Narai-Juku – must visit in Japan
we’re on the train going to naruku the little Samurai Village we will be stopping at our station we just caught the train from Matsumoto to naray Juku which is a tiny little town on the nenko trail um between Kyoto and Tokyo uh it’s meant to be one of the most well preserved little Ido towns um so I’m so excited to check it out the train from Matsumoto to narai cost 590 and took just over an hour it was very easy and comfortable so we’re here we’re excited this is the train station we’ve just topped off a lovely man’s given us a map in English and we’re going to go for a stroll through one of the oldest well preserved little towns in Japan [Music] this is the 1 kilm Long Street of uh naruku and it is beautifully preserved the buildings are stunning they are all very Brown as is of the time so they’re made of wood and it is just the most beautiful authentic and traditional experience [Music] nay is an amazing town for artisanal crafts and um a lot of it is still sold in the little local shops along here you’ll find locally made Chopsticks Lac aware Lac aware is something they’re really well known for and it’s in a lot of the shops that we’re going through here it’s beautiful [Music] we’ve walked all the way through the village of Nay and we’re at the top end now we’ve come to the sh shum Ginger Shrine and it’s right here behind me it’s a really nice to stop before you head on up and we’re going to start to walk a little bit along the um Tory pass and uh just have a little look at the [Music] Landscapes this is the start of the nenco trail and it’s the trail that leads um from narai all the way down to Kyoto actually it starts in Tokyo it leads all the way down to Kyoto and uh has been used for absolute Centuries by Samurai and people trading between all of the towns this is what the Edo period was about and um It’s a Long Forest path from here on in and it gets a little bit steep it’s 2.3 km to the next town um or 1.2 down to the train station so one of the things that uh naria area is really well known for is um gisha combes and this is one of the old um wholesalers that used to make them it’s the Nakamura Family Residence or the former Nakamura Family Residence and you can go inside for 300 Yen and have a look around the oldc wholesalers and uh see some of the old comes and see the old property [Music] we’ve come back to the station to leave narai and it turns out we missed the Train by 20 minutes uh so M slow poking around the town looking at things really didn’t pay off um but now Mike’s sinking instead of waiting an hour and a half or 2 hours nearly for the train we walk a half an hour up to the next town called kisu Hara I think it’s pronounced um which is also really well known for creating our artisian products here in Japan um have a look there and by the time we get there it’s probably time to get the train from there so we’re going to go and have an adventure all right we have walked from norai to kissu and and we’re about to enter the town it’s actually not a hard walk it’s maybe 1.5k I think 2K sorry 2K but it’s pretty flat it’s by beautiful River you’ve got all the autumn colors in the forest surroundings it’s nice and we’re about to into kissu which is really well known for making laer products back in the early days um have a little Look Around by then the train will come so when you come to norai make sure you check the time the train is leaving [Music] walking down the streets with tumble weeds swolling it’s a quiet time we think it must be a public [Music] holiday but they are the very very expensive ones K more artian rather than generally produced thanks so much for watching please like And subscribe subbe to our Channel it really helps to
In this episode we take a day trip to Narai-Juku. I was so excited to see this little town, one of the best preserved in Japan. It was the thirty-fourth of sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendō Trail. It’s so charming, we fell completely in love with it!

17 seconds into the video. Nasenko trail? Passport nomads?
These names have meaning. Have the respect to at least memorize the name for god's sake. Four syllables na ka sen do. Not being rude, its rude to be careless when visiting other people's countries.
