Rated the most popular onsen among foreign travelers who visit Japan, Tsuru no yu sure doesn’t disappoint! With the multiple baths it boasts, warm and comfortable tatami rooms, traditional meals made with local ingredients, and a rustic beauty, it’s no surprise that this onsen is popular among locals, too.
This onsen is perhaps most famous for its mixed bath and while I was really nervous to try it at first, the experience was really a comfortable one because the onsen staff have clearly considered the privacy of us ladies! Women enter the mixed bath from the side through a sheltered pathway and considering the milky white bath water, I was totally at ease throughout! 10/10 will recommend! (:
