Everything I Ate In Tokyo, Japan (best of the best)

In this video, I’m taking you through every single thing that I ate while I was in Tokyo, Japan. Oh my gosh, so flavorful. From the quick snacks, the 7-Eleven to the truly unforgettable meals. I’m going to show you exactly what I ordered and what you need to try when you’re in Japan. Are you the chef? Yeah. Secret department store with a bunch of Japanese goods. I bought more snacks. This is just the first video in my Japan series where I’m going to be exploring this all inspiring country for a whole week. This is heaven. No other word. Plus, I do run into a few unexpected surprises. Our waitress chases out of the restaurant. You okay? If you’re new here, my name is Maddie and I make videos to show people what can happen when you get out and go within. By getting out of our comfort zone, we are catapulted within towards self exploration and transformation through physical challenges like running a marathon. I did I’m so happy or meditating in ice water. Living out of my truck while driving across the entire country alone. There are bears out with cubs. I’m sharing the real raw journey of what happens when you trade certainty for curiosity. This week, I’m thousands of miles away from my comfort zone. And as someone who has done a fair amount of traveling, nothing could have prepared me for [Music] Tokyo. We made it to Tokyo. We’re in Shabuya. It is the hottest I’ve ever been. Yeah, it’s pretty brutal. It’s really brutal, but it’s okay. We are going to go explore and see what kind of trouble we can get into before we check into our hotel. [Music] [Applause] They have cheese inside and I’ve seen them everywhere. Whoa. You love it. Sweeter than I thought. Really? It’s sweet, but it has cheese in it. First snack in Tokyo. [Music] Okay, so we’re about to have our very first ramen. We We ordered um what we wanted in a vending machine. We came in, they were so sweet. Right when I walked in, the chef, like I said, two lettuce over here, which is like really nice and first time trying ramen in Tokyo. I’m literally beyond excited. I can’t even explain myself. I’m loving everything so far. This is Is it going? This is absolutely so huge. I didn’t even know they made bowls. It’s this big, but it’s first ramen. I got the egg and pork belly. And then I added scallions. And it comes with dumplings, too. I got the kimchi one. I’m very excited. Hopefully, it’s not too spicy. I’m just going to try the broth really quick. Oh my gosh. So flavorful. Oh, I’m excited. Okay, time to eat. I tried. I tried to eat as much as I possibly could. That was the biggest bowl I’ve ever seen. I wonder if all the ramen bowls are this big. I guess we’ll find out. [Music] Got it. Thank you. Tangulu. What’ you say? I’m going to buy Tonulu. What’s Tonulu? It’s the fruit that has the like sugar coating on it. Yay. I love this place already. Right when I walked in, I felt a burst of air conditioning and that was everything. That’s all we need. Ponghulu is this fruit that’s dipped into sugar that’s at a certain temperature and it creates like this glass-like effect on the outside. So when you bite into it, it’s like really crunchy. I’m worried my mouth is going to get ripped up. So yet again, you bite it, take it out of the little vending machine, and then pick it up over there. Very efficient, I will say. What do you think? It’s better than I imagined. Really? It’s not cutting my mouth as much as I thought. It’s like sticking to my teeth, too. Oh, wow. It’s really sticking. It’s good though. That’s a fresh good strawberry. [Music] Okay, this is crazy. We’re in this place where we’re cooking our own meat in this broth it looks like. And there’s a whole bunch of different appetizers. There’s like spicy pickles. It looks really good and it smells really good. You let it cook like you just drop it in. Oh my god. They just kept bringing us more and more food. They brought us three plates of Wagu beef. Insane amount of vegetables and they just dumped it all in the broth. And then they brought us yummy and yummy appetizer. And they just brought us noodles, rice, and an egg. This is such a cool experience. I love it. So yummy. Best some of the best meat I’ve ever had in panu sauce. I just All so good. And cloves of garlic, tomatoes. Oh my gosh. I just had something really special. Shoot. Shoot. Now that one’s boiling. I don’t know what I’m doing. We did really good for only having two people. That was heaven. That was an experience. [Music] Okay, so we are in a revolving sushi place in Tokyo and it is so incredible. Been very confusing to figure out how to do it. Um cuz there’s a very specific way to do it. So, there’s these little sheets that you look at what you want and you write down the number of the item that corresponds to a little pamphlet with pictures of the sushi and what it is and then you write how many you want. You write if you want wasabi on it. It’s a pretty good system. Then they bring it to you. You can also get stuff off the conveyor belt. I’m going to get little green tea and I also got a little orange juice, tons of water, and they also have a little station at the table to make matcha green tea. That’s the hot water to make matcha. This is just a very incredible experience and the sushi is already so