Top Things to Do in Osaka π―π΅ | Nara Day Trip, Dotonbori & Izakaya Toyo
Good morning from a new city. We are now in Osaka. Yo, are you ready for this? Are you ready for this? Are you ready for this? Are [Music] you Are you ready for this? Are you ready? Are you ready for this? I run the place. I run the space. I run the scene that you face. So, we are now in Osaka and this city is known as the kitchen of the nation. It’s renowned for its food, night life, and fun. And the motto for here is Kuya Dor, which means eat yourself broke. And that’s exactly what we plan to do. Good morning. So, we are off to Nara Park to see the famous bowing deer. They’re going to bow to us to get food. We just took like an hour journey from the center of Aaka. Pretty easy. Couple of tubes. Everything runs here [Music] seamlessly. One more time. Good. He’s a whiplash. [Music] So, first impressions, well, first hour impressions of N. It’s really beautiful here. Even without the deer here, which is obviously a big draw, it would be stunning to walk around. We’ve seen a couple of smaller shrines. We’re just heading up to one of the larger shrines at the moment. Lots lots of deer. Be not be wary cuz they’re harmless, but um they will they’ll want your crackers, so they will give you a few nips of the coat. So, don’t wear anything too fragile or too light. One, two. Oh, you’re nice looking. Got anything. I ain’t got nothing, mate. Okay, so we’ve got to the northern part of the park and we’ve come to Casa Gaitacia Shrine, which I think is the main shrine. It’s pretty big here. Beautiful. We’ve been chased and bitten by a few deer on the way, but we’ve met some friendly ones. [Music] So, I’ve just paid 700 yen to come into the kind of worship area here. And this shrine is famous for these 300 incredible gold and blue lamps that you can see behind me. And I’ve just been super lucky because I’ve just walked in and there’s a Buddhist wedding going on. Uh, which was pretty cool to watch. [Music] She’s not bothered at all. So after feeding and getting bitten by loads of deers, we have come down to the TI temple. It’s absolutely packed and this measurably going to be our last spot in Nala. [Music] So today in Asaka we are heading first up to Isizakaya Toyo. Opens at midday. And this isakaya which is one of the restaurants here is famous for being on Netflix. It was part of the watch food series. And apparently the owner is super energetic, pretty crazy, does all of the classic Japanese dishes. So we’re going to head there. We’ve been told that it could be an hour’s queue, but it is well worth it. So we are very excited to go and see Toyo, the real man, in real life. [Music] What’s happening? Look at the toy. The guy that owns the place is dipping his hands in ice and then like rubbing I think eel with this flamethrower which we’ve now got some ill. Here we go. Uh so he’s like mixing all setting his hands on fire, dipping it in the ice, making funny noises. This is [Music] crazy. All right. So, first big stop today. We are at the Asaka Castle. It is absolutely beautiful and we are about to climb and I’m pointing to it up here. Guys, we’re up at the top of Asaka Castle. Check out this [Music] view. So guys, a secret tip. If you’re going to visit Osaka Castle, make sure you head up to the Bluebird Rooftop Cafe. It’s got stunning views of the castle itself, and you can enjoy a drink at [Music] sunset. What floor we on? 33. Let’s go see our room. So, we just checked into the Four Seasons in Osaka, and we are about to see our room for the very first time. Wa! Wow! This is so nice. Oh jeez. This is Oh, wow. Lovely. Look at that. [Music] So, we’ve just checked in at the Four Seasons in Aaka. Come and check out our room for night one. We’ve got the deluxe double. Absolutely incredible. Super modern. We’ve got a massive bath which which Liv is about to have. And then we’ve got the huge room. But far on the show is this crazy view. We’ll show you some clips of that in a sec. Absolutely crazy. But absolutely love it. We’re only in here one night cuz tomorrow we’re checking into an even better room which we will show you when we get there. We can actually see the castle in the distance. Purple. And what is even more crazy, we were just doing some shoots of this blind going up and down and then in the sky appeared this big orange thing and we didn’t know what it was. And it turned out that there was a lunar eclipse tonight and it lasted like 5 minutes and we’ve just seen it over the city which was just insane. So, we have just discovered that these doors slide and we’ve realized we now can’t find the toilet. Where is the toilet? Is that a door? I feel like I’m in Harry Potter. Maybe there’s not a toilet. There’s got to be a toilet. I mean, there’s a door here. Oh. Ah, hidden door. Ah, [Music] hello my friend. There we go. Wow. [Applause] [Music] So, we’ve just come for our very first breakfast at the Four Seasons in the Jardine restaurant. Coffee so far is fantastic. