Japan Vlog🇯🇵再発見した日本の魅力|富士山と温泉に癒された静岡旅🍵🍃
Hello☺️ This VLOG is from a trip to Shizuoka during my visit back to Japan🍃 Living abroad, the scenery and air in Japan feel extra special,
and I naturally find myself drawn to all things *wa* (Japanese style). In Shizuoka, I got to fully enjoy that quintessential Japanese atmosphere🍃 A quick 2-day, 1-night trip in Shizuoka begins!
First thing I wanted to do after returning was visit an onsen♨️
(Though Japan is already close to summer now, this trip was during the colder season…⛄️) This time, I only booked the accommodation and decided to go with the flow for the rest of the trip🍃 Highway rest stops in Japan are next-level — packed with great food, souvenirs, and fun vibes! Ebina Service Area is one of the most popular and well-equipped service areas in Japan! Even if I don’t need anything or I’m not hungry, I’m always ready to browse and buy something🚶♂️ haha So many sweet and savory temptations everywhere After much indecision, I gave in to some karaage (fried chicken)😂 There were so many flavors, all of them looked amazing… Smells so good…🤤 Even just spotting a new vending machine makes me stop out of excitement😂 I tend to grab something I haven’t seen before👀 haha (It had a strong, pleasant bitterness and was delicious🍵) Needless to say, the hot karaage was delicious! Pure happiness We’ve arrived at a roadside station in Izu! This place is part of a well-known sushi chain based mainly in Shizuoka.
They’re known for offering fresh, generously sized sushi at reasonable prices,
thanks to their access to auctions at Numazu Fish Market. At first, I was planning to go to “Sawayaka,” a hamburger steak spot famous in Shizuoka— —but my assumption that a weekday afternoon would be fine was way off… it was a 2-hour wait, so I gave up😂 No matter how many years go by, the crowds there are incredible! So I switched my cravings from meat to fish🙂↕️🐟 The sushi was just as big and beautiful as the reviews said! In Japan, even the smallest playful details are so delightful (For some reason, I started folding this *after* the food arrived… haha) Finished🗻♡ Let’s eat😋 Even though I can get decent sashimi in Thailand🇹🇭, where I live now, I really appreciate how affordable and delicious seafood is in Japan—it’s something truly special I was so hungry from our late lunch that I couldn’t stop eating🫠 There was a wasabi museum right next door, so we decided to pop in! I’d love to bring home some tasty wasabi souvenirs☺️ Japanese wasabi is known worldwide for its high quality and production volume Shizuoka, along with Nagano, is one of Japan’s top two production regions, accounting for over 90% of the country’s wasabi I think this might be the first time I’ve seen real wasabi up close👀 This place recreates a tatami-stone-style wasabi field indoors,
and it’s the first facility in Japan where you can view wasabi cultivation this closely The water was incredibly clear🥹 and the leaves looked so firm, almost like they were fake🌱 A special grater for real wasabi Looking closely, all the bumps are shaped like little wasabi roots😳 I wanted to try real, fresh wasabi—not the kind in tubes—but I knew I wouldn’t finish it all… No doubt it’s delicious!
I love wasabi itself, but also really enjoy wasabi-flavored seasonings and snacks Japan is full of clever products—not just food—which makes browsing for souvenirs so much fun I bought this for myself, and it turned out to be really tasty!
