Malaysia has secured more than RM8 billion in potential investments and signed 20 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said.
Fadillah, who also chairs the National Organising Committee for Expo 2025, described the achievement marks a significant step toward achieving its RM13 billion target for the global event, while underscoring a strong indicator of Malaysia’s growing international appeal and readiness to lead in sectors such as green energy, digital economy, biotechnology and smart infrastructure.
“This achievement represents 61.5% of our investment goal, and I’m confident we will surpass it in the months ahead.
“We are paving the way for job creation, technological collaboration and stronger economic ties with Japan and the world,” Fadillah said during the official opening of the Malaysia Pavilion at the Expo.
He shared that the deals, involving 101 Malaysian companies, highlight Malaysia’s proactive role in shaping the future of sustainable development and inclusive innovation.
“The MoUs signed span key growth areas including renewable energy, green hydrogen, smart facilities, caregiving innovation and digital solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fadillah, who also serves as the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, emphasised Sarawak’s position as a central player in Malaysia’s hydrogen economy roadmap.
With its vast hydropower resources, Sarawak is positioned to be a regional hub for clean energy collaboration and technology adoption.
The Malaysia Pavilion, themed “Weaving a Future in Harmony”, has already welcomed over one million visitors, serving as a hub for business matching, forums and cross-border networking.
The three-storey, 2,654-sqm structure showcases Malaysia’s rich cultural identity alongside its ambitions in seven strategic sectors, including sustainable agriculture, environmental management and the halal industry.
With support from 21 ministries and 70 government agencies, Malaysia’s participation at Expo 2025 is a whole-of-government effort to position the country as a trusted global partner in innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
