Osaka is the venue for the latest World Expo taking place from 13th April until 13th October 2025. Over 150 countries and organisations have come together at Expo 2025 to present their ideas and innovations for a better future, reflecting the slogan “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. Around 28 million people are expected to visit the impressive Expo site on the artificial island of Yumeshima.

Wa! Germany – The German Pavilion

Germany is among the countries taking part in the Expo – with a national pavilion entitled “Wa! Germany” showcasing the vision of a responsible, united and sustainable society. “Wa”, meaning ‘circle’, ‘harmony’ and ‘wow’ in Japanese, represents the interplay of people, nature and technology – and the idea of working together to design a future worth living.

Porcelain “Made in Germany”

As a partner of 78degrees, the official restaurant and shop operator of the German Pavilion, Villeroy & Boch is supplying the dining area with high-quality porcelain. Made from Premium Bone Porcelain, the elegant Stella collection was designed specially for Expo 2025 as a Custom Made Solution (CMS). Each piece bears the official logo of the German pavilion, including a little tribute to the theme of the Expo with every meal.

Produced and decorated in the factories in Merzig und Torgau, the porcelain epitomises the very highest ‘made in Germany’ quality and precision – values that Villeroy & Boch has characterised from the very beginning.

Design as a bridge to the future

With its contribution at Expo 2025, Villeroy & Boch is showing how design maintains traditions while at the same time forging new paths. This vision comes to life in the German pavilion: a place for encounters and new ideas – and perhaps even new perspectives on the way we will live together tomorrow.
