ramen restaurant, too. But here we are in the airport. So probably if this vending machine is in the regular place in the town, I wouldn’t use much. But since we are at the airport, it worth [Music] it. There are many different kinds of vending machine too. And also ah that’s a nice cold stone vending machine. Price is 500 Japanese yen. They have many different kinds of cold stone ice cream. Sweet. Oh, finally I could take the window seat. Sweet. Since I just booked the ticket this morning, I couldn’t find a window seat. However, with the ANF flight, there are so many cancellation before the flight. So, I can always check it and I just could find the window seat right now. And I can check in with the mobile app. Well, if you book the ticket in super area time, you can have discount. However, if that’s a several days ago, basically it doesn’t change and I know that there will be many cancellation with those Friday. So, that’s the reason why I just booked a ticket this morning because yesterday there were no availability but this morning I could find the availability. So that’s why I sleep in and right now I just find the seats available and I got a good seat. Travel tip. We still have 1 hour and 40 minutes before the flight. So let’s go check out the observatory deck. It’s in the upstairs. If you want to shop, there is a market plaza, too. Super high low. I love the view in the plaza. There is a restaurant area but those restaurant also it’s crowded. This hamburger steak restaurant that I have tried it before in the video. They have a nice hamburger steak and also you can have a nice view. Oh, here they have lunch pasta too. Interesting. Maybe we can try it in the future because we will visit this Hanada airport so many times in this year. Sweet. I always love a airplane. That’s so cool. I love the color of blue, too. Beautiful. Let’s go back to the airport. Well, it’s still 1 hour and 10 minutes before the flight, but let’s go to the security checkpoint. So, those are the international. Probably that’s not the way to go. This must be the way. Hold on. Uh the counter on the other side literally empty. Okay. So we got go back. But let’s go check up both side so that we can know the difference. Well, we still have time and we can use that info next time. So this is the gate and this is how many people over here. How about in the other side? So I assume that’s a security checkpoint over there. Uh a and a a premium checking. I guess that’s not the place. If we becomes the diamond level, we can check in without waiting. So this is the other side and the premium checking that way. So this is the regular check-in place. Yeah, seems like much fewer people compared to the other side. So if you don’t want to wait, probably you’d better use this side. It’s the gate number C. All right, so let’s enter. By the way, those are the carry-on baggage sides we can bring within 10 kilogram. I just have a backpack which is less than 10 kilo. So, should be okay. There were almost no people in the security checkpoint and also compared to the international flight much easier. So, it took like 5 minutes. It was pretty quick. Well, maybe less than 5 minutes. Our gate is number 56. So, we got to go all the way down. Wait. Number 47. 960 m far from here. So, sounds like we got to walk all the way down. But we have the travelator, so should be fine. So, this is how the terminal looks like and we are over here. The gate we use was here and the 56 is all the way down. So, we got get over here. By the way, those are the restaurant what we have here. Not as many as international place but uh I think good enough. Oh, Tal’s coffee over here and also souvenir shops. Oh, I didn’t know. We have a isetang in Haneda. Isetang is a big fancy department store in Japan. So number 56 this way here. Small Japanese lesson. Airport in Japanese. So if you want to ask where is the airport, you can ask good. Here there is a nice cafe and it seems like there’s a cafe in the third floor too. Oh, the seaside cafe. They sell the beer. 720 Japanese yen. That sounds like airport price. It’s just too early for maybe tonight. And the gate 56. Yeah, that must be the place. So, it’s 40 minutes before the departure. If you are using the domestic flight in Japan, most likely if you get to the airport before 1 hour departure time, you should be fine. So many airplane over there. All right, finally it’s the time. Well, there is no display. So I’m not sure it’s because we are using the air do air or ANA. We are using the ANA flight when we come back. So maybe we can check up. If we use the shinkansen it takes about 4 hours but if we use a plane it only takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. So it’s pretty fast. We don’t have a baggage to receive, so we can just skip here. Enjoy Hakodate city. Yes, we got to eat seafood. Welcome to Hakodate South Hokkaido. So there is no train from here. We need to take a bus and it seems like next bus is about 30 minutes from now. So, we got weighed. That’s a seah bowl shop. Price is about 1,00 to 1,500 Japanese yen. Also, hakodat ramen s shop. How about in the upstairs? So, that’s a departure gate. Also, the hakod, it’s