Conveniently located Kurokawa goes back around 300 years to the Edo period when feudal lords and other travelers stopped to use these onsens (Japanese hot spring baths) along their journey. Most of the Royokan, and Minshoku are built along the Chikugo River, obviously heated by geothermal action.

Kurokawa is a small town and all sights can be seen in one hour or less but visitors come for a hot spring experience.
