大阪・関西万博 – イタリア館
I entered the Italian Pavilion. After waiting a little at the entrance to the building, the first video I watched inside the building was the one that showed the relationship between Italy and Japan. Leonardo da Vinci and the Farnese Atlas. Famous places all over Italy. A wide range of videos were shown introducing Italian art, history, nature, cutting-edge technology, etc. This marble statue is the Farnese Atlas. It depicts the Greek god Atlas carrying a celestial globe on his shoulders. It is said to have been created in ancient Rome around 150 AD, and is about 2 meters tall and weighs about 2 tons. This is Caravaggio’s painting “The Burial of Christ.” Ferrari brakes, tires, and suspensions are on display here. These seem to be the torches that will be lit by the Olympic torch for the Milan-Cortina Olympics to be held in 2026. Thank you for watching.
