So, what did you think? Had you heard of any of those places before? All right, thanks for waiting. It’s time for Raina’s top five deep saka [Music] spots. Let’s kick things off with number five. Coming in at number five, we’ve got Kaioshima Station in Naagawa. Now, this isn’t just any station. There’s a massive tree growing right through the platform. This giant camper tree is over 700 years old and was here long before the station was even built. Instead of cutting it down, they decided to build the station around it. It’s even recognized as a natural monument by Osaka Prefecture. How cool is that? Moving on to number four, the Mishima Sludge Center. Okay, hear me out. I know it looks like a theme park. Some people even mistake it for USJ or the aquarium, but it’s actually a sewage treatment facility. The quirky, colorful design makes it look like a piece of modern art. And that tall blue tower, yep, that’s a smoke stack. It’s run by Osaka’s Bureau of Construction, but it’s one of the wildest looking buildings in the city. Next up at number three is San Marble Beach in Sanan City. This spot is seriously romantic. The beach is completely covered in white marble stones, and the contrast with the blue sky and ocean is just stunning. You can watch planes take off and land at Kai International Airport right across the water. And the sunsets here are so beautiful, it’s actually been named one of Japan’s top 100 sunset spots. It’s also officially recognized as a lover sanctuary, the first in Osaka. Coming in at number two, Sanrioa embankment in Toyanaka. This one is for the aviation lovers. Planes fly right over your head as they’re about to land, and the embankment is super close to the runway. Since there are no tall buildings around, it’s the perfect place to capture that dream shot of a plane against the open sky. And when they fly overhead, you can literally feel the roar and the wind. It’s absolutely [Music] thrilling. And finally, the number one spot on my Tiposaka list is Namba Yusaka Shrine. This shrine will blow your mind. The main feature is a gigantic lion head structure 12 m tall and 11 m wide. It’s said to swallow evil spirits with its huge open mouth and bring you good luck. It’s so iconic that it’s even more famous than the main shrine building itself and tens of visitors come from all over the world just to see it. So, what did you think? If you’re from Osaka, you might already know some of these, but even many Japanese people from other regions have never heard of them. And if you’re a foreign traveler, visit these spots and you’ll be a total Osaka insider in no time.