I think it’d go great with salad, meat, or anything really What was meant to be a quick stop turned into a full-on fun experience There were lots of autographs on display too—it’s clearly been featured on many shows😊 Back at the roadside station for a bit more exploring🤏 More wasabi products here! Wasabi ochazuke (rice with green tea) tastes great,
and this packaging would make a nice gift too Also picked up some delicious Japanese tea for souvenirs🍵🍃 I usually drink coffee or black tea,
but a warm cup of green tea every now and then is so soothing☺️🍵 I’d been eyeing this dairy store selling Tanna milk since we arrived Tempted by the soft serve, but it was too cold—so I went with hot chocolate First, you get the hot milk Then pour in the chocolate from the tap The rich milk and mildly sweet cocoa flavor were amazing It really warmed me up and made me feel so happy☺️ For this trip, I stayed at a long-standing onsen ryokan called Sanyoso in Izu-Nagaoka, Shizuoka🌿 Since I was back in Japan, I decided to stay at a traditional ryokan instead of a hotel,
to fully enjoy the Japanese atmosphere Check-in was done in the room The staff were so kind and attentive the entire time—it was truly a comfortable stay☺️ They welcomed us with matcha and manju (sweet buns)🍵 Right from check-in, I felt so relaxed by the warm hospitality☺️ The room had a calm and serene Japanese design Each room has its own private onsen—absolutely amazing…! The inn’s architecture combines traditional sukiya-style design with modern comfort, creating a soothing Japanese atmosphere The view from the window was also beautifully Japanese and calming After soaking in the onsen, it was time for a much-anticipated dinner We ended up ordering a celebratory drink, which felt more like a party than expected🥂 haha The kaiseki course, filled with local seasonal ingredients, was incredibly delicious✨ It was a beautiful, sunny morning! A morning soak in the onsen followed by breakfast at the ryokan—what a perfect way to start the day🌱 The view from the breakfast room was also lovely 😋💯 After breakfast, we took a short stroll through the garden The 3,000-tsubo (approx. 10,000 m²) Japanese garden was designed by famed Kyoto gardener Jihei Ogawa It was filled with seasonal flowers, creating a space where you could truly feel the beauty of all four seasons I was able to fully immerse myself in the beauty of Japan—what a soul-refreshing stay☺️ As much as I didn’t want to leave the lovely ryokan, it’s time to head to our next destination. Even this simple countryside view feels special once you’re leaving it behind. The sky was so clear today, and we could see Mt. Fuji perfectly! The snow-capped view of Mt. Fuji is exactly what you imagine—absolutely stunning. Now that I think about it, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Mt. Fuji so clearly during this season. Whenever I see Mt. Fuji looking so beautiful, my heart feels light and I’m filled with awe. There’s something very Japanese and quietly powerful about this presence… it really feels energizing. We arrived at Mishima Taisha⛩️
This is a historic shrine that has been worshipped as the primary shrine of the Izu Province for centuries. I imagine this walkway must be breathtaking during cherry blossom season. The winter scenery feels a little bare, but the crisp air is incredibly refreshing. (It goes without saying,) the cold really wakes you up 😳 One of the reasons I came here was to do a yakuyoke purification ritual…! I didn’t do it the last time, so this was my first time. It was also my first time wearing the white purification robes for the ceremony. I hope this will protect me from misfortune and bring peace and calm to my days…! The sky was cloudless, and I felt like my mind had cleared too. I decided to get an omamori charm too 😊 I never used to think much about them, but omamori are really beautifully made ✨ And while I’m here, let’s draw an omikuji fortune! A small blessing! 🥹 (A bit hard to react to, haha) Just walking through these beautifully designed traditional structures makes me feel like my heart is clearing up a bit. I spotted a lucky rice cake called “Fukutaro” at a shop in the shrine and felt drawn to it 😋 It came with tea for only 250 yen! Not only affordable but also very delicious! I saw a Chiikawa character figure at the shop 🥹🩵 It was so cute, I regret not buying it 🥹 Next up, we’re at Mishima Skywalk—a 400-meter suspension bridge with a view of Mt. Fuji! The view is already amazing 🗻✨ This is definitely a great photo spot 😊📸 Let’s go ahead and cross the bridge. So glad we got such great weather! We could see Mt. Fuji, the town of Izu, and even a glimpse of the ocean in the distance. The zipline looked fun, but my fear won over the excitement so I didn’t try it 😂 But it looked super exhilarating~~~ There was a fun-looking area on the other side too. We decided to visit the owl sanctuary for some healing 🦉♡ I thought, “When do you ever get to interact with owls?” so we went in. At first I couldn’t tell if they were real or just plushies—they were all real owls 😳 You pet them gently with the back of your hand ☺️ So cute 🥹 They all sat still so quietly and obediently. Their intense gaze was just adorable 🥹 haha This one looked just like Hedwig! Her name was Kou-chan 😊 It was such a treat to meet and interact with so many different kinds of owls for the first time 🥹🤍 They were all so fluffy… This one looked like it was smiling, and it was just too cute 😊 Thanks for the healing! ♩ One more unforgettable experience I couldn’t have had in everyday life! Before heading off again, we made a little detour 🤏 Local veggies and fruits sold at markets like these are always so delicious 🍊 And the croquettes from the little shop next door were absolutely delicious too…! The main purpose of the trip was the hot springs, but honestly, every place we visited ended up being more fun than I expected. Our final stop is some shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets. Last time I came, I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji this clearly, so this visit really made me appreciate the location. Even though most shops still had winter clothes, I managed to find some summer clothes I can wear in Thailand 🤍 I also grabbed some snacks for the road home. ♡ There’s always a bittersweet feeling during the quiet ride home after a trip 🥺 To chase those feelings away—delicious yakiniku after arriving home! 🤣 It’s become a little tradition to enjoy good yakiniku whenever I come back to Japan lately.
