Welcome to The Bazaar Itinerary, where the world’s most stylish people give us insights, information, and insider recommendations on where to go, stay, eat, shop, and play in their favorite destinations around the globe.
Cat Street in Harajuku is a great walking and shopping street. Shibuya Crossing and Roppongi are also pretty lively. Hoshinoya is a great ryokan in Ginza. Going to the Park Hyatt to eat dinner and enjoy jazz is also iconic. I love The Tokyo Museum and the Mori Art Museum. The best place to unwind is the spa and pool the Aman.
Cafe L’Ambre in Ginza is a beautiful, old coffee shop where you sit and drink the strongest, most delicious pour of coffee. No to-go! Breakfast Club in Nakameguro or Bill’s in Ginza are also great. Some other favorites: Brown Rice for yummy, comforting vegan food in Omotesando; Senshin in Higashiazabu for incredible omakase; Narukiyo is such a fun izakaya; Bar Martha for the amazing vinyl and great cocktails.
There are so many places I love to shop. Daikanyama T-Site in Tokyo is a giant bookstore complex. I can get lost/inspired for hours. There is a beautiful bar on the top level made of books. I love Shimokitizawa and Shibuya for vintage. Isetan has things by great Japanese designers you can’t find anywhere else, and RagTag is amazing for designer consignment stuff. And then Biotop for gifts and Eatrip for home goods and kitchen essentials.
Shirokane Ceramic Art School in Tokyo is a beautiful little studio where you can sit at the wheel with patient teachers to help. I’m not great at it, but it’s a wonderful way to get out of my head and be present. I also love taking a day trip to Hakone to an onsen or to Mount Fuji.