the souvenir shop. We will check up here tomorrow when we are going back to Tokyo. Oh, the soup curry looks pretty good. Anyways, let’s go to the Hakod station. It’s almost nothing around here. Interesting. It’s a very peaceful town. It seems like no one is walking on the street though. Maybe everyone using the car. All right, finally we arrived to Hakodate station. So it cost 700 Japanese yen from the airport to the station. Sweet. Hakodate station. Finally we are here. There is something artistic in front of the station. In front of the station, there are so many hotels and also the bus stop, but our hotel is about 15 minutes walking from here. Yep. 5,000 Japanese yen, which is about $35, so no complaint. Let’s go check up inside the Hakod station. Huh. There is a middleinoi, the Shinkansen ticket office. Also 7-Eleven souvenir shop and a restaurant over there, I guess. Oh, actually that’s a souvenir shops. Oh, interesting. They made it in Ncoy plain cheese something. Looks yummy. Also, I Yes, seafoods are really popular in Hokkaido. Price is 1,944 Japanese yen. And yeah, this is one of the most popular souvenir from Hokkaido. Well, in Osaka, we have a fake oneto, but this is the real one. It’s Machoi, white chocolate cookie. Oh, interesting. They have a squid rice cracker. Price is 500 Japanese yen. How about in the second floor? There’s a ramen restaurants. How about the price? It’s about 1,250 Japanese yen. There is udong shop. Udong with squid tempora rice bowl 1,100 Japanese yen. And also coffee coin local over here too. The large one is 700 Japanese yen compared to Tokyo 200 Japanese and cheaper. Compared to Osaka 500 Japanese yen cheaper. So good job. Sweet. So we found the map. We are over here. The airport is all the way down over there. Today we will explore those bay area plus this observatory. This is one of the most popular spot in Hakodate. My hotel according to the internet locates around over here. Yeah, I think hotel global view hakodate. This is the one. Tomorrow we will explore this Goryokaku area. From here to there there is a bus but I think it’s walking distance for me. So let’s keep walking. Let’s go. According to the Google map, it’s about 30 minutes walking from here to the rope place for the observatory. Here there is a morning fish market which is one of the most popular morning market around Hakodate. We are getting there tomorrow morning. It should be around there since it’s a morning market already. Seems like all of the stores are closed. So, it must be all the way down to that mountain. It’s my second time to visit Hokkaido. There is a saying in Japanese, Hokkaido, meaning Hokkaido. It’s a huge place. And I agree. It’s very peaceful place too. Oh, and that’s a lucky pier. Huh? Everyone says if you visit, you got to try that lucky pier burger. Interesting. Maybe we can come back here later. By the way, crown in Japanese pier. Pier. So, a lucky crown. Lucky pier. And it seems like they have so many branches in the different places. And they have something special drink. Lucky parrot. I have no idea what it is, but why not? Let’s try. 160 Japanese yen. Huh? This is a hotel that I was thinking to stay. Seems like the location is pretty good and it’s a nice hotel, but the price cost double. It was 10,000 Japanese yen. Yes, the hotel I will stay was 5,000 Japanese yen, which include the breakfast, too. Yes. So, the price range is totally different. We’ll see. Oh my goodness. Smells pretty good from here. So, seems like that’s a restaurant street. Probably many people stay in the hotel coming over here to eat. I guess it’s very quiet. Well, travelers. Oh, that’s a classic past. From the top you can see a beautiful view of the sea. Many tourists come over here to take a photo. But uh I’m wondering where the tourists are. Interesting. There is a stairs and also the slope. Oh, there are more people over there. But seems like there are the students probably living around here. So, it’s almost the top. There are more people around there. Speaking of the temperature, it’s 18° compared to Tokyo. It’s much cooler, but it’s not as cold as I expected, though. by the way tired. But let’s keep walking. So that must be the top of the slope. Finally, we are here. Oh my goodness. That’s so beautiful. And we can see the town too. Sweet. So we are heading to the Mount Hakodate roadway station through the churches in Motoachi. Oh, I just realized that’s the high school top of the slope. So they were must be coming from here. Seems like it is a high school. If you go to that school, you have to walk up that slope every morning. Yeah, definitely. It’s good for health, especially for the students. So I recommend it. Loving it. Oh, so I guess those are the churches. So that’s a Russian Orthodox church. Interesting. But I’m not sure if we can enter or not. Oh, actually they are having service over there too in Russian. Interesting. There is another church too. And here there is another church, Hakodate Episcopal Church. Nice. They are having the service in this church too. Seems like it’s in Japanese. Beautiful atmosphere. Speaking of the Hokkaido, it is located in north part of Japan, very close to