🏯🌸 Stepping Back in Time – Discover Hidden Traditions in Noshiro, Akita 🐾⛩️

Hi there! Welcome to Part 3 of my Akita journey 🙂 A peaceful little town called Noshiro—a hidden gem along Japan’s northern coast. Oh! toot toot~~ local tiny train is coming. This beautiful building used to be a high class restaurant
in 1937. Today, anyone can walk in! Admission is free. I was amazed by the refined craftsmanship of
Japan’s Showa era! Wow!! It’s stunning 🙂 Each summer, the town lights up with portable shrine —”The Castle in the Sky” festival. Massive, glowing floats parade through the streets, symbolizing hope and resilience. This place—KANEYU—elegant gatherings were hosted by generations of VIPs. You can even Kimono wearing experience and reserve a meal just like they did back in the day 🙂 They had these hand-drawn menus.
It’s a true piece of art. Later, I stumbled across this cozy shop. The vibe was so warm, I just had to step in. Turns out it was a special day—they were displaying their vintage shop curtain. Lucky me 🙂 The owner suggested I visit a nearby temple where the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. And wow… it was breathtaking. Quiet, peaceful, and completely untouched. Cherry blossoms here bloom about a month after Tokyo, so you get a second chance at sakura season! For lunch, oyakodon! made with Hinai-jidori, a prized local chicken.
Of course it’s absolutely perfect 😛 Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed this quiet escape, give it a like and let me know in the comments 🙂

Welcome to Part 3 of my Akita journey!
In this episode, I visit Noshiro, a coastal town in northern Akita.

🚃 I arrived on a charming little local train, greeted by mountain views and ocean breeze.
🏯 Stepped into Kaneyu, a 1930s high-class restaurant now open to all, filled with warm wood, quiet elegance, and living history.
🎆 Noshiro’s summer festival, Tenku no Fuyajo (“The Castle in the Sky”), features glowing floats that tower into the night sky—pure magic.
🍱 Lunch was a local specialty: Oyakodon made with Hinai-jidori chicken—a must-try when in Akita!
🌸 And just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, a vintage shop owner tipped me off about a hidden cherry blossom temple nearby.
No tourists, just petals and peace.
🌟 If you’re looking to escape the crowds and feel Japan’s timeless charm—Noshiro might just be your next dream destination.
Don’t miss this hidden gem far from the tourist crowds!