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Um, and I’m excited for my food. [Music] So, we’ve been on a mission to find the fluffiest pancakes in Saka. We have landed in a place called a Happy Pancake. We’ve got many of these across Aaka, and we’re we’re going to find out if it is in fact the funniest [Music] pancake. Stick it. That is [Music] fluffy. We’ve come down to the Namba Yosaka Ginger Shrine, which has this incredible like dragon head. It’s really, really busy, but this is really, really cool. [Music] So, we are back at Cap Four Seasons and we are having an afternoon tea. It’s kind of an English style afternoon tea. We’ve got savory, we’ve got sweets, we’ve got uh scones, strawberry and cream. We’ve just started and the creme brulee is incredible. Yeah, that is so good. Right, so Liv’s going for the black truffle aranchchini ball. [Music] Wow, we are big truffle fans. That’s insane. That should be illegal. That’s so good. Your eyes are suggesting it is straight. And I just found out this is Louis’s first ever afternoon tea. Might be the last. Look at this little dude. He is like an absolute piece of art. He’s got even got a little gold leaf on top of him. He is beautiful. Now he’s going to be demolished. This is the strawberry afternoon tea, by the way. And it’s all strawberry themed. And I love strawberries. Um that’s all great. It’s my [Music] time. So, we have come to the 36th floor to check out the pool here, and it is just absolutely insane. And the view behind us is just out of this world. This is arguably the best pool we have ever been to. In fact, it is the best pool we’ve ever been to. Look how empty it [Music] is. Okay, so we’ve now moved rooms at the Four Seasons and we’re in a much more traditional Japanese style room. This bedroom though is insane. These are I swear these are the best views over Asaka. We’ve got a curved room and we’ve just got panoramic 360 views everywhere you look. Got traditional tatami mat on the floor and a sunken bed. And really, it’s just super simple but absolutely breathtaking in here. And then round this little corner, we’ve got our bathroom. So, we’ve got similar stuff to last time. Bath, shower, wardrobe space here. And the bath is all like kind of a traditional style Japanese like you see in the onsons as well. So, we are now on the famous food street called Don Bury, and we’re going to see what weird, wonderful, and wacky food we can find. What we got? So, we have got the secret miso dumplings. Louis has already had some. He confirms they’re great. Time for me to try Good, aren’t they? Good start. Nine out of 10. We’ve now got a traditional taco yaki, which is essentially battered octopus. Try it now. [Music] Good. That is really good. [Music] Very good. Another winner. Seven out of 10. [Music] What are you having? So, we’re now getting something called king crab, which is like crab on a stick and now they’ve just chucked it up. So, really nice. So, this is king crab battered with mayo then basically set on fire. I’m not the biggest fan. I’m giving it a five out of 10. Okay. So, it’s a bit of a grow up. I’m starting to really like it. Uh, so we’re now at 6.5 out of 10. Okay. So, we’ve now got a shrimp tempura roll. That’s That was good. I give it a 6.5. We can’t. We have got a strawberry and vanilla soft serve. And the ice cream in Japan is just crazy good. 8 out of 10. I’ve now got the melon pan with ice cream in the middle like a sandwich. It’s very good. N out of 10. [Music] [Music] So, we’re back on the famous Don Puri Street to try some more epic food. So, we’ve just come back to the Yoza place and we got the same again. The secret miso gyozas. Let’s see if they’ve got even better in one week’s time. 10 out of 10. [Music] Woo! Hey! [Music] I’m so out of breath, God, I don’t know if you can hear me, but we’ve just waited about 40 minutes in round one to be able to do these sort of things playing football. Oh my god, this is the most fun I’ve had in ages. [Music] So, I was just saying to Louis that I believe this could be the best view of a Saka. Absolutely incredible. We’re actually in the Sabo Lounge Bar at the Four Seasons and just enjoying a little sake and yeah, I believe this is the best view of a sake. Mhm. and go. [Music] Wow. I’ve lost words over a tomato. That is delicious. For the record, the tomato is infused with plum sauce. Not just a tomato. It’s like a dessert. So good. So, we’ve just finished course four of six here in the Four Seasons Chinese restaurant, which is called Jiang Nan Chun. Just met the head chef who is from Hong Kong. This is a new restaurant and the food is incredible. We have had what have we had? Pan fried scolop. These tomatoes with plum inside them. Uh pumpkin soup with black truffle. Deep fried crab that came with like jelly and it was um a kind of cat food. And then we have just had wagyu beef with shashito peppers and barbecue sauce which was insane. And we have got salted fish and chicken with fried rice and then a little dessert on the way. And it is amazing. [Music] So for pudding we have got what is this? This is rock sugar syrup and this little flour. Can we see the flour? Yeah. This is tofu that has been hand chopped like so fine. Like look at that. It’s to make it look like a Japanese flour. And yeah, the chef has literally spent two months trying to find this tofu and then has been in there chopping it like this. So, it looks like a piece of art. I don’t really want to eat it, but I’m going to. I’m sure it’s going to be great. So, that is the end of our time in Aaka. It has been an amazing city. It feels like the shortage of Japan. Very, very hipster vibes. Very, very cool. Lots of vintage shopping, great food. We didn’t quite get to do everything that there is to do here, so we’ll definitely be back, but it was a great first taste of what Asaka has to offer. Yeah, definitely the kitchen of the country. Incredible food. We spent four nights in total in Aaka, but we’ve got three days. Three days. We wasted one hung over and we most probably needed that extra day and we would most probably add on another day to come back and do Universal Studios. So four or five days would be about perfect. We get another great city. All of the cities so far in Japan incredible. We love them all. But for now, that is the end of our time in Aaka. And if you like what we do here, please hit that subscribe button and leave us a comment if you like this video. And we will see you in the next one. See you later. So we’re now in Asaka. This city is known for No, sorry. So, we’re now on the famous food street called Don Bury.