good. Sam, it’s good. No, there was wasabi in there. Did you cook? Okay, it passed. It passed. Did you click the wasabi? But no. Uh-oh. Wait, there’s wasabi on all of them. I think I think I was supposed to X if there if I wanted no wasabi. Okay, so it was really good, but it was really spicy. It’s because we accidentally ordered them all with wasabi cuz we forgot to click the X. They’re all going to be spicy, but it’s not that spicy. Like, it’s spicy if the shock is spicy, but then it wears off really quick. So, I heard that Japanese fried chicken is just on another level. So, normally I would not order fried chicken at a sushi restaurant, but we’re going to try it. You love it? M. This is like super high quality chicken. Very lightly battered, crispy. I think I think I over Oh god. Pancake with red bean paste. I’m obsessed with it. It’s just what I wanted. It was my favorite texture and I love the flavor. Sweet pancake. But then we got the red bean paste. Love it. I opened this up and there’s a little ice pack on top to keep it cold. Okay, so I thought this was a little ice pack. It turns out it’s chocolate to pour on the matcha. So, I’m going to pour it on. There we go. That’s what I’m talking about. Take three. It’s not chocolate. It’s syrup. It tastes like maple syrup. Yeah. It is maple syrup. Oh my god, it smells so good. I’ve never heard of that combo. That This is literally right up my alley. I love Japan. And literally, I’m so hot that I um but I I’m so hot that I thought it was a life hack, so I put it down my shirt to keep cool. And then I realized it was what I thought was chocolate, but it’s actually maple syrup. [Music] [Applause] Okay, we are about to try tayaki, which is like a fish looking thing. It’s not fish. It’s a pastry with either a sweet potato inside or custard red bean paste. I don’t know if I’m going to get smooth sweet bean paste with chestnut or red bean paste or sweet potato. That’s a hard choice. Probably red bean though. That’s my favorite. [Music] Story time. A little bit of story time. So, we arrive in this little neighborhood of Tokyo. We come into this little alley and then I’m just kind of like observing. We see this like area downstairs with no English. And then I see these people go down there and then I just had this feeling to follow them. And so, we follow them and wait. And then we end up eating here. And it was very good. For me personally, it was like the best meal. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. When I tasted a bite of this beef cutlet that we got to cook, we cooked by oursel at the table. I was mind blown. It was so good. It was so tender. And you can cook it to your liking, which is amazing. [Music] Hey, are you the chef? Yeah, I’m the chef. Oh, you’re the chef of this place. So good. Bye. Oh my gosh. And we just coming to see us. I think so. A chef just came out to see us and we got a picture of him. What a fun experience. That was so fun. Wow. This is the place, guys. Come here. Place. Come here. We read on a blog that there is like a kind of secret department store with a bunch of Japanese goods in between two of the stations. And so we just found Oiara station. And so we’re walking along in between this station and the other station to see if we can find the department store. So many vending machines. That’s what I heard about in Japan and now we’re experiencing it. If you’re ever thirsty, there’s always something. Oh my gosh. We found it. Oh, cool. Oh, want to go in? Yep. Okay. It says there’s like traditional Japanese goods and it already feels like that’s the case. Yeah. This place is so authentic. And I know that because literally nothing is in English. I don’t even know what this is. There’s no English words to be found. But I absolutely love that I found a gift for my dad. So apparently this is called the Nepon Department Store and it’s like a theme park of exciting food discoveries and it has products from all 47 prefectures of Japan. The concept of this department store is to discover and uniquely curate specialty products from all 47 prefectures across Japan. What do you think that is? I feel like it’s milk candy, but like what? I can’t wait to try it. It’s hard. very weird looking snack um that I’m going to get for me and Freddy to try. I have no idea what it is. It’s definitely some sort of living thing. Maybe an eel. I’m not sure. But this is what it is. Look what I’m getting. This is Kobe beef. It is one of the highest grades meats. I think it’s a category five. It’s so good. It like melts in your mouth. So tender. I don’t even know what to say about it. So it’s freaking fantastic. So much flavor. So tender. I’ve never tasted meat like that. Absolutely flabbergasted. [Music] We are in this cute little like Japanese hole in the wall placey. It’s called Yeah. So we basically just got little Japanese tapas. It’s kind of what they had. Little plates of yummy samplings. Last thing we got was mochi ice cream and it’s amazing. I’ve heard about these sandwiches, bread sandwiches with cream and fruit in them, and I’ve been dying to try them. Here we go. Wo, that is so unique. All the different textures together are so interesting. Wow. Yum. We’re back at Donkey. I brought more snacks and an aluminum suitcase. My dream suitcase. Good job. Did you just bark?