Russia. So there is some confliction between Japan and Russia. But at the same time, there’s a nice Russian culture in Hokkaido, too. So, I think that’s one of them. So, roway station must be around here. Ah, so must be over here. Yep, that must be the one going to all the way up. I’m afraid of the heights, but since it’s a big lo should be fine hopefully. So that must be the one. Oh yeah. So that’s the one. There is no lucky pier in Tokyo. They have 13 different kinds of black cheese. However, yes, only. So, if you visit Hakodate, maybe you can visit this place, especially if you love burger. One thing you have to be careful is that they usually close early. The other branch was already closed and this branch they closed at 9:00 p.m. However, around 8 something they only accepting the takeout. So I think I was lucky right on time. Yeah, probably if I waited for the bus I couldn’t make time. So right on time I believe they will take time to cook. So we just came back to the Hakod station. I thought this bus goes to the until the next stop, but seems like this one doesn’t go. So we can walk. It takes about 15 minutes from here to the hotel, I believe. So let’s keep walking to there. Oh, wait. That must be the one. We just missed it. Yeah. If we catch that bus, we could go to all the way down until the next stop. Hya. Well, only 15 minutes. So, it’s okay. Let’s keep walking. Seems like this is the main street. There is a street car truck and also there are many isakaya which is a drinking restaurant. Beside the street there is a park but uh it’s really quiet. Oh yeah, finally I see the hotel Hotel Glover View. So must be that one over there. Oh, there’s McDonald’s and also drugstore plus company over there. So pretty convenient, huh? So this must be the one. It says ten onen. I’m not sure if they have onen or not. Well, we’ll see. So, seems like it’s pretty ordinal business hotel. Seems like it looks pretty clean, huh? Looks pretty nice. Yeah, they have a reception of spa. So, they must have the onen over here. also a restaurant and a coin laundry game corner gallery too. Next to it there is microwave and also vending machine. So that must be the reception. Oh, actually looks pretty good. Oh, so actually that’s the main entrance. So this is the main entrance view. If you enter from the main entrance, I just came from the back street. That’s a reason why that looks pretty nice, too. $35 including breakfast and onsen. Really? So, in the morning, my leg will not get wet. How about in the bathroom? Oh, actually, it’s pretty clean. Oh, I see. No bus tub here, huh? There is a restroom, which is a shower toilet. And uh we have the Okay, here the shower room. How about the water pressure? Water pressure. Perfect. Let’s go check up the game corner, too. By the way, it’s out lock. So nice. All right. Oh, they have a premium tower, too. I guess that fancy stairs for the premium tower. It would cost more. I believe there’s small company inside the hotel. They close at 2:00 a.m. They have many different kinds of beer. The good thing they have the hakodat special view. Sweet. I will come back here to get one. Also small gallery plus. H I guess. So this is the onen entrance. So the onen size is as big as the lobby size. So it must be pretty big. So I guess that’s a breakfast place. And here is the game corner. Yep. We have a small game corner, too. And also the laundry space. Seems like that’s a nice breakfast place. I’m wondering, is it really including the breakfast? Let me check again before going back. Let me grab some beer. Okay, so those are the special beer. Let me see. So, let me get the hakod k. It’s fruity and also bitter, too. That sounds good. So, we got it. Price was 770 Japanese yen. Well, unfortunate news actually it is not included the breakfast. It is available with 2,200 Japanese. And that’s why it says well, but even without breakfast, I think it’s pretty good deal. So, speaking of the onen, there was a three big bathtub and outside there is a one outside bus which is pretty big. probably, you know, 10 people can enter. I don’t want to enter with 10 people though. I mean, if it’s in the crowd season could be, you know, the speaking of the size and also the steam room too. Thinking about 5,000 Japanese yen including that onen, I think it’s pretty good. Well, unfortunately, the breakfast wasn’t included, but thinking about the price and the quality, definitely I recommend it. It’s a global view hotel. Yeah, you have to walk a little bit from that Hakodate station, but you know, if you don’t mind to walk or if you don’t mind to take taxi or bus, then yeah, this is a great way to save money. So, tonight I got a sleep ar and tomorrow morning we are visiting the asaii which is the morning market. Hokkaido is very popular for the seafood and there are so many seafood selling over there. As you see, not that many travelers were here today. So probably that morning fish market is not that crowded neater. So hopefully we can find a good food over there. Well, am I buying a breakfast over here with 2,200 Japanese yen? Uh probably not because it cost about half price of staying here. So maybe next time we can try.
